This video is criminally underviewed. Meddle is just such a good album, and it's nice to see someone appreciate it. The groove segment of Echoes might be my favorite snippet of music, ever.
@@ShawnKavanagh bro you said it. I'm doing the thing where I'm listening to Pink Floyd's entire discography and lately I finished meddle and I got to say so far it's their best album. I just can't wait to see if albums like the wall and the dark side of the Moon can beat it
I’m surprised no one commented that “Echoes” was never performed live after the Gdańsk concert. David considered it a conversation between him and Rick (keys & harmonies) and after Rick passed away, he refuses to play it.
I remember playing this version of Echoes for my much younger Girlfriend back in the day! She said, “I didn’t know Pink Floyd played “porno music”, during the funky part!!! Then she laughed at Dave working the whammy bar, saying it looked like he was masturbating his guitar! I simply said, “ If you want a musical orgasm, you do what it takes”! We both enjoyed it, and had a good time watching it!! She did get a sense of how Floyd was NOT just an average band, but something a bit special! (At least to me)!!!
Awesome reaction thank you for reminding us the joy we felt when this was new I never hear on classic rock channels Only the wall and dark side are widely played This is a gem I’m pulling out my old album and re loving Pink Floyd because of you
I love seeing younger bro's getting into PF, and looking at the album cover of Meddle did you notice it is a ear ? And the best thing about Florida to be is you don't need to be high to listen, it makes you high.
People might think I'm weird, but 'A Pillow of Winds' has been my favorite Pink Floyd song for a long time. It is their most transcendental song, like a lullaby. It can remove you from harsh reality in an instant. I never got country vibes from it, except maybe the steel guitar, though.
Not a weird take at all. When I got into Floyd after really digging into Dark Side and The Wall, I was awestruck when I heard Meddle and for example, Dogs off of Animals. And it’s definitely not county, but more folksy, almost in the same vein of the acoustic parts of Stairway to Heaven. But there’s flashes of blues and jazz in Seamus and San Tropez. Always had a soft spot for folksy whimsical acoustic stuff like the sounds in Pillow. That sort of style was always my favorite in Zeppelins stuff as well, and David’s whispery smooth falsetto is just suited perfectly for this style. Just another side of Floyd less exposed, but beautiful and transcendent as you say.
My favorite album is the wall, but meddle and specifically pillow of winds just evokes such calming imagery for me. I always imagine myself living in a tiny house by a lagoon or lake, watching the sunset into the twilight, seeing storm clouds in the distant horizon. It evokes such a complex feeling of happiness and sadness, hopelessness and content. The entire album is just so nautical themed, whenever I go to the beach I just lay in the sun and listen to pillow of winds and echoes,
Shortly after this album was released, Pink Floyd did the CLASSIC Concert film “Live at Pompeii”, which I would recommend to any new fan of Pink Floyd! It is simply amazing that they master the music video, before anyone else ever thought of it!! “One of These Days….” Was probably the hardest rocking songs Floyd ever did, ( almost proto-punk in its mood and approach)!! ever, and Gilmour became the King of Psychedelic slide guitar!!! “A Pillow of Winds”, and “Fearless” are both lovely beautiful songs! The latter one becoming a minor Classic! “San Tropie” was ragged out a lot in the early days, glad to see this guy appreciating the range the band could play with this! (And kind of endearing to hear Roger singing a happy song for once! “Seamus”, was more of a novelty song, and did prove they had a sense of humor!! “Echoes”, to me is their Magnum Opus, (and in my opinion, the most perfect song they ever created)!! It’s also the centerpiece for the Pompeii video, and that live version is even better than the album Version! I love the funky middle break, where David goes crazy on the whammy bar makes me lose my mind!! At this point, my mind just melted, thinking that mortal humans could never create music like this!!!!! The weird sound effects portion my be the only part that may turn of some, since it’s SO WEIRD! But they bring it all back together in an EPIC END RECOVERY LIKE Floyd always does!! My favorite things about this song is how David and Rick both sing as a duet, Their voices where always beautiful together! And the instrumental coda where Dave’s Guitar and Rick’s keyboards are just “talking” back and forth!! This song really captures the best features and strengths of the entire band!!! This is my favorite Floyd Album, because this was the one where IT ALL CAME TOGETHER!!
