- The Botanic Gardens, is situated in Port of Spain , just north of the Queens Park Savannah.It was established in 1818, on an abandoned sugar estate belonging to the Peschier family, which had been purchased by the government in 1816!
My name is Alan Charles (the Trini Surfer) and I am here to show you the beauty of my home country TRINIDAD and the rest of the world on my TRAVELS.
The gardens,.which housed the residence of the governor of the colony, occupied 68 acres and was organized as follows: 41 acres were allocated to the gardens itself; 8.5 acres were made into a nursery; 10 acres were allotted to the Government House Gardens, and 8.5 acres for the home and grounds of the Superintendent of the gardens.

Good stuff. I attended St. Ann's RC back in the late 60s, remember walking up to the gardens and playing, the teachers used to take us out there on outings and to the zoo, in later years I started to exercise and run in the gardens, up the mountain to Chancellor hill and back twice and three times on a run. It is still remain one of my favourite places in Trinidad and Tobago. Since I migrated, I haven't visited the gardens in about 35 years, this is the closest I have been to the inside of the gardens, in over 35 years. Thanks for sharing Alan, good job and be safe..

My Dad an agricultural botanist and sugar agronomist brought us to Trinidad from Barbados in 1950.He had done a post graduate diploma at the Imperial College of Tropical Agriculture ,St Augustine in the late Thirties early Forties and our first rented accommodation was on Carmody Road.The closest I got to the Botanical Gardens was a visit to the Emperor Valley Zoo.I got my passion for the plant world and gardening indirectly from him.My sister Diana left her secretarial post at Fed Chem at Point Lisas in the early Sixties to become a florist in London. I love your drone eye views of the gardens and of dear battered Port of Spain.

Lol in St. Roses Girls School in POS in 1978 I played E-Bony because I was so skinny school carnival I dressed up in booths hat and ware a colorful bikini my plaque read Miss E-Ebony I won best costumes too. Thank you for the beautiful Memories.
