You’re so lovely together!❤️ My boyfriend and I are in a long distance relationship because he lives in Taiwan and I am from germany but currently living in the Netherlands to study. We met over a year ago when I was 18 and we were both travelling through Italy on our own. I sat down next to him in Milan for dinner and we just started talking and ended up talking on the rooftop for whole six hours. The day after he traveled to germany and I went to Rome but we kept texting on Instagram for two days. We instantly felt a connection and wanted to meet again but he was leaving europe like 10 days after. So, he came to Rome again and we spend the whole remaining 10 days together travelling through Europe which was wonderful but then he had to go back to Taiwan to finish the last year of Uni and I planned my gap year between Uni. We didn’t see each other for 8 months after those 10 days together while being in our relationship. I worked for a few months to save money to travel to Japan and then visit him in Taiwan. We spend amazing 1,5 months living together and spending so much time with his lovely family after being apart for so long but afterwards we planned we could not see each other for over six months again because I started Uni in Europe and he currently has to do military duty for 3,5 months. I was so sad and missed him so much, that I decided to surprise him for his birthday and our first year anniversary. His whole family knew I was coming again and helped me and I still can’t believe he didn’t find out, but the surprise eventually worked out. We ended up spending the most amazing days together appreciating every moment. ❤️ Now we’re apart since August and he just booked his flight on to live with me in January until March. I‘m so happy and excited and even though we miss each other crazy much, we FaceTime every day and I feel so so grateful to have him in my life. Currently he’s in the army and he didn’t have his phone for the first month which was so hard, but now we can talk again. I just turned 20 and he send me the most beautiful letters he wrote every month during that time. Our families even know each other through face time and my grandparents also started to talk english to him. While being apart the 8 months I learned Chinese in a Chinese course (still have a lot to learn) and he lived in germany before on an exchange and is learning my language. Do you guys learn the language of each other or is it not a priority for you? Since my parents are from different countries as well and were long distance first, my mom always told me how important that is for her. My boyfriend and I have our goals and plan our future together and through the distance I feel much more grateful about every moment spend together. Sanne, let Max propose! You can still be engaged and take time to plan the wedding over a few years or however long it takes. Don't wait to do something that you think you can do tomorrow, next year or another day. My husband and I dated for 3 years and then got married, I was only 23 and he was 26 and we just celebrated our 20th anniversary this year! We never regretted getting married when we did b/c we knew we were right for each other. We just clicked and it was so fun and easy to be together as we traveled the world and enjoyed each other's company. We push each other to be better versions of ourselves and always give each other space to hold onto who we are independent of each other. We've had our ups and downs, but it's just as you said, as long as you are flexible, patient, give space and freedom, and have life goals, you make it work. If you're committed and love each other knowing it will sometimes feel easy and sometimes hard, you will make it for the long term. Love truly does conquer all!!!

I met my boyfriend at work. After 2 years working together he went through a breakup and I wanted to cheer him up. I started a cinema group at work and we went out for a movie together. After half an hour watching the movie he started stroking me at first I thought it was an accident because it was quite short. Then he repeated it twice and I told him to stop. I didn`t have the intention to start something with him. I really just wanted to cheer him up. But I thought "did that look like a date for you with a couple of colleagues with us"?! Later that night I apologised because of getting me wrong and I offered him still to do fun stuff together and giving him dating tips. After a few month we were really good friends and then somehow we started dating. I even can`t remember how it started but someday we were a couple and now we are together for almost 6 years. Cutee om te zien! Ik heb mijn vriend ontmoet tijdens intro van mijn studie. We waren toevallig op die ene verplichte dag van de intro samen in een groepje ingedeeld. (ik deed de hele intro week en hij alleen die dag dus) ik vroeg hem toen waar hij vandaan kwam en hij zei dat hij in Aalten woonde (daar kom ik vandaan en wonen mijn ouders (ik woon op kamers) en ik kon gewoon niet geloven dat we in hetzelfde kleine dorpje woonden en we elkaar niet kenden. Hij had toen nog een vriendin maar we werden eigenlijk steeds closer (we bleken ook bij elkaar in de klas te zitten en super dicht bij elkaar te wonen) en toen het uitging met zijn ex door de afstand toen kregen we wat. We zijn nu bijna 1 jaar samen en ik ben zoo gelukkig. Ik moet hem nu helaas nog even missen want hij doet nu zijn stage in het buitenland voor 10 weken en ik in Nederland. Hij komt over 2 weken terug en dan drie dagen daarna zijn we 1 jaar samen!!!

