- The Covigne Gorge traverses a branch of the Cuesa River through the remnants of a cocoa and nutmeg Plantation once known as the Macqueripe Estate. An invigorating walk up stream through a 30ft high gorge and over rock brings you to a plunge pool.
My name is Alan Charles (the Trini Surfer) and I am here to show you the beauty of my home country TRINIDAD and the rest of the world on my TRAVELS.
This hidden gem located deep in the Tucker Valley in Trinidad was carved out of the mountain rock by a branch of the Cuesa River which winds through an old cocoa and nutmeg plantation. A popular hiking destination, the trip to the gorge can take just about an hour as you walk through the undergrowth and then up along the river bed. The wet rock reflecting the sunlight that slips through the forest canopy above makes for a spectacular sight as the surrounding thick greenery combines to produce rich shimmery gold-green hues. But the real treat is at the end of the trail where an invigorating rope-assisted climb up the rock face brings you to a waterfall and plunge pool where you can take a revitalising swim in the cool fresh mountain water.

Best part is this trip is the fact that it's hidden, no litter. I've reached as far as the fallen tree just past the Arboretum and shocked by the amount of garbage at the entrance (the route you all bypassed). Hope the litterbugs find this trip too tedious to venture, it may just remain such a beautiful gem.
Yes 🙌🏼 it really is sad that people come to these amazing places to leave disgusting mess and trash 🗑

Also, the foam you saw at the mud pool on the trail, is a foam nest left by a frog, most likely a whistling frog.. They lay eggs within it.

The foam patches are where frogs blowing the bubbles to attract their mates
Absolutely correct!
Those patches of foam in the mud pools at the beginning of the traiil are the spawn of toads ... The eggs embedded in the foam will hatch into tadpoles.
I eventually got educated from people in the comments haha 😆

The 'white foam' contain frog eggs. The foam acts as a protectant/incubator of sorts
