- Nigel Farage said he decided to make a "discreet exit" after police shut down the National Conservativism Conference in Brussels.
Police said the city's district mayor had made the decision to close the event, which featured the likes of Mr Farage, former UK home secretary Suella Braverman and Hungary's leader Viktor Orban.
Mr Farage said he was being "cancelled" because of Brexit.

In what way dangerous?....just having a different point of view ?
If I don't agree with a valid political opinion, label it "far-right" and in doing so this enables one to close down such opinions and break up meetings of persons holding this view point. Not dissimilar to the antics of those who held political sway in 1930's Italy, Spain and Germany. It appears our European cousins have leant nothing from their rather sordid early 20th century history.
Disagree, they learnt a lot. Authoritarianism is the goal after all.
I disagree, we've learned a lot and that is that some of these people do not deserve to be given a platform promoted by the municipality. If they want to do this they'll need to do so on their private places, which is not forbidden

No we aren't. Belgium is a sovereign nation. The Mayor of Brussels is democratically elected. A bunch of foreign activists and politicians have arrived to hold a conference that he sees as undermining the values of Belgian society. The Mayor has used the powers he has to close the event. There is no entitlement for foreigners to go to another country and politically agitate. You'd be the first to complain if that happened in the UK no doubt.
