Damn I love those DeWalt quick insert collets. The spring loaded action to eject the attachment is beautiful too. Pisses me off every time I pick up my M12 tools and they don't have it!
Agreed, I used to have the M12 Fuel Screwdriver which had the one handed mechanism.. until someone stole everything out of my van. When I rebought the a new unit, it didn't have the one handed eject OR the insert (w/o pull up on collet) . Needless to say it went straight back to the store. I was bummed, but I may pickup this unit and check it out.

Hey guys at VCG, love your videos but you have this all wrong, the settings are for torque, not speed screwdrivers are designed as an opposite to impacts.
Impacts are to drive large screws through tough materials.
Screwdrivers use torque settings to avoid damaging the work, like a plastic back box and are far superior to impacts when using wall plugs or narrower screws (aka almost every job in the home)
These guys don't understand the tool. It's not for driving screws into wood, and the 15 settings are not speeds. It's an adjustable clutch so that you can run screws down into more delicate materials without overtorquing. It's a higher finesse, more finely adjustable driver that complements an impact driver.
Well they did say it's not for what they were doing.
It is intended for assembly,service,electronics, etc. Alarm installers and A/C techs will love that unit.
I’d say they fully understand the tool and its purpose.
A tradesman left one at my house. Before he came back I used it. It takes all the 1/4 bits I have for my XR20v so used it on a screw clamp, then with my pivoting bit holder to drive shelf securing screws against a wall, relaced a door hinge with a self-closing hinge, and hung a few wire storage shelves. I was sold so bought my own. Check for deals. Found mine with 2 batteries for around $100. Great screwdriver and guess what, the 20v charger charges this little beauty. I have loads of light switches and outlets to replace and this is just the job on the low settings. So far so good.
I bought this 12V Max Xtreme screwdriver when it came out, and I still use it regularly. This is my go to screwdriver. Plenty powerful enough for small, medium, and some large screws. Good for drywall install because it's so lightweight. Don't be fooled by the people saying 12V is not strong, this tool is plenty strong, and I've never come across a time where I thought I needed more power from the tool. 12V tools are perfect for cabinets, electrical, building book shelves, and 99% of other tasks.
Yeah and slap on a 5ah 12v battery and you'll be able to drive bigger screws. Not that you would want to....
I'm buying this for "in the house" and smaller mounting work etc.
I have the Hilti SFD 2-A and love it for plenty of tasks that don’t require impact. The only time I use the impact tools is during some type of construction but never during a disassembly or reassembly.
Love the reference to one of my all time favorite movies: Back To The Future. I was thinking of buying the Xtreme 12V 3/8" impact wrench as a small impact for auto work. Nice to see Dewalt back in the 12V tool game, with more competition among manufacturers the consumer usually wins by getting better products at a better price 👍🏽
I bought the impact,as an hvac tech I really love it ! It’s light and comfortable to use and the led lights are amazing
I am also a Hvac tech and a gear head I love the Dewalt 12 volt platform. It is small and powerful enough especially when your in crawl spaces. And it crosses over to Mac tools ratchets
I just bought the DCK221F2 combo set from Lowes. Only kit in 150 miles from me. Big upgrade over the old 12v tools. I've had mine since 2014.

Hey Vince, we use these at work everyday. I use them for finesse applications especially with small screws into plastic boss connections. Sometimes the impact is overkill. Especially with newer users
I’m an electrician always have used both m12 m18 stuff but picked this up for small stuff .. now I have two of these love them
Side note I will be getting one and just keep it on 15, it’s all about trigger control, honestly never found a reason to take a drill off its highest setting . I’m a contractor frame to finish and every thing in between.

Does it lock when your not pulling the trigger? I work on small engines but I don’t like to disassemble with a impact. Snapon has an impact that won’t turn so I can break the screw loose by twisting the tool then hit the trigger to unscrew. Same as tightening I stop when it’s tight then twist the tool to torque to my desired setting. If that makes sense lol.

