- One year! I can't believe a year has gone by since I picked up the RS5 and what a year it has been! There's been ups and downs and this video will highlight all you need to know about Audi RS ownership and if I regret my decision choosing this over something else. Was it worth it? Time to find out sooner than later! I have probably missed out a couple of things and I will mention those in the pinned comment 😳😅

Ah yes! I forgot about the doors! You can't lock the doors with the engine on which is annoying in hot climates! What else did I forget?
You can modify that with OBDeleven. I have that enabled on my MK7 Golf R. I can lock and unlock the car whole engine is running

@@Snowcatsrt They do this for the same reason that they don't include remote start. Idling like that is illegal in many places in the world besides US.

I own a S5(modded, so a bit more fun) and planning to update to an RS. Initially I wanted an RS7 but a lot of people (like you) said that I should just go with the 5...I think I am convinced now, I love the B9 platform so why change...
If it helps anyone, I have a 2019 RS5 and have none of these issues.
I changed out of my 2019 into the 2021. I kept the new one for 3 weeks and had to get rid of it, too many things I didn’t like as lovely as it looked it just wasn’t for me. It’s been nearly 2yrs since but I’m now buying back my original 2019 RS5, luckily found it pop up for sale and collect in a few days. 👍

@@spacetraveler6986 Transmission is one, Audi changed something between the B9 vs B9.5, probably something due with the chip shortage.
I have a 2019 S5 and drove a 2023 S5, the new one has terrible up shifts, way slower.
I have a 2019 RS5 as well and I’ve had no issues while running a JB4 on MAP 2, it’s the perfect daily for me.
Same here I have 2019 RS5 with no issues now 11,000 miles. Only had to go dealership as some rats chewed some wirings that needs to be replaced.
I just got the same car same color except the black out mirror cover, black calipers (just trying to be special lol), and the other rims for half a year now! I am really glad still seeing you having it!!!
I own a Coupe version and 100% agree with you review. Besides all of this issues, totally love. Another good point is that you can adjust loudness of the engine switching from comfort/auto mode to sport/RS mode. Btw, leather gloves is a good option for alcantara wheel.

@@user-wr5od7my4l In my car there's no stock soundproofing and double windows for less weight and more engine sound I guess, so after 200 km/h it's significant but passengers able to talk. It's not the quitest car for the highway

Got the S Coupé because of the balance between the sport suspension and luxury.. I ❤️ it and didn't hear about the alignment issues. I'll have to check the vin or maybe bc im in the US. Definitely enjoy your review of the RS5. You kept it intriguing and honest.... You're 💯 % right. Some annoyances and qwerks, but no major problems. It would the vented seats and heated steering wheel were available in the spec I got... But I'm loving the S steering wheel and S seats. Keep doing your thing!

Thank you! The alignment issues were for the RSs I think but for sure it only involved 21 models. I think you can Google your vin and find out what recalls apply to your car but the dealership should contact you if anything otherwise :)
Hi, I am huge fan of Audi RS5 and RS4 models. Thanks for the review on 1 year ownership experience. I lived in Bahrain for 5 years and heard lot of complaints about brake noise. Due to high outside temperature, the brake pads and discs gets excessive temperature than other which makes noisy. All other car brands have this issue. Keep update.

Great update! I have a 2022 RS5 Sportback as well. I pretty much always have my "RS Mode #1" set to all dynamic but I keep the suspension in Comfort. I find it to be very comfy it doesn't crash over bumps like in Auto or Dynamic. You said you don't like the steering...do you have the Dynamic Steering option? I find it very direct, yes not a ton of feel, but at least it's not overly heavy feeling for no reason (looking at you BMW). My interior has been pretty solid so far (knock on wood). I've got the carbon ceramic brakes and they squeak as well...at least I don't have to deal with brake dust though! Hah well worth the $6k just for that I suppose 😊
The steering is precise but just no feel to it! I heard replacing the sway bar helps so will look into it down the line!

