I was crazy about Elvis, and my mother bought me a little plastic ukulele so I could pretend to play Blue Suede Shoes! I eventually talked her into buying me a miniature motorcycle jacket after going to see Jailhouse Rock. They didn't have blue suede shoes, so I settled for gray!
You can tell that Elvis is thinking 'stuff it, I'm gonna go for it' at the end. Like his way of saying a big F U to the TV stations! The looks on the faces of the backing singers say it all!!!!
You watch him today and realize that no entertainer today or since exudes his level of charm, playfulness, sexuality, seductiveness, charisma and a genuinely good and open heart. The self promoting arrogance of artist's today is kinda ugly in comparison isn't it?
Artists are required to self promote today if they want to stand any chance. The game is completely different than it was 50 (or even 20) years ago. Record labels do not have the kind of money they used to have to promote most artists. Distribution is what kept their pockets filled, and they don’t have that anymore.
@@a.m.son222 You misinterpreted what I said. I didn't say self promotion was a problem. I'm well aware that it's required today. It's the arrogance, self importance, aloofness, too cool, fake caring, etc... it's unattractive.