I've watched many reaction videos to Pink Floyds music and you're the best I've come across so far. Probably because you're doing it right. Sitting down, headphones and a smoke on the go 👌🏻
Glad you did the live version at the end, it was a good contrast. That whole live at pompei concert is amazing, not just the music but also the visuals.
Whales, man. Whales! At least, I believe that is the general consensus. I think the boys were just goofin' around, discovering all the new sounds they could make on the new equipment. Their brains melded those sounds into a work of art.
When I was a little kid in the mid 80s I snuck into my brothers room and stole the cassette tape of Meddle. I popped it into a tap recorder to listen to it and San Tropez was my fav track on the entire tape. As good as the other tracks are, it's still my favourite from sheer nostalgia... Pink Floyd, simply rules..
This has to be my favorite album by Pink Floyd. But it's hard to put them in any rated order since they never made a bad album. Another older Floyd album, made before Dark Side Of The Moon, was Relics. Deffinatly worth a listen. But hell these guys are musical masterminds.
Please do Piper at the gates of dawn, you won’t be disappointed. It’s got a lot of the original front man and guitarist and founder of Pink Floyd, Mr. Syd Barrett. The whimsical nature of Syd’s writing and singing styles are such a welcome listen in a world of mainstream music
It always blows my mind that David is only 25 years old here. As someone who grew up with this music, but wasn't born when it came out--I always thought of them as so much older when they made the music. Yet now that i'm in my late-30s they're just kids here and it makes it so much more impressive. This is true about all the musicians from their era and before.
Hey dude, I stumbled upon your channel recently because I've been getting back into Pink Floyd. Not that I haven't always been a fan, but my area recently experienced a full Solar Eclipse. We were right in the path of totality, and 3 days before it my son and partner went to go see Wish You Were Here a Pink Floyd Tribute that has been going strong for 30 years. I'm still shook with how amazing of an experience the eclipse was, and I'm glad that you're discovering this music. All the love, man. Check out Wish You Were Here if they ever play in your area.
You could go back to the beginning and cover Piper at the Gates of Dawn. Or better yet the album Ummagumma. It has the best previous songs and some. It was always the one saved for late at night on camping trips. Another forgotten LP is Adam Hart Mother. It is Pink Floyd's first Venture into quadriponics it is also the Adam Hart mother Suite that is most covered by orchestras. 🤠🏞️🐂
I mistake the smoke behind ur screen to my side when I am looking sideways thinkin someting is burning, thats funny lol thx for reaction this is my favorite album from Pink Floyd overall
Right now go back and watch your own reaction to this, and when you get to 31:51 of the whole reaction Turn the volume up double as the groovy section drops in!!!
I always felt this was the 1st album where they are waking up from the LSD induced craze and where they are laying down the foundation of their sound going forward.
Dude, I hope you smoked a big blunt before listening to this! As it has been said many times: You don’t need drugs to make Floyd sound better, but listening to Floyd makes your drugs better!
The bass in 'One of these days' was played by Roger Waters and Dave Gilmour, hence the double tracking effect, as Dave played bass better than Roger (no surprise)
"ONE OF THESE DAYS" TWO VOCAL LINES RUN SIMULTANEOUSLY (1) ONE OF THESE DAYS I WILL CUT YOU INTO PIECES" OR "TINY PIECES" (2) " ONE OF THESE DAYS I WILL DANCE WITH THE EVIL BEAST" "PILLOW OF WINDS" "A COLD RAIN IS FALLING IN A GOLDEN DAWN" APPEARS TO BE A REFERENCE TO THE GOLDEN DAWN--A ROSICRUCIAN BRANCH THAT USE "MAGIC MUSHROOMS--THE RAIN CAUSES THE "SHROOMS TO GROW "FEAR;LESS" AS YOU RISE ABOVE THE FEAR LINES IN YOUR BROW YOU'LL LOOK DOWN--HEAL THE FROWNS ON THE FACES IN THE CROWD"
One Of These Days and Echoes, just f**king hair-raising, in a good way. I hate San Tropez and Seamus. But Fearless...Fearless is amazing. More so for having Liverpool football fans singing.