Just taken ownership of a 2022 RS5 sportback Vorsprung in Nardo Grey which has every option (except ceramics as really not needed unless tracking).
Coming from the RS3 launch edition which was a hyper hatch, the RS5 is waaaay more comfortable. Mines has DRC which adjusts the RS suspension according to how your driving. I live in the UK where roads are shocking and the RS5 soaks them up with ease...
When your saying the ride is harsh, I'm wondering if you just have just the RS sport suspension but without Dynamic ride control which comes as standard on the Vorsprung as that is a game changer for real comfort.
It's been a month though and I'm already craving for more power but it's ecu locked after speaking with a few tuning garages it being a 2022 model.
034 motorsport is only pre opf apparently and ABT charge £4200 😮💨😅

I've ordered the 2023 RS5S in the same white color as you. I've been tracking you for a year and really like the white. By the way, I also purchased the Competition Plus and I see it has a lot of changes, this includes new shift logic as well as the new sport suspension, I hope the problems you encountered Audi have been seriously considered and achieved new achievements on the 2023.
Let's hope but it's always better to be sceptical and pleasently surprised than hopeful and disappointed

Oh crap you acknowledged "not being happy" about a comment I just shared about being happy to see it lol... well, everything will pass (to include dirty seatbacks) & it's my experience that we as parents will come to miss it... even the otherwise minor stuff.
Yesssss!!! The seatbelt rattle!!!! Omigosh what an absolute annoyance! My S5 had this, so when I moved to the RS5, I brought my soft latch covers with me haha. Tested it for the 15-min drive home from the dealer & then applied them bc that was too much banging around on gentle roads.
Am inclined to agree with you on brake sound, but then my QV and CTS also had the issue: it was easy here bc I grew up on race cars & they'd shut their motors off 1/2 mi away, then just coast in. Quiet as could be, until they had to hit their marks, then sQueEEallL SQueEeEaaaAKKK to stop. Hey, if you don't like it, then may that be the ONLY sign you give me so far as "not knowing anything about racing!" 🤣 (I kid you not: even my 1200hp dragster neighbor couldn't convince the others until the new Porsche 911 GT2 showed up & presented his daily-driver case, "it's just the way they are; I ordered it this way"): high-friction brakes are a lot like owning a pickup truck, where there's gonna be dents n scratches bc the truck GOT USED, so shall there be squeals n whines from a well-used set of pads n rotors. 🤙
Looking forward to the mods when you're ready! Esp so far as that granite suspension goes! (Audi missed the boat regarding 'stiffer = perceived more firm = better on a track' goes... bc the 4 rings clearly missed the mark.

my brakes are steel. I heard they both squeak so doesn't matter which ones you went for
It's luck of the draw. My 2018 S5 Coupe with steal brakes squeaked. My 2019 S5 Sportback with steel brakes didn't squeak. My 2019 RS5 Sportback with ceramic brakes didn't squeak, but now my 2022 RS5 Sportback with ceramic brakes do squeak. Lol
Great video! Am a certified Audi fan with a Q8 and 2019 RS5. The RS5 ride is quite harsh as you note - except in comfort mode but that is not a car to drive in that setting!..... Used to live in Amwaj Floating City!! Love Bahrain.....am retired in Florida now. Good luck and thanks for the reviews

No they're not ceramic. I think some people got them swapped out under warranty as they will squeak from brand new.

Trying to decide between an RS5 or an RS7, I hope to find a video done as well as this for the RS7 but so far you’ve convinced me on the RS5. It sounds good too! Looks much better than the other 2 German cars.
I have a video on the RS6 which features the RS7. Pretty much the same dynamic wise just 10k lighter and a Sportback design instead of Avant
I own a 2018 S4 and can say that the seatbelt rattles in mine as well. It is quite an annoyance but overall a fantastic vehicle and i love it!
It turns out it's hitting the seat as the side of the seat is hard plastic. One of the two anyways! But yeah likewise! Still love it
You can adjust the height of the buckle so it doesn’t rattle on anything , just slide the stopper on the strap where required

I have a 2019 RS5 sportback and love it...best all rounder I have ever owned. Lovely GT comfortable cruiser and an animal when you want it to be. Had it 4 years now and started looking for a face lift version.
Im surprised at some of your comments tho. Yes I have squeaky brakes. The seatbelt rattle I dont suffer from. Now I could be confusing this with my previous AMG C43 but either that or this car have a magnet inside the side of the seat to keep the buckle from rattling against the chair or side frame.
My suspension is great in all settings, very compliant. I would say even the hardest setting is softer than the AMGs softest setting. That cars ride was just too hard and crashy and the reason I got rid of it after 4 years.