All the new DeWalt 12v Extreme are available right now at my local Lowe's (Redmond, OR). They only have the kits, no bare tools. They have the impact driver / drill driver combo kit, impact driver kit, screwdriver kit, drill/driver kit and the impact wrench kit. I picked up the Impact Driver and a 3.0 AH battery. The 2.0 batterries that came with the kit also had fuel gauges which is awesome.
They got them at lowes in Texas too
Pretty neat! Question though, are those Worx Screw Drivers worth it for the same applications? They seem super sub compact; and if you dont need the torque, than is this neccessary?
I got it at Lowes for $50 (screwdriver + 3Ah battery). This is the most satisfying powertool I've ever bought. It's basically a drill driver with an impact driver collet. At level 1 it's so perfect for repairing a computer. When you switch to level 5-10 it has proper torque to assemble a furniture. Up to level 15 you can repair hinges on a cabinet.
So it's finally available in Australia, the update I've been long waiting for. I've been torturing my DCF610XE for 7 years now and it's still going strong. I'm a mechanic and mechanical plumber, it's been showered with so many types of car fluids, dropped at least 30 times and never fails to amaze me that it's all intact and even the handle mouldings are still good. I bought it because it's maximum torque was 7nm. 90% of the screws holding a euro engines and cars together are torqued to 10nm which means you can screw fast to one notch of the full torque of the driver, and then a quick 1/4 turn of the tension wrench is all that's needed to accurately finish off the screws. I also find it very useful screwing metal ductwork on large A/C installs, and with the clutch, I can do delicate things like pull apart electronic modules etc. I'm going to buy this new one in a few months time, it's 0.5cm fatter and 2cm taller but it's a little lighter, brushless and 4cm shorter which is a big plus in the sort of work I do.
As an avid user of the DeWalt 12v drill and impact I really want one of these. I could have used it this last weekend putting a bedroom set together.
Our company prefers Dewalt screwdriver much more than Milwaukee screw driver. Dewalt is very balance while holding and workign all day on repairing TV. some of our employee tried M12 before and their arm hurt so bad after a day. Balance is big deal if you work all day. Milwaukee need to work on this.
I have the milwaukee 12v screwgun and i mainly use it for repetitive tasks like if im like installing a million different outlet covers i use it really comes in handy but for taking things apart with speed i really recommend this type of tool

Its nice if you have to drive a lot of screws or if you want the wife and kids to use it. I rather pull out my 18v or 20v impact driver

I have the $59 Milwaukee one from Black Friday sales. It’s pretty nice. It’s handy for changing parts on something where there’s a lot of screws to have to take out and put back in. Don’t know if I’ll get the Walt.
I love mine - got it for tech work, and the occasional light duty job. It's a niche, but it fills it well.

I used the old dewalt 12 volt for like 6 years.
I purchased this screwdriver in kit form(DCF601F2) with two batteries last week July 2nd. They had the impact wrench along with the impact driver and drill/ driver combo available for sale here at my local Lowe’s already.
I also have the M12 Fuel Screwdriver 2402-22. It has quite a bit more torque than the new Dewalt Xtreme screwdriver.
Daniel Quintero I think that the M12 line of tools is a good tool line. It seems that Dewalt 12 volt line rerelease needs to be tested in the long term before buying it.
The older 12v screwdriver hex would fall apart after month of daily use but I love it when it wasn't broken. Drove a ton of 1 1/4. Better then holding a 20 volt heavy drill all day long. CANT WAIT for it to hit the market in canada (any idea when? ). Btw I love your guys videos

the kit is a bit expensive for a 12v system but it includes 2 batteries(samsung INR18650-20R based, i opened one lol) it is not bad.
small,light,ergonomic,perfect for a tech like me.

I use this for pocket hole screws almost exclusively - setting between 5 and 9 depending on the screw length.

Can the VCG crew do a short video on the differences between the m18 and m18 fuel? I love the performance I get from Ryobi for my lawn tools and airstrike nailers. Other power tools like drivers, hammer drill, etc. I feel like I'd be cheating myself if I didn't spend the extra bucks and get Milwaukee. I'm just not sure on the differences between the normal m18 and the fuel version. Keep up the great videos.
Is there any reason I should at all consider going Hercules 12v over this? Only reason I’m thinking about it at all is as a homeowner future tool purchases will be much more reasonable plus replacing a $40 piece of kit seems hard to pass up.

I bought my 8 year old a hart drill and impact. It was to bulky for him so I bought the DeWalt exstreme drill and impact. I've been running impacts to drive screws for so long I forgot about the screwdriver. Just bought my 8 year old the 12v exstreme screwdriver lol. He is doing the best learning with the screwdriver.
What’s the biggest difference between the 12v driver & the 12v drill besides the 1/4” bit holder vs the adjustable chuck?
I have the drill and impact driver in 12v extreme. Use em every day. Love em. Also have the circ saw, and saws all. All perform very well. Recommend em. Use larger A H batteries though

On UK site it is rated as 8N*m which is 70 Inch*lbs...
tiny bosch go2 is about 5N*m...
12v drill drivers usually rated 275 inch lb

I thing the dewalt 12volt, is so great for me, igual have it the screwdriver the the first gen. How many the New combo brushless 12volt impact and drill driver?
I used to use the older version of this when doing electrical work installing boxes, outlets/switches and cable clamps. I get snickers from other guys commenting on my "small" drill. But, its light and does the job especially when your toolbelt is already filled with hand tools for electrical work. Oh, the settings is for torque so you don't strip or break the screw and its very handy when fastening small screws into weak "wood" like IKEA furniture. I've since upgraded to the xtreme 12v impact driver which does the same thing in my opinion but with the ability to drive larger fasteners.
Do you still have fine control for say, IKEA furniture, with the impact?

Tried it vs xtreme impact and it’s faster in driving 3” screw down in 2x4 👍

I watched your videos and purchased the Xtreme Drill, Impact Driver, and the 3/8 impact because they came with the tstak cases. I wasn’t sure if I would like them, but it didn’t take long to fall in love with them! I’m going to order the Xtreme screwdriver just because, but I thought they were bringing out the Xreme multi also? Whatever, but DeWALT has to make a 12v Xtreme 5/8” SDS like soon!

