    “Even if we do know how magnets work, it’s still amazing.”
    Yes, absolutely.
    I’ve never understood the mentality that knowing how something works removes the magic.
    Hell, sometimes it’s even MORE magical.
    The fact that there is a giant field circling our planet and it’s what keeps us from dying from radiation exposure on a regular basis is pretty dang cool. It doesn’t just do that but it’s also a contributing factor to how auroras function is incredible. Saves our lives and puts on a light-show.

      And just because we know how they work doesn’t mean we’ve learned how to fully use them. Hell I think we’re just learning how to use our minds and this UAP news is where some of those answers lie.

    I think the thing they are missing is ironically what he mentioned: even if you understand something, you can see it as a miracle. And it's also a miracle that the more you understand, the more you realise there's so many other things you don't understand yet. When you know one thing, you see ten miracles you don't understand. But if you learn about half of these things, sure, they might stop being miracles (they don't have to, though), but you start seeing 50 new miracles. It's such a good deal!

    • @deimoskaischylos
      @deimoskaischylos 5 років тому +5

      By definition, though, none of that would be miracles. The word has a specific meaning and, unfortunately, part of it involves science being unable to explain the thing being claimed as a miracle. If I understand your point, though, it is more than even things which we understand can still be remarkable to us.

    The song opens with “if magic is all we’ve ever known, than it’s easy to miss what really goes on”. There’s absolute truth to this. People take so much for granted about the world and their own lives. They forgot how amazing and magical life really is because they are accustomed to reality being served-up a certain way. There’s nothing wrong with appreciating everything about life, especially the smallest things we tend to overlook or take for granted. People become so bitter and jaded. It took taking a serious listen to ICP to truly appreciate the magic in the message. People might try and make a mockery of this band, but there is something truly magical about the message and the fact that the music has brought together people from all walks of life. Everyone should listen to ICP. I mean REALLY listen.

It's like magic tricks : you can look on google to know how they are done, but it's more enjoyable ( not better ) to marvel at the sight of a disapearing card than to know that it's still behind the magician's hand. Appreciating the little things in life and not taking for granted the incredible discoveries of man - is not a bad message.
    Hell being ignorant to how these things work isn’t even so much an issue as long as you don’t speak as an authority about things you don’t understand.
    The issue with the song is that it says “fuck science and scientist” and implies that they are telling lies. So not only is it a willing rejection of truth and understanding, it’s accusing these things as being untrue.
    Basically, if you find something miraculous that’s cool. But saying something is a miracle and magic, and then attacking others for explaining how it actually works and that it isn’t magic - is a really idiotic thing to do.

    Everyone that gives them shit over magnets - I want you to explain what happens with quantum locking in a preassure chamber right now. No googling or youtubing, just straight up tell me. Failing that, what about 0 resistence ferro liquid tubes. Or just build a railgun, could you do that at least? Or at least build an effective generator using mainly magnets and copper wire? No? Guess there is more to magnets than you think then, and that ferroliquid tube? That was just discovered a year or 2 ago. There are tonnes of applications of magnets and things about magnets and how they work that we as a society don't know yet.

    Yes, the universe truly is amazing, even after we've explained it with science it still seems like none of this should be possible. That being said I fail to see how that translates to saying magnetism is unexplainable and accusing all scientists of lying.