I sold my 21 plate RS5 carbon back in October because I was offered a price I couldn’t refuse. I’ve missed it so much I’ve just ordered another carbon sport back. I can’t wait to drive one again. Only 16 weeks wait so not too bad. Had a white one last time, going for Mythos black this time. It’s a very special car.

Just got my s5 2023 sportback (black ops plus)prestige. I love it. Pulled the trigger cause they aren’t plenty here in New Orleans. Thought of grabbing the rs5 but I didn’t want to pay the mark up. Even tho the mark up on my s5 was crazy also lol
Yeah man these dealers are messing around with these prices way too much. I was lucky that Audi at the time I bought this car had more stock than Merc and BMW so proces were really not bad.

Great video! As a new owner of a 2022 RS5 - the B&O front speaker rattle and the passenger seat belt rattle do my head in! But I still love the car. Performance wise, it will need some mods. The ECU is totally locked up at the moment and I do not believe there is any short term plan for bespoke remaps being offered by anyone. My last car was a C7 RS6 with Litchfield (stage 2) - 740 BHP. Despite the huge additional weight, my RS5 does not come close to my old RS6. Possibly 0-60 MPH is near, but my RS6 0-100 MPH (where legal etc etc) was delivered in seconds - smooth, just appears, no fuss. I find the RS5 needs to wind up, it "feels" like it is long geared and the power delivery is smooth, whereas the RS6 was just totally brutal . 100 MPH can arrive soon enough, but I can "feel" the speed - whereas with the old RS6 that speed was just so smooth and stable. Anyway, got the RS5 and will enjoy driving it more. I am only 1 month in, unlike your 12 months. Mark
Hey Mark, the ECUs and TCUs in these cars have been unlocked for almost 2 years - there are tons of options available to tune and remap
Do the dump pipes, an ECU tune and the intake and you’ll have a different car 😎
It gets faster after more miles. The launch gets more brutal after time at least that's how I feel! But there are ECU tunes out I personally am waiting for 034 Motorsport to do one for the EU spec base tune I have but US spec is out already!

@@markramsay6399 Hey Mark, have a look at the ‘RS5 B9’ tunes from 034, they’ve been doing a lot of development with the RS5 lately - they’ve got some good UA-cam videos too
Another popular option is the APR tune, you also have piggyback systems like the burger performance JB4 etc.
@@mitcho865 thx :) Based in UK so that might matter, but I will have a look thx. My original preference for sticking with Litchfield in UK was simply I had done 130,000 miles in a Stage 2 RS6 and know what I was getting. Had car for 7 year :) The RS5 is a different beast, but love it .

Interesting about the laser headlights in the U.S. I know the e-tron GT in the U.S. has the laser headlights. That could be the only model as far as I know.
My 2014 VW GLI with 240K miles, and Unitronic Stage 1 tune gets 40 mpg on highway and 25 mpg in the city of Los Angeles. Be sure to walnut blast/carbon clean your engine every 50K miles if you like to drive it hard.
Those wheels cost like $6k my dude, they actually outsourced them so they are really well made. Id still go aftermarket and get some forged ones though, they are the best oem wheels Audi has made though. Reason I didn't want the launch edition was because of the alcantara and no carbon, but I you are right, you can't even tell its carbon from anything but close up. Hyped for the mods brother!
Thanks brother! I am going aftermarket but I am waiting in the tires. I already ordered them but there's some issues with importing them. The law over here states that each tire needs to be attested the first time they come into the country and sizes I need have never been here. I either pay that -which is a lot of money- or I try to import as a personal item. I'm hoping they'll get through this week 🙏

Arent the majority of Audi wheels outsourced. I have 20" FALX wheels on my A5 2021 Sportback and they too are made by another company.

