John deere 8850 is my favorite tractor of all time
I HAD a 8850 from new we purchased in 1984 just prior to planting in Australia, great tractor, enormous torque and power , mine was equipped with , diff locks ,PTO ,Triple SCV's and 20.8x42 duals , loved it did 8800 hours trouble free , the engines breathed hard so it was CRITICAL to keep air cleaner filters, well serviced and replaced often ,same with engine oil , we changed ours every 250 hrs !!
You have a jewel there in that John Deere, thanks for showing in the field again Jason
It is a neat tractor. I like V8 powered 4wds.
Great tractor with excellent constant power! Found memories of driving one for a season back in 2001 in Australia!
Old school A B Line = combine tracks & line the front "arrow on the shed & good to go 👍Great you had a "helper"!
Just line up a point on the horizon and drive to it. 😁👍
Lord look at this old girl pull that 915 V-ripper on that 8850
Great job, brother.
Thank you for watching.
Thanks for the ride in your “ Big Green Tractor “
May I add she sounds shweeet too
😁👍👍
Great video and great to hear your enthusiasm for not only your tractor but all the other videos you do!
Such an awesome beast of a tractor.
My 1/32 Versatile 570 arrived from the US today - really made my day ( along with this video of course! )
Very cool. Nice model.
The 70s and 80s deere iron is probably the best farm machinery ever will run forever if you take care of it
😁👍👍
GPS - "Got Power Steering" - I think that is the first time I have heard that. Pretty funny!!!
😁👍👍
I am so envious! Very nice Jason!
Thank you for watching this is a fun Tractor to get out in the field
Be careful working that tractor hard. The motor is part of the frame and when it flexes it can wreak the motor. Pretty cool to see one still running and not re-powered.
Yes the V8 engine is a big risk in owning this tractor. I plan on taking good care of it and hopefully avoid any issues.
Nice video. Thank u. Nice 1980s iron.
Como no recordar el 8850, mi padre en 1999 importo a Perú
Great video as always...nice to see you sharing the cab with the new pilot. Great memories in the making.
😁👍
Another great video!! So cool to see the old iron in the field!!!
Nice to see that you and your got spend some time together in Dad''s tractor
😁👍👍
It's good 👍👍👍
My opinion is, if JD designers had have built the 8850 with a full chassis and fitted a Big Cam Cummins instead of their own V8, this model would have been the best tractor they had ever built.
The 8960 is that version. I have to say enjoy running my 8850 but the engine is always a concern in the back of mind because I want it stay original.
Well Jason, you're looking pretty farmerish in this video. Enjoyed it very much. Keep'em coming!!
Just playing in the dirt 😁👍👍
Hi Jason, that beauty wasn't making any fuss at all pulling that ripper, that V-8 engine has a lovely sounding note to it, it's not going to be too far in the future when we see you and your Son doing spring tillage in the same field one of you in the Case I H and the other in the John Deere, that would be really something. All the very best to you and the family, great video.
Regards
Kevin Fox,England Essex.
All I can say is your dog is braver than the average dog. Lol
Random dog from the house across the street from the field that just wanted to say hi and bark a bunch 😁
Best on youtube ✌️, outstanding 🤠
Thank you for watching.
The older John Deere better than the new ones they were metal and tougher than the plastic
Love the tractor its beautiful
😁👍👍
So you have your toy out playing in the dirt, which is just what it needs to stay healthy.
It’s fun getting the 4786 and 8850 out to work some ground. Hopefully in the spring I can get them in the same field together.
@@bigtractorpower sounds like a fun day and a little work out for your tractors.
Very nice tractor thanks for the video and your hard work to do the video
Thank you for watching.
Love your 8850. Can you show us where problems occurred with the original V8 engine? I once heard you say that the engine was mounted in a way that caused it to wear or crack.
Also, can you describe the benefit, if any, besides weight, of the cast hubs in the duals?
Thanks!
Great watching your tractor working. Even though it's only 5 shanks, that ripper really sucks down the back end of the tractor doesn't it? It's making the tractor work a little.
The 915 ripper is a heavy duty tillage tool. I would have liked to put a 7 shank on just to see what it was like. Maybe next year.
@@bigtractorpower We used to pull a five shank ripper with a 4440.
We had one of these on our farm in the 80s. It was a great machine except for cracking heads. Ours was actually delivered with a cracked head . Hopefully yours doesn’t suffer from the same issue. They had the best sound especially on a cold night .
I am sorry to hear that. Hopefully this one will hold to tighter. The V8 engine is cool but it comes with allot of risk for sure.
