Thank you for sharing your video, My 2017 RF has the same issue the screen with spidering… the screen replacement at dealership is outrageous, $600-700 for a replacement unit,labor extra, there was a TSB to replace, only if you are under warranty… My RF started showing this issue when it was close to 6 yrs old. Your video was very helpful, my suggestion is to do what you did is remove the center 10mm bolt, I wouldn’t suggest using the L-shape Philip to unscrew instead of taking the 10mm bolt with bracket…the 3 screws are on very tight and there isn’t enough room to leverage to unscrew the 3 screws. I noticed this when i picked up my 2016 ND mazda aroused September of last year the first shop visit for oil and tires they pointed out a large list of works that tallied over 6k in parts and labor. 3,000 of it blonged to the screen replacement talk about highway robbery. I looked up this because it just got progressively worse and now it's worth the replacement behind DIY labor. ^_^
I have same issue with mine, 2016 model. Did you have to set the screen somehow? I saw some people sell on ebay these screens but saying it might be to be configurated once again. Thanks and happy new year
Okay buddy since you have taken this stereo apart twice you might be able to tell me is there any chance theoretically to install a bigger screen like a Sony XAV-AX8000 because it's a single din and adjustable back and forward and up and down .Look at the Sony head unit and let me know if it can be adapted like adjusted sonthatbotnsits a little more forward over the stock trim to fit. I'm not concerned about perfect fitment or what's behind the screen ..What I mean is can we attach that Mazda stereo plastic trim to the Sony so that Sony comes forward Infront of the edge and fits kind of like an overhanging position since it's too wide for the stock trim
Ok so checked the Sony radio out and after seeing the mount behind the screen even tho it seems like it has the same 3 bolt holes... the bracket is too big for the ac vent fit back in. You definitely would be needing to custom cut the ac duct and even the trim into the dashboard. Its a fantastic sony radio but u fortunately the miata doesn't have the space atleast not with out cutting away at those dashboard innards. Oooor... possibly cutting down the bracket its self that would allow only the three hole to match but that my effect the stability of the screen.
Hi, after changing the screen do you have to go to Mazda to do a check? When I see the used prices and how easy it is to change it, the 2.000€ that Mazda will charge me for a new one + labour makes me laugh. Thank you again for your help.
I wouldn't know if it would be possible honestly. Only cause I dont know the difference in the dashboard. I assume if there is space then why not. Still not hard to pull off.
I had a Sport and I went to a couple audio install places and they said they don't even know how. Mazda dealership quoted me 3k for an upgrade to the nicer display. It can be done, but it will cost a lot
Funny how they used old miata parts in a 2017 Fiat Spider. It's kinda like Fiat bought Mazda's overstock and made a cheap car with it. I hate to say it but I should have bought a Miata instead Fiat suck with customer service. That is why they are failing in America.

Nope, as soon as I switched it out. Turned on the car it powered up perfectly.

They didn't buy Miata overstock. Your car is a Miata, just with a Fiat engine. Fiat was smart and used the older gen transmission which is stronger.
