The 1-4, 3-4, 1-2 selections on the weapon selector only apply to bombing "B". UB pods will fire the number of rockets as shown on 4,8,16 "RKT" selection first from inboard and then outboard in all cases. There is no station selection function for UB pod rockets except by switching off pylons on the right wall. It's optional GYRO/MSL for AG rockets by preference and experience. It might as well say "mirror clamped, mirror unclamped." Lock button on the stick has a secondary function to electrically slave the mirror to center if it free floats in gyro mode. Official practice is to hold the sight damping/lock on button maneuvering into the dive and then release with reticle on target for lock on of the ground. DCS doesn't do this perfectly. Radar ranges to the small x at -1.5° which is close enough when not locked. While it should have used the 2000m scale regardless (bug), your scale was 9km because you were in MSL setting (only MSL, S, AUTO uses 9km scale in reality). When you said "I'm going to get a little bit closer" you were at 6km not
The most useful and informative comment I've seen in a long while. Where did you get all of this information? You're making my journey to mastering the MiG-21 a lot easier!
Something to remember, see the red lines on the accelerometer? You should stay within that number of Gs or you will rip the a2g armaments off the weapon pylons.
The record needles record the min-max G since reset. The red painted lines are just panel alignment so if maintenance has to pull the gauge he can put it back in the same orientation. There is no information about G limits on the accelerometer itself.
Hello Cap, I love to watch your videos. Very good stuff!! Maybe i have an additional information.... ....the labeling on the weapon selector with 1-4, 1-2 and 3-4 is for the bombs only to select the pylons. For the S-5 Rockets you select not the pylons, you select the quantity of rockets per wing you shoot every time you push the release button. 4ea per wing, 8ea per wing, 16 ea per wing, regardless of the inner or outer pylon. See the B for bombs (pylons) and the RKT for rockets (quantity) below the numbers. Hope i could help ;-) Regardless of weapons, A/G or A/A, for a better weapon management sometimes it could be helpfull to deselect pylons with the pylon power switches on the right panel.
I have been studying the MiG21 for quite a while now and just started looking at weapons - great tutorial - made loads of notes - looking forward to putting what I have learned into practice. Just one thing I would like to check... when you explained launch authority you advised to start firing at 1.7km but on the first practice run the launch authorisation light didn't come on until the needle was showing approx 0.5km. Now that you have had more time to practice, do you go with gut instinct or is it best to wait for the light?
I watched a lot of ur vids religiously on the MiG 21 thinking that i was not preparing the plane correctly to shoot missiles and drop bombs... for some reason the release weapon was not assigned. oof ): well now I'm have heaps of fun but that is just sad
I spent 2 hours redoing what Cap did, but was unable to repeat. I followed every instruction (manual, training, cap's vid) but the rockets never go where the pipper is placed. Has a past update screwed this up? I love the 21, but I think this module is in need of a major update (especially the dirty canopy overlay!). The manual, the missions, etc....they are all partly made and look unfinished.

Love these Mig-21 videos! It's been my favorite plane for years. So janky, so DCS. Thanks guys.
Superb Video. I love the Mig21. My dad flew it for 15+ years or so. The plane looks neat and it is like a rocketship.
Actually, Cap, when you set the target size you were looking at the AA scale. The AG scale is in red to the right of the knob. ;)
Something to remember, see the red lines on the accelerometer? You should stay within that number of Gs or you will rip the a2g armaments off the weapon pylons.
My first bombing run I droped bombs on target along with my wings and everything else.
I think you might be talking about the min and max G loading indicators, Arjun. ;)
@@Stahlwollvieh Yes, but they are notified by the red lines depending on the plane load out.

Neat video !!! I flew the bis in real life. You make it look like the fun it is !!!
Keep up your work !!! 👍 Well done !
Awesome Ati!

@@grimreapers Tnx!
@@grimreapers After today's update (2.5.6.49314 Open Beta) it works like a charm.
my launch auth is always on?
How do you feel about the MiG 21 Cap?
Love it! Just my kinda gal
@@grimreapers i was wondering. at first you didn't seem so enthused. She's a special bird.
anyway what do you use? keyboard+mice or controller+keyboard and mice?
@ApeX what's HOTAS?
@ApeX do you use mouse and keyboard?
Abdurrahman Y.M Stick and throttle (and trackir probably)
Russian aircraft = aim and shoot, french aircraft = NOOO YOU HAVE TO CALCULATE THE AIRPRESSURE AND THE EXACT MESUREMENTS OF THE TARGET FIRST NOOO
