Majority of helmets these days used by "special forces", are not even a real balistic helmets but polymer blunt trauma protectors to hang your flashlights and night optics on it, what was some decades ago was known as "parachute helmet". Now, furthermore, it is not true that "you would get your ass kicked" bla bla, maybe if you are conscript or in the training. There are hundres of German operators that do not wear helmets as they choose not to, especially units that you could see deployed in Afghanistan, Iraq, Kurdistan... Helmets get dropped on many missions that are behind enemy lines or you expect long walking, or its extremly hot etc, etc. Soldiers in general, do not really like helmets, they prefer to wear some kind of useful hat. Even when they do have helmet around they prefer to put it on only during actual combat, rest of the time it will hang on your west or backpack.
