- It’s debatable who can be credited with the latest wave of interest in the 4 door coupe styled cars, but certainly the first generation of the Mercedes-Benz CLS deserves some of the kudos. Others have followed the three-pointed star and brought the idea to smaller, more affordable models.
The 2020 Mercedes-Benz CLA delivers the brands promise of luxury at an accessible price. This five-passenger car is among the most affordable models in the Mercedes line. its is a sedan, with a sloping roofline to give it a coupe-like look.
Now comes BMW’s latest take on the format, the new 2020 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe. Don’t be misled by the naming convention, however, for this car isn’t really a coupe. this is the smallest BMW gran coupe to join BMW’s handsome 4 and 8 series gran coupes and should be a beauty.

have brought a 2 gc, better value in the long run, easy to get to the dealer for service etc, Mercedes seems to be a nice car but running costs put people off.
I'm in the process of deciding between the two, the 2GC looks better externally IMO but the top range CLA infotainment system with 10inch screens blows BMWs system out the water IMO, difficult decision which to get.
2GC has a great drivers position. Way better in my opinion than the CLA. Also, the material quality inside is better. And yes, the CLA looks more fancy, but difference in finish was too big for me, so I picked the 2GC.
I also disliked the CLA 180/200, it is so noisy. The 3 cylinder is silent, although the start/stop is horrible.
1 another disadvantage, head room in the back is not that great..
I just bought a 228i BMW. The warranty is far better than Mercedes. The car is also faster than the CLA 250. I've owned four MB but BMW is a better and sportier driving car.

These do not play in the same league.
The BMW is a much smaller car, the CLA is the same size as a C-class/4-series (up until the new 2020 version)/ Audi A5 coupe.
It is often compared to the 2-series because it sits below the C and E class as the 2-series sits below the 3,4 and 5 series.
But the CLA is the best you can get for that money right now. Costs around 50-60k € for a good standard version (petrol or hybrid)
Are you stupid? The CLA is also below the C class and E class just like 2-series. The rival of BMW 4-series is mercedes C class coupe, not the CLA. BMW 4-series is the coupe version of BMW 3-series, iykyk
@@yoyohar9287 chill out.... check the dimension of the CLA, the C class and 4 Series and then the BMW 2 series...you'll understand then. Plus I owned the 4 series and now the CLA, what about you?
the dimension gap between CLA and 2-series gran coupe are only around 100 mm and that is not a big difference. If you want to compare a car, just look at the price as long as the dimension gap are not too much. It will be a different league if the dimension gap are pretty long. For example the difference between C class and E class. I'm owning lexus rx200t. Btw, why did you ask about my car? Is there any problem if i dont have any car?
@@yoyohar9287 BMW 2 series is comparable to the A-Class sedan, not the CLA as it is one class above it. So next best thing for BMW is the 3/4 Series, as I specifically stated in my first comment "up until new 2020 version". Check dimensions for these carefully and you'll see. Asked about your car as I feel you have no real experience with BMW and Mercedes.
@@TheMonsterVince nope. I’ve told you, the dimension gap are not that much. You just overreacting and make it seems like the dimension gap are 200-300 mm lol. The CLA and A Class are at the same league. Based on your logic that assumes if you want to compare cars, then compare the dimensions, that means CLA and 2 series gran coupe should be in the same class because they are both are 4-door coupes. So you can't compare the 2 series gran coupe with the A Class sedan because their models are different.

The word coupe doesn't mean anything now. Also the "M" and "AMG" denomination mean little in many cases.
