  • It has been a year (or rather 14 months) since I moved to LA from London. I wanted to make a review of what it has been like living in LA 1 year later.

Thanks for this. I'm a londoner but always wanted to live on the west coast, specifically imagined skating down that Venice strip towards Santa Monica on the regular. I love the outdoors and quite liked tenerife in spain which also has the weather, mountains, beaches, surf/skate culture but of course it's a small place.
It does sound like a big challenge getting legally settled out there, I'm single at 31 as well so would be quite interesting going through this alone. How did you feel about the time difference and how often do you see family in either country?
Do they work you harder out there?

You’re more than welcome! I glad this of use to you. I don’t there is ever a time that is too late to move, if you feel it is right then go for it. Trust your gut because it is certainly a challenging experience moving out here. That being said, it is infinitely worth coming, I’ve never looked back.
It can be tricky to see family, especially with Covid. I’ve only been back once in 2019 and then only got to see my family over here at Christmas. I will try and get more often now that it is becoming easier to travel.
As for work, I’ve been promoted a couple of times since I’ve been out here and the workload has remained pretty standard.

nice tips man! it kinda works for everywhere, anybody wants to go lol
2020 made life a lot harder for most of people and sadly the unemployment rate around the world is rising. and here in Portugal we are not so bad like US but the government (as usual) is not dealing with the pandemic s they should and people still thinks this only happen to others... imagine that..
in the end, I'm glad you guys are ok! this will get over soon, hopefully

Yeah the unemployment is the cruelest part for a lot of people. I hope things get better over here, if been quite bad for a long time.

Other than the weather, what are the biggest differences in day to day life between London and LA ?

Not having to commute on the tube is a big difference. And something that I don’t miss.
For my work days, I’d say the biggest difference is that my mornings are so much more busier now than they used to be. I have to catch up with London and New York which means a lot of phone calls and emails.
Out of work, we spend a lot more time outside than we used to. Being close to the beach is amazing. And I guess just having access to the mountains, the desert and the beach is wonderful
