This was right on the edge of being just dry enough to work. Tough spring so far!

I liked! Too bad Deere didn't mount that engine up on rubber above the main frame, instead of making it an integral frame member where it is subjected to all the twists, jerks, ditches, and any other thing the main tractor frame sees and must absorb to pull a load. Starting with the 60 series, they got smart using rubber engine mounts totally isolating the engine from the main tractor frame,,, and away went their engine problems.

It's too bad JD pulled the plug on their V8 diesel engine. It was a highly advanced design with untapped potential. Some of the design features were copied by other diesel mfgs. One feature was the one piece bottom end of the engine, it allowed for a very deep skirt block for strength, and eliminated the individual main bearing caps. There were some issues with the early builds, not surprising for a totally new design. Ultimately Deere decided the cost to continue building and improving the engine couldn't be justified. Starting with the 60 series they opted for Cummins 6 cyl engines for the high HP models. Deere eventually developed higher HP 6 cyl engines to replace the Cummins. Had the kept improving the V8 they would of had their own built High HP engines far sooner, and probably would have plenty of non-ag demand for the engine too due to its power density and torque.

Nice video!! The audio was disappointing, though 😮‍💨
The use of a monotone 6-cylinder recording doesn't do justice to the heart throbbing 🎶 music 🎶 actually pouring forth from this magnificent beast‼️‼️
    Video was great 🥴

The 6 cylinder you’re hearing was running in the background. Straight pipe tractor that drowned out the V8. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to get good sound of only the 8850 running.
