Thanks for that tip. Mine was playing up yesterday and thought it may have to go in for repair but this seems to have fixed it. So simple and yet you don't always think of these things. I guess it could happen with other cameras, although these compacts tend to get carried in pockets a lot. I've now sorted out a soft lens case to put it in when in the pocket.

You are a lifesaver! I have some sponge stuck to the top of my MkVI to stop wind noise in my mics and it had crept back over the sensor over time. I was just about to get the screwdrivers out. Thank you!

Now my vinder was not working in auto mode but was working while on finder mode only. Im a little bit guilty for not putting my camera on the bag. Now I will definitely clean every dust on the camera. I hope this will also work on my sony HX99. Thank you very much for sharing!
My Mark IV looks same as your Mark III at 3:51. Even with the viewfinder down. I don't want all that data on the screen. I just want to take pics with the screen on live view. I've gone through all the menus/settings. I can't seem to undo this. I even did a settings reset. Can you please tell me specifically how get the basic live view on the display screen?
Never had this problem but my Mark III automatically turns itself on and then off even when it's just sitting there on my desk. It does this until the battery is exhausted. The only way I can stop this is to leave the viewfinder extended, which would be a problem when taking the camera out of the house. Nothing else I have tried prevents this fault from happening. Apart from this problem, the camera functions perfectly. Never been dropped or knocked. Any thoughts on this?
I have missed your videos- good to see youy posting again! Any thoughts on the new Leica Q FF "compact" or the Sony 42MP Sony a7R II? I'm looking under the couch cushions for 7500 US$ to buy them both!!
Happy you follow my channel :) I think 42mp is unnecessary in most situations but may result in some problems like the ones I had with the a7r (hard to get sharp pictures hand held). As for the Leica Q I can't wait to try one!!! I was a big fan of the Sony RX1 and I was always saying, that should have been the Leica X back then... Now I want to see what Leica has done :)
It is probably better to not let the view finder pop up so harshly but stop it with your finger as it comes up. But yes, I had the same problem which was a concern until I found the issue - as above.

Sorry! That sounds more like an electronics problem. Maybe a contact in the moving element. You should better have Sony check that out.