My husband first saw me in a rodeo grand entry, I was a rodeo princess at the time. He was in the area traveling out to work on a ranch for the last summer before his military career started. During grand entry he turned to his cousins and said “that girl is so hot I’m going to marry her!” Well as fate would have it I knew one of his cousins. She tried to meet us after the rodeo but I was surrounded by kids signing autographs. He messaged me on Facebook to tell me how beautiful I was and that his cousin knew me. At first I thought he was creepy and honestly wasn’t attracted to him. I tried to end contact but he was a persistent guy so we ended up being chat buddies. Eventually he was coming back through the area to do his military boards and my best friend said “give him an hour of your times what’s the worst that could happen?!” I did agree to meet him but I made him bring his cousin and I had my friend there as well. He was very sweet but I still wasn’t convinced he was for me. We did continue chatting though. His ship out date for basic training got pushed back even more than he had expected. A few weeks later I was trying out for rodeo court again. He drove through the night 6 hours to help me get ready and get my horse ready for try outs! That’s when I knew he was an amazing man. I won the title and we started dating. When you’re a rodeo queen you are supposed to appear single so no one but close family knew we were together. He ended up moving down to the area I lived and got a job there so he could invest more time into getting to know me. He proposed before he left for basic and we got married a few months later and moved across the country. We spent the first six months of our marriage living in a hotel room. If the drive across the country twice and those living conditions doesn’t break your marriage nothing will! We have since been through three other moves and he had a one year assignment in Korea followed by another six months apart while he was finishing another schooling. We are finally under the same roof again and about to celebrate five years of marriage. It’s been a whirl wind with lots of ups and downs but I wouldn’t trade him for the world. He is my other half!💗

I’m honestly really so grateful that I met him, and I’ve never been so sure about the fact that he is the one. My boyfriend and I are in a long distance relationship because he lives in Taiwan and I am from germany but currently living in the Netherlands to study. We met over a year ago when I was 18 and we were both travelling through Italy on our own. I sat down next to him in Milan for dinner and we just started talking and ended up talking on the rooftop for whole six hours. The day after he traveled to germany and I went to Rome but we kept texting on Instagram for two days. We instantly felt a connection and wanted to meet again but he was leaving europe like 10 days after. So, he came to Rome again and we spend the whole remaining 10 days together travelling through Europe which was wonderful but then he had to go back to Taiwan to finish the last year of Uni and I planned my gap year between Uni. We didn’t see each other for 8 months after those 10 days together while being in our relationship. I worked for a few months to save money to travel to Japan and then visit him in Taiwan. We spend amazing 1,5 months living together and spending so much time with his lovely family after being apart for so long but afterwards we planned we could not see each other for over six months again because I started Uni in Europe and he currently has to do military duty for 3,5 months. I was so sad and missed him so much, that I decided to surprise him for his birthday and our first year anniversary. His whole family knew I was coming again and helped me and I still can’t believe he didn’t find out, but the surprise eventually worked out. We ended up spending the most amazing days together appreciating every moment. ❤️
Now we’re apart since August and he just booked his flight on to live with me in January until March. I‘m so happy and excited and even though we miss each other crazy much, we FaceTime every day and I feel so so grateful to have him in my life. Currently he’s in the army and he didn’t have his phone for the first month which was so hard, but now we can talk again. I just turned 20 and he send me the most beautiful letters he wrote every month during that time. Our families even know each other through face time and my grandparents also started to talk english to him. While being apart the 8 months I learned Chinese in a Chinese course (still have a lot to learn) and he lived in germany before on an exchange and is learning my language. Do you guys learn the language of each other or is it not a priority for you? Since my parents are from different countries as well and were long distance first, my mom always told me how important that is for her. My boyfriend and I have our goals and plan our future together and through the distance I feel much more grateful about every moment spend together. I know one day we will have a home together and I am honestly so looking forward. When I look at you guys I feel the same connection we have and I wish you all the luck in the world❤️

I met my glorious partner at the beach during the holidays. The beach is my most magical place where I get in touch with nature and myself so it was extra special to be able to find each other there. We share values of respect, patience and freedom because like you Sanne, I blossom when I am let to be my own person. I always feel safe with him. We are planning on going for our first trip together early next year!

Sanne, let Max propose! You can still be engaged and take time to plan the wedding over a few years or however long it takes. Don't wait to do something that you think you can do tomorrow, next year or another day. My husband and I dated for 3 years and then got married, I was only 23 and he was 26 and we just celebrated our 20th anniversary this year! We never regretted getting married when we did b/c we knew we were right for each other. We just clicked and it was so fun and easy to be together as we traveled the world and enjoyed each other's company. We push each other to be better versions of ourselves and always give each other space to hold onto who we are independent of each other. We've had our ups and downs, but it's just as you said, as long as you are flexible, patient, give space and freedom, and have life goals, you make it work. If you're committed and love each other knowing it will sometimes feel easy and sometimes hard, you will make it for the long term. Love truly does conquer all!!!

