"Warriors depend on strength, rogues on dexterity, and mages on intelligence" I'm sorry, but this is just plain wrong. Each character has cards that scale off one of those 3 stats, so it would be perfectly viable to make an intelligence focused warrior. or strength based wizard. If you know what you're doing you can even focus on all 3 stats at once, which provides a lot of build variety per character.
Finished it several times. Ultimately in realm mode on solo torment. Game has great production values - music, graphics, ui. And great character and equipment development options Unfortunately combat overall is poorly balanced and once you understand class mechanics it becomes trivial. All these options of party and character design become redundant as you can solve the entirety of combat with a few simple formulas
I was really hoping this review would explain how the game is actually played. There's a lot of attention paid to the superficial elements, and some high level decision making. but you don't even explain that each hero has their own deck of cards, or how turn order is determined. I kinda left this review knowing not much more than when I pressed play on this video.

Cheers mate! @d20graffiti We used to have a fortnightly podcast, which you can still check out at: thebetanetwork.net/podcast/ It's full of silly banter and gags about games we've played in the past. Let us know what you think!
It definitely is! @CautionCU Has this been your favourite strategy-based game of the year so far? Or have you preferred others like Triangle Strategy or King Arthur: Knights Tale?
I was looking for something like slay of the spire and got recommended this. The game is pretty interesting but pc only is a downside, I just don't see why they didn't develop it for mobile devices. The game shouldn't have any difficulties to run it on the phone for most devices. I mean there are hardly any effects or animations at all, everything is pretty simple but gameplay is solid for this kind of game. As for the story, it feels like a tutorial that slowly lets you experience game features cause it might be a bit confusing at start.
Nope, it's very deep and there are less than obvious mechanics going on. SP wasn't entirely clear to me and mechanics like Fury and Channel are less accessible. The game seems to convolute too many things, throwing bonuses in so many different places (runes, items, skill grid, talents and it goes on) The whole item enchantment biz is too random as well. That said I've been hooked on this game for ages since Early Access for close to 200 hrs by now and the devs have actually made several improvements for suggestions I made.
@@roberttarmann2942 I can list them below: -making supplies cheaper, they used to cost 3 -leveling up characters not in your current party -improving Lucius' Commendment card. Proof is in the Steam Discussion board. *pats head*
Honestly, the game looks like a phone game without any of the microtransactions. Good concepts are worthless if you don't deliver a full product. Bad story in D&D is unacceptable. It is literally a game about narrative rules. How can you do a bad story with that? They just had to make a rogue-like card game. Disappointing. And then I noticed that there is not even much customization of the characters, but the graphics are really poor, so they should be able to give that at least. Part of the fun of D&D is making a cool character and building up a backstory to spring off of. They don't seem to have that. I do not see how you came to the conclusion it is anything like D&D. At least in spirit and feeling.

Thank you. Lack of game balance is what I fear most in this genre.
Combat is poorly balanced in real life too, a pikemen just always wins against a swordsman
Had the same portrait in BG. As someone who tends to play this games on harder settings, for challenging combat, I appreciate your comment.

Picked it up today. Couldn't pass on it when it was just 2 dollars.
This game is fun and complex.

Thanks for the review, bro.
Cheers, lad! @Bob
Have you tried out the game yet?

Made me buy the game. Subscribed for more. Sorry, wallet!
Thanks for your feedback and for subscribing! Hopefully your wallet stays intact 😂😂
@@TheBetaNetwork Thank YOU for amazing content!
they patched out all the fun stuff and made the game not fun any more. Sad
like what?
I strongly disagree with "its very easy to play". Amazing game, but clarity is not this games strong suit