I like the shorter format. I think that I will take a wait and see attitude to the 12 volt Dewalt line. I have been happy with the Milwaukee 12 volt tools so far and they have proved dependable. Will Dewalt tools be as dependable for the long term use?
Hello Vince,. This Dewalt offer I think would be a great DYI guy tool or maybe a cable installation guy. In my opnion the Bosch 12V is awesome, the Milwaukee 12V is dynamite, and of course the Fein 12V is super cool, all of which I own and use. In short I think there are better choices for general contractors and speciality contractors. Cool video, thank you sir.
Just bought it right before watching. I use for 1" fine thread into pine with precise plugged holes. Also own makita 12volt fd10r1 and dewalt dcf610 and the dewalt quick release system is far superior for triple driver work. 1 for recessed hole 1 for pilot bit 1 for screw. Haven't tried Hilti new 12volt screwdriver but also interested. Maybe you could review the new Hilti 12 volt screw and impact drivers. First Dewalt Dcf610 is still going with original batteries for 4 years of daily use.

I use this DCF601 on my motorcycle to remove almost everything. And i LOVE the clutch, it makes sure i wont strip any threads, my engine is aluminum, so i need to be v ery careful with the threads, so this is the perfect tool.
Right now i am on the market for the DCF901B that i think will have more than enough punch to remove and install heavier things like the clutch boss not, and the sprocket nuts.
I can't wait to have it, i am addicted to tools! jajajaja

Just tested out the m12 impact and I want to love it cuz well made and got a great price but few things that just can't leave my dewalt for. The grip is far better on the dewalt 12v and prefer the smaller sized slide on batteries. But the biggest let down is the lack of quick release on the milwaukee. Every impact should have quick release even my old brushed 12v dewalt has it.
very important to use the correct size PH bit, when they do fit correctly the wont slip, fall off or wobble at all
Ever since I put the carbon fiber shaman in my pocket I can't seem to use anything else, s90v keeps a mean edge for a lonnnng time lollol as for the dewalt im currently debating this or the bosch pocket driver/impact combo for the same price 🤔
I install a lot of Marvin winders and doors and I have to say these screwdriver guns are ideal. I personally bought the Milwaukee 12v, but brand doesn't matter. If you're doing fine installs, get a screwdriver gun.

Vince you forgot 1 important thing about the 12v Xtreme brushless impact driver & screwdriver. 👍 they both except and hold a 1 inch driver bit in the quarter inch chuck. And that's what really makes them more compact and fit into tight places. 👍

I wish I bought this and not my 8v gyro dewalt.. I love the tool have no problems but this one has to be a better tool. They just didn’t have it back then
I live these 12v Dewalts. Especially if you don’t need the power. They are much light and more compact. I have my own window and glass business. My guys always race to get my 12v pair. We will be converting to all of these 12 volts. I like that they use the same charger as the 20 volts. I just ordered ine of these. I think that the M12 line is much more developed and has more options. Huy the Dewalt has a more traditional grid and battery system and uses the same larger charger. Is they develop more options for the line it’s a homerun. We also use Ryobi for our nail guns, saws, lights, multi tool, and battery chip saw. We love Ryobi for their value and allows us to get more tool. My jobs don’t care that Ryobi is considered a cheaper tool or brand as long as they get done. And if the person using the tool is more important than the tool.
Lowe’s is selling this now, just picked it up. For $99, 2 batteries, a charger, and a bag I thought it was a decent price
I love battery operated screwdrivers ( of course not all ) but the ones with torque setting, I have;
•HitachiDB 10DL (10.8V) this runs on 12V battery too, which is considered the same battery from hitachi ! I’m really in love with this tool, & it’s VERY expensive one, no dissatisfaction at all
•DEKO DCS3.6DU2 Screwdriver (I personally recommend it) this tool has F U L L OPTIONS!!
15+ 1 Torque the 16th is Drilling mode, LED light to illuminate work space, ANOTHER LED Light at the bottom for general lighting, green.yellow.red battery indicator lights, 2 finger trigger, the tool rotates/adjusts from gun grip to straight tool, also cushioned grip for comfort! Has 200 Rpm motor from eBay for only 16.99 My 2nd favorite screwdriver
•Black&Decker “SMART DRIVER LI4000 Type1 3.6Volts (180 Rpm) yes not fast BUT it’s just awesome & very well built, check it out,

If your work includes adding plate covers then I’d use this for switches and outlets all day.

This tool is great for putting up metal roofs or siding. Drills are a pain in the ass and impacts strip the paint off of the fasteners. Use them daily.

Dewalt does make a chuck that fits 1/4 inch impact drivers
I went and bought one last week and just returned it yesterday. The first day I had it it was already having issues opening and closing. Plus, I didn't like that it was only 3/8. The 1/2 drill just went on sale at Lowe's too.