Let me share my love story with you too. My boyfriend and I were high school friends. But we didn't start dating then. I was dating his friend and he was dating my friend. LOL. Those relationships didn't last and we met again a few years later. When we realized that neither of us had dated a new person because we both wanted our next relationship to be the last one, we felt something special in each other. It has always been a long distance relationship because he was in Japan and I was in Malaysia. But I went to grad school in the US and he came to the US for grad school on my second year in grad school! It was still a long distance relationship but we really got more time to learn about each other. Now, I've graduated and come back to Thailand while he would be in the US for many more years. But because we plan to build a future together, we really look forward to each coming day and a day we will live together as a family! ❤️

I met my boyfriend at work. After 2 years working together he went through a breakup and I wanted to cheer him up. I started a cinema group at work and we went out for a movie together. After half an hour watching the movie he started stroking me at first I thought it was an accident because it was quite short. Then he repeated it twice and I told him to stop. I didn`t have the intention to start something with him. I really just wanted to cheer him up. But I thought "did that look like a date for you with a couple of colleagues with us"?! Later that night I apologised because of getting me wrong and I offered him still to do fun stuff together and giving him dating tips. After a few month we were really good friends and then somehow we started dating. I even can`t remember how it started but someday we were a couple and now we are together for almost 6 years. He really wasn`t my type at all and he knows that but I liked him so much as a person that it worked. And thats the most important part for me talking about everything even if it hurts, be honest. You can only change something when you know the problem.

Cutee om te zien! Ik heb mijn vriend ontmoet tijdens intro van mijn studie. We waren toevallig op die ene verplichte dag van de intro samen in een groepje ingedeeld. (ik deed de hele intro week en hij alleen die dag dus) ik vroeg hem toen waar hij vandaan kwam en hij zei dat hij in Aalten woonde (daar kom ik vandaan en wonen mijn ouders (ik woon op kamers) en ik kon gewoon niet geloven dat we in hetzelfde kleine dorpje woonden en we elkaar niet kenden. Hij had toen nog een vriendin maar we werden eigenlijk steeds closer (we bleken ook bij elkaar in de klas te zitten en super dicht bij elkaar te wonen) en toen het uitging met zijn ex door de afstand toen kregen we wat. We zijn nu bijna 1 jaar samen en ik ben zoo gelukkig. Ik moet hem nu helaas nog even missen want hij doet nu zijn stage in het buitenland voor 10 weken en ik in Nederland. Hij komt over 2 weken terug en dan drie dagen daarna zijn we 1 jaar samen!!!

My husband first saw me in a rodeo grand entry, I was a rodeo princess at the time. He was in the area traveling out to work on a ranch for the last summer before his military career started. During grand entry he turned to his cousins and said “that girl is so hot I’m going to marry her!” Well as fate would have it I knew one of his cousins. She tried to meet us after the rodeo but I was surrounded by kids signing autographs. He messaged me on Facebook to tell me how beautiful I was and that his cousin knew me. At first I thought he was creepy and honestly wasn’t attracted to him. I tried to end contact but he was a persistent guy so we ended up being chat buddies. Eventually he was coming back through the area to do his military boards and my best friend said “give him an hour of your times what’s the worst that could happen?!” I did agree to meet him but I made him bring his cousin and I had my friend there as well. He was very sweet but I still wasn’t convinced he was for me. We did continue chatting though. His ship out date for basic training got pushed back even more than he had expected. A few weeks later I was trying out for rodeo court again. He drove through the night 6 hours to help me get ready and get my horse ready for try outs! That’s when I knew he was an amazing man. I won the title and we started dating. When you’re a rodeo queen you are supposed to appear single so no one but close family knew we were together. He ended up moving down to the area I lived and got a job there so he could invest more time into getting to know me. He proposed before he left for basic and we got married a few months later and moved across the country. We spent the first six months of our marriage living in a hotel room. If the drive across the country twice and those living conditions doesn’t break your marriage nothing will! We have since been through three other moves and he had a one year assignment in Korea followed by another six months apart while he was finishing another schooling. We are finally under the same roof again and about to celebrate five years of marriage. It’s been a whirl wind with lots of ups and downs but I wouldn’t trade him for the world. He is my other half!💗

I remember how both of us felt so understood when we’re with each other. I’m french Chinese and my boyfriend is ethnically korean but grew up in the UK. We would always talk about cultural differences between eastern and western countries, and discuss about how we think people, customs are so different from a country to another (obv), and these conversations alwaaaays end up with us just nodding at each other cause we couldn’t agree more with what the other one said.... I’m honestly really so grateful that I met him, and I’ve never been so sure about the fact that he is the one.