@@bigtractorpower there is one in Merridin western australia (i live in perth WA)that has been re-powered with a mack EM9V8@440hp and dosn"t that sound nice. good luck with yours i hope it lasts forever.
Good powerfull tractor 👍
Awesome tractor
😁👍
If you’re ever interested or in the area of eastern Kansas you might like seeing some of our Kubota tractors and John Deere hay implements. I’m 16 and actually just purchased my first big peice of equipment it’s a like new 2016 jd 630 moco. If you’re interested there’s a vid of it and other pieces of equipment in the video as well. Thanks really enjoy the vids really enjoy them.
Thank you for the watching. Congrats on the 630 MoCo. I have not been Kansas yet. I hope to get out that way sometime to film. Thanks for the invite.
There we go
😝when the commercials make me cuss,, it's a great video 😝, rock on !!!,✌️
What commercial was shown?
Nice tractor. Good setup. Would rather see some plowing with that JD 8850 beast.
I would like to put a 10 bottom 3710 plow on it.
Small cultivator for such a big tractor.
Not a cultivator lol it's inline ripper that's deep in the ground so it takes a bunch of power to pull a ripper.
Very nice👍
😁👍
Looks like your front outside wheel is bent or something
Very nice tractor I want one
😁👍
I love the vids!
😁👍. Thank you for watching.
Hi BTP very cool 👌 need to fix the rear window wiper 🇵🇹🇵🇹
Yes I am not sure how that got loose.
Bout time ya get the ole girl warmed up
What size tires do you have on there Jason
BTP- I don't recall ever seeing a tractor just like yours with either wheel weights or front weights. Did they even make a front weight bracket for that series? Loved seeing your tractor ripping! Was that your dog?
I can not not say I have ever come across front weights for an 8850. That is not my dog. He lives at the farm I was subsoiling at. He was eager to be out in the field.
So.... when you putting on the straight pipe?
I like tractors to look factory. A straight pipe V8 would have a mean sound no doubt.
How long does it take you to edit the videos?
Like 👍👍👍👏👏👏💪💪🚜🚜🚜🚜🇧🇷🇧🇷
what this tractor doing ?
It is subsoiling the ground breaking up compaction.
@@bigtractorpower yes thanks for told me. 😊
The plow I was talking about the other day was miss spelled it was called Kverland not netherland they have some on tractorhouse.com
I know Kevernerland plows well. That company is owned by Kubota. Kubota also owns Great Plains Seeding and Tillage. They distribute Kevernerland plows though Great Plains Dealers here in the US.
Friend of mine has 2 8430,s one is not working
The 8430 is a nice tractor.
Coming power?????
John Deere 15.7 L V8 engine.
In using this exact tractor but with a bigger plow in FS19 right now!
Very nice.
Hello!
The farm I used to work for had a 8850 they had to destroy to get money for a new tractor with government juice.
That is a shame. Those programs pay out so well you can’t help but not take advantage of them.
:)
Thank you for watching.
Got a helper in the cab I see
Great video Jason and late happy birthday
Thank you.
That tractor looks great😁👍 thank you for sharing👍😉
Tractors I grew up watching here in central Kentucky. Love them great video!
Sharp looking 8850, I'm also from 1981. I've got literature and a jd belt buckle of this tractor.
I hope that you are getting paid for what you do !!!
That is a sweet looking deere you bought always liked that style of John deere 4wds neighbor farmers here had a 8630 & 8640 & 8650 series always loved watching them as they were working the fields
The 70’s and 80’s were a neat time in farming for sure.
Nice video
Thank you for watching.
Can’t wait for fur spring tillage and planting
Still love to see the big green machines doing there thing !
😁👍👍
The 8850 was my first tractor that I added to my collection.
Very nice. What year is yours?
I don't have the real tractors i just been collecting the 1/64 scale tractors since I was 11
You need a 9 shank at least. Pull 3 shank with a 96 PTO hp.
I’d say 7 to be safe
@@nellsonstout7001 I know 3 doesn't work my tractor.
@@douglassellers7528 different areas have different conditions, plus he doesn’t wanna work this one too hard
Is the next one your gonna add to your collection a 8970?
No would stick with V8 powered 4wds. If I get another tractor.
@@bigtractorpower 850 versatile or 900
@@evangregory9299 850s had an 855 turbo at 280.

Thank you for watching.
$120,000 back then to today with inflation is nearly half a million dollars!
Big investment. The current top Deere the 9RX 640 clocks in at $900,000 plus.
