- Literally would have had to shell out $500 for a replacement, tow, labor, and uber rides. I said HELL NO! UA-cam exist and I literally spent over 4 hours watching videos of other Ford owners having this same issue. I'm not a mechanic, nor electrician. My level of competency is I know how to change a flat tire and my oil hahaha. *****WARNING**** Try everything I mentioned with the key first before going under you dash and cutting wires or pulling your whole unit apart and causing more issues. Hope I helped guide you towards a solution!

You took way too long at the beginning. Just get to the point. Also, with me, it fixed itself by using my secondary key and then the primary key worked.

Glad you're was an easy fix. I turned my key and they keyfob broke chip gone

that metal piece is just a simple lock that ties onto a rotating switch. they key is sensed by proximity.

What about a 2002 with a new starter and alternator and battery but the Anti theft light came on and the car hasn't started every since

I have the same type car but mines a 2010 and ijust tried to follow these instrusctions and still doesnt work
You could try using the secondary key. If it works, take it out and use the primary key.