This video is criminally underviewed. Meddle is just such a good album, and it's nice to see someone appreciate it. The groove segment of Echoes might be my favorite snippet of music, ever.
You definitely said it!
Bro and then it just cleanly transitions to the epic part of the song. Honestly Echoes is the best song on the album
I will never lose my love for Meddle
Finding their sound blueprint for the future
Building on Atom Heart Mother
@@ShawnKavanagh bro you said it. I'm doing the thing where I'm listening to Pink Floyd's entire discography and lately I finished meddle and I got to say so far it's their best album. I just can't wait to see if albums like the wall and the dark side of the Moon can beat it
Yeah wtf 5k??
I’m surprised no one commented that “Echoes” was never performed live after the Gdańsk concert. David considered it a conversation between him and Rick (keys & harmonies) and after Rick passed away, he refuses to play it.
Nick Mason then decided to pick it up
That song was the epic peak of David and Rick together! They played and sang so well together for that epic PF sound I love and remember!
I remember playing this version of Echoes for my much younger Girlfriend back in the day!
She said, “I didn’t know Pink Floyd played “porno music”, during the funky part!!! Then she laughed at Dave working the whammy bar, saying it looked like he was masturbating his guitar! let's not forget this was recorded in 1971 . PF were so ahead of their time and this is such a wonderful album
The cover is an ear underwater listening to the music of waves in the ocean...so clutch!!
Track 1, side 2 of Meddle, aka Echoes, is where in the evolutionary ladder that Pink Floyd become Pink Floyd.
You can definitely hear DSOM in it.
Music is the absolute connection of souls
You're bogarting the good stuff😂
Echoes! One of my all time favorites!!
This is still my favorite Pink Floyd album.
I'm an older dude who still rocks...gotta say man
Keep being you bro...when I watch your stuff it
takes me back...thank you!
Awesome reaction thank you for reminding us the joy we felt when this was new
I never hear on classic rock channels
Only the wall and dark side are widely played
This is a gem
I’m pulling out my old album and re loving Pink Floyd because of you
"you'll never walk alone "

Fearless is the Favorite ❤ That's the Liverpool Team.❤
Glad you did the live version at the end, it was a good contrast. That whole live at pompei concert is amazing, not just the music but also the visuals.
You never forget your first time hearing Echoes. Great reaction again.
Whales, man. Whales! At least, I believe that is the general consensus. I think the boys were just goofin' around, discovering all the new sounds they could make on the new equipment. Their brains melded those sounds into a work of art.
DUDE look up on youtube echoes synced up with the end of '2001 a space odyssey'
Just in case you didn't know, the distorted lyric in the middle says 'One of these days I'm going to cut you into little pieces'.
It's been so long since I listened to this album. I need to re-visit it.
Song one was used in “The Walking Dead” Meddle is always gas ! (Echoes) is god tier
Where? I wanna know and see that
I well up whenever I watch the last live performance of echoes , the end of an era , their harmonies vocally & musically was magic
When you go "oh my God"... I go "yeah, yeah" lol. Meddle is top tier.
I agree. It's better than atom heart mother for sure
Haha the Liverpool chant at the end of Fearless!
My very favorite Floyd album in high school
And my school was High
Man, this was fun. Great reaction.
"Fearless" is the best Floyd song ever...
