      @@Divhreaza Nope, no error. In the Confederation timeline, Picard at this exact moment was destroying other planets, conquering non-humans. He was not on missions like this, he never went to the Devidia planet, he was a hard core military leader. Now if you say "Well Guinan was there in San Francisco as we see it here having a tea party with Mark Twain". yes, she was. but again, Picard never showed up. Guinan never met Picard as we saw here because it relies on the premise that the Enterprise-D showed up on Devidia...which as I stated never happened in the Confederation timeline. Encounter at Farpoint and everything that happened on the Enterprise-D never happened. Overall, the story writers for Picard did their homework with an A+ score.

      A participant in the 1849 California gold rush. Chiefly miners, the early ones found the gold, middle ones got the leftovers late ones got the shaft. Even later they would have done better if they didn't blow everything on booze and loose women. The only real winners were the merchants mining the miners.
      Poor old guy came out west dreaming of riches when a youngster. Now whatever fortunes he once found have long been spent, the (accessible at the time, particularly to a single individual) gold has run out, and in the pursuit he has worn his body down so he couldn't use the one thing he really knows how to do if there was still gold.

    The last minute shows how messed up it is that we live in a society of unevenly distributed wealth; where some people have too much, and most others have too little.
    I really hope our world abolishes Capitalism in the near future as Star Trek's Earth has.

    • @DovahFett
      @DovahFett Рік тому +9

      Until resource scarcity vanishes (it probably never will), uneven distributions of wealth and resources will continue to exist. No amount of political and economic theory can overcome the intrinsic realities of the universe. In Star Trek, they had to discover faster-than-light travel and invent the replicator before a post-scarcity society was achieved. They also had to suffer through a third World War, which almost destroyed the entire species.

      "Resource scarcity" is caused by Capitalism. It actually uses up exponentially more resources than what a modern civilization actually requires. Mass production for profit is such a terrible waste.
      If humanity used the abundant resources rationally, ethically and thoughtfully, the world would be better off for it.