@@ejemmexy well… I ended up buying a new RSQ3 sportback in Kyalami green 😂. Same price as the RS5 and yeah it’s a bit slower but couldn’t resist. Fell in love with the color and the design. Only thing I don’t like is that it turns the heads of every driver and pedestrian when I drive it. I’m already considering wrapping it at more subtle color like matte purple so I don’t stand out so much.
@Idk910 haha, a lot of people love to be in the spot light, glad to see you're different, I just found a good deal for a 2021 RS5 Sonoma Green with just 140kms on the clock so it's basically brand new for about 280k dirhams cos I live In Dubai and it's fairly priced considering the 2023 RS5s are going for over 400k dirhams and the 2024 is almost 500k, It doesn't have the adaptive suspension and a lot of reviewers are saying the ride is so bad, I really hope it's not as bad as they say cos I really love the RS5.
What problems did you have with the Bang & Olufsen system?
Rattling when I picked it up. Had two speakers replaced
Carbon package is a must imo on everything but black and blue. Black looks good but carbon looks 10x better. Glad I wasn't cheap and bought my RS5 with full carbon fiber incl. mirriors..

The alignment issues are due to the size 20 rims. If yours are 20 then they can't fix it because it already got hit so many times on pot holes and bumps specifically with pirelli tires and 20 rims that's what to expect.
I guarantee the 19 rims from audi and the tire specifications I tell you will make sure you will love your rs5 much more than the 1st days
I'm 1 month into my 9 month wait for my 2022 RS5 sportback. I specifically ordered it without the dynamic ride control because the dampening is supposedly done correctly without that package. I test drove an RS5 with DRC and without DRC and preferred without the DRC. Anybody have an RS5 without DRC that can confirm not having the weird dampening so many complain of?
I have a 2021 RS5 without the DRC and honestly love the ride. I live in LA and the roads aren’t the best. While I was shopping around I drove the new M3 and noticed that the ride was a bit better with the RS5. In my opinion you made the right choice!
I totally don't regret it and it doesn't bother me at all! Its just weird and I think some people will just be caught off guard thinking it will be a bit softer.
Your going to get a 2023 year. 2022 is done being produced.
I have a 2018 RS5 Coupé without DRC.
I also tested a 2018 RS5 with DRC and it only had two options for the suspension.
The harder mode was undriveable on higher Autobahn speeds and the normal mode was almost to comfortable.
My RS5 is a good sweetspot between the two DRC modes.
I NEVER take my car out of comfort suspension... you are correct sir, it is way too bouncy. And the brakes, don't forget the brakes.

unfortunately my MY2022 was cancelled due to supply chain problems. Positive side, I have just had ordered confirmed for the rs5 competition pack, sebring black crystal paint. A little worried that the OEM coil-over springs/ sway bar will effect daily driving duties. However Audi sport have stated the drivability on usual Canadian/ uk roads will be perfectly fine. Gulp, let's see. Can't wait though, in any version its the best bang for you buck out of the 3 protagonists.

@@skidhvh they're really easy to drift when the conditions are normal though. It's what I miss with the quattro ! The M4 was crazy expensive at the time and over here I think it is still more expensive than an RS5

Funny to mention that M4 was a bit cheaper than RS5 around here, i spec'd it with bucket seats and ceramics and it came to be around 77k€, Audi started at 80k and I'd have to wait months to get it.

Habibi as soon as you get a chance change those tires to Continental Super performance all season max sport and order 1 size wider .
Massive difference , much better handling than the more sporty ultra performance summer which is good for race track and Germany autobahn.
There will be no more waving under the steering wheel and sticks like glue for some reason.
Also a safer tire for your daughter and will never ever explode on any pot holes unlike pzero

At 17:45 is the proof that wrong tire & wheels but mostly tires have ruined the car when it was virgin. Next brand new car no matter the brand contact me and I'll pay the tires money if you weren't satisfied.
They made low profile tires popular because you will have to visit the service more often which translate into more action and money for them in multiple ways
For that price point of the rs5, the issues expressed on the vlog completely devalued this car. If this car was $20,000 less, it wouldn't be that much of an issue but again, the price point vs. all the issues he expressed, make this obviously not worth it to purchase. It's a shame for any car that is $100,000 plus by the time you sign on the dotted line to have all those issues. SMH.

They ordered a new one. Fixed it for a while and then it started to rattle again