This has to be my favorite album by Pink Floyd. But it's hard to put them in any rated order since they never made a bad album. Another older Floyd album, made before Dark Side Of The Moon, was Relics. Deffinatly worth a listen. But hell these guys are musical masterminds.
agree relics is epic
Obscured by clouds is another wonderful underrated album especially childhoods end burning bridges and the brilliant Mudmen
This was the first Floyd album I bought, I was 19, it was so different then, but in a good way 👍
It's all in the way you light it!
It always blows my mind that David is only 25 years old here. Love the Nuggets hat, love the knowledge, love the curiosity. Great channel...lots of love brother❤
58:38 this hits way different when you're on ... when you're watching it...
Almost got it 😂
Love the hat. Denver Nuggets and Pink Floyd are my favorites.
You could go back to the beginning and cover Piper at the Gates of Dawn.
Or better yet the album Ummagumma.

One of these days is a favorite on this album here
I highly recommend going totally Jeff Spicoli when listening to this album. Well done LIL J.
I mistake the smoke behind ur screen to my side when I am looking sideways thinkin someting is burning, thats funny lol
thx for reaction this is my favorite album from Pink Floyd overall
Pink Floyd was the first one to use techno music
You need to react on Echoes live in Pompei man..
The album cover is an ear with an overlaying of waterdrop rings.
Right now go back and watch your own reaction to this, and when you get to 31:51 of the whole reaction Turn the volume up double as the groovy section drops in!!!
I always felt this was the 1st album where they are waking up from the LSD induced craze and where they are laying down the foundation of their sound going forward.
Both Roger and Dave are playing bass together. Dave starts it and then you can hear Roger come in shortly after.
The Dark Side of the Moon may be the greatest Pink Floyd album, one of the greatest ever, but Echoes is their best song, for sure…
It's Live in Pompeii 1975 you will love it
1972 actually. In the movie they show clips from their next album from 1973, which we all know the name of…😊
Dude, I hope you smoked a big blunt before listening to this! As it has been said many times: You don’t need drugs to make Floyd sound better, but listening to Floyd makes your drugs better!
Nice Hat, bruh
If Roger had his fingers in it, it is Great.
You should have way more videos
I hope. Do you all know who the Phantom of the Opera stole the music from?
The bass in 'One of these days' was played by Roger Waters and Dave Gilmour, hence the double tracking effect, as Dave played bass better than Roger (no surprise)
There's also something about 1 new set of strings and 1 set worn in.
You should listen to Atom Heart Mother
That’s one you light up for 28:27
"ONE OF THESE DAYS" TWO VOCAL LINES RUN SIMULTANEOUSLY (1) ONE OF THESE DAYS I WILL CUT YOU INTO PIECES" OR "TINY PIECES" (2) " ONE OF THESE DAYS I WILL DANCE WITH THE EVIL BEAST" "PILLOW OF WINDS" "A COLD RAIN IS FALLING IN A GOLDEN DAWN" APPEARS TO BE A REFERENCE TO THE GOLDEN DAWN--A ROSICRUCIAN BRANCH THAT USE "MAGIC MUSHROOMS--THE RAIN CAUSES THE "SHROOMS TO GROW "FEAR;LESS" AS YOU RISE ABOVE THE FEAR LINES IN YOUR BROW YOU'LL LOOK DOWN--HEAL THE FROWNS ON THE FACES IN THE CROWD"
It's as if an orca was singing with pink Floyd
Y’all recon they had their equipment dropped by an airship or a lorry brought it?
One Of These Days and Echoes, just f**king hair-raising, in a good way. I hate San Tropez and Seamus. But Fearless...Fearless is amazing. More so for having Liverpool football fans singing.
I think they’re the only band to utilize a dog as a lead singer
Digital is ok, but nothing replaces the actual album back in the day. Echoes takes up all of side two!
Credence Clearwater Revival. Just saying.
In case i am late to the party....its an ear
Definitely Animals…
Scale up your headphones please.
That was supposed to come out awesome a stoner music
This is not Hip hop, This is classified, Progressive rock, Psychedelic rock. Acid rock .Art rock. Space rock ,Experimental rock . But not Hip Hop
Play some stoner music yes
