Wow! There is a lot of functionality behind this innocent-sounding feature. This is a prime example of why you should never dismiss one of Gary’s videos. Even if the topic seems obscure or not relevant, watch anyway because you are bound to learn a thing (or three). Thanks for this!
Wow, really useful, I was always wondering why there isn't a show in finder option in preview, but now after watching this I dont need it anymore, thank you very much!
The dragging snf dropping onto a web page to upload dcuments is insanely useful. I just had to do that the other day for my ID and if I'd known this, it would have been SO much easier. Now, I know. Thanks Gary 🙂
I knew about the title (getting the path, changing the location, etc.), but it's the first time in my 20 years + as a Mac user that I hear about the proxy icon. I might have noticed it, but I never knew that you could interact with it. Thanks Gary!
@@macmost You're right, but you can also drag and drop into email and any editing app and there's still an attach option, sometimes it's not so easy to drag and drop on a small display like a laptop, and I think it's kinda stupid not to have an attach option in messages, I use it all the time and either I drag n drop or I click share in finder to messages, but it's not how it should be.
Command-Click - well I never! Thanks and while I use the iMac less these days (compared to iPad Pro) I do use it for photo/video editing I can’t do on the iPad - Photoshop, NIK, FCP etc. so this is very useful.
Holy crap. These are 10 tips I never knew existed. I had no idea there was a proxy icon. The quality of life value of this video is 10 out of 10

Amazing!
Holy Cow... how come Apple never bother to tell that this is exist???
OK after this I will try to hover the cursor over everything on macOS 😅
Btw, why isn't there an option in messages attach and I can choose any file?
Just drag and drop.

@@eliezerweinberger Copy and paste works too.
@ I know, but sometimes i just need that simple attach button, maybe one day they will add it.
If I understand correctly, this only matters if a document, image, etc., is open.
If the document isn't open, then there is no document window, and thus no title bar to contain the proxy icon.
🤓good video

Yet another buggy feature with some previous behavior lost and found in Accessibility.
