This was 1957, they would only show him from the waist up because of his dance moves, lol.... its pretty much in the very beginning of his success. He was so confident and that was so damn attractive.. He is still very much missed.. RIP Elvis
Muhammad Ali and Elvis were buddies, and Ali had this song as his favourite. «I was the Elvis of boxing. You never realise what you have until it’s gone. I don’t admire nobody, but Elvis was the most humble, sweetest guy you’d ever wanna meet. No one could sing like Elvis.» (three quotes by Ali)
You might not have noticed that he's only shown from the waist up. There was so much heat about his movements that while Sullivan wanted him on the show again (for ratings of course), he was only filmed from the waist up. Boy have times changed.
There are actually 4 guys - The Jordanaires - and they sang backing with him from 1956-1968. The girls (The Sweet Inspirations) started singing with him when he began in Vegas in 1969. Sorry you had to endure the haters but Elvis ignored them throughout his career and just carried on and so have you. It's really refreshing to see you enjoy him so much - you really get it ❤
I subscribed for your Elvis reactions. Dont worry about people and what they say, the older you get you start to not give a s..t about peoples opinions anymore. Im 59 and have been listening to him since i was a young boy. My mother had many records and she played them in the house. I remember very clearly the day he died, I remember finishing eating supper with my family and walking to my friend's house around the block. When i knocked on the door, his grandmother answered, and she was crying. She said Elvis died today. I didn't even go inside, I just walked back home. Everyone was still in the kitchen and I told them that Elvis had just died . We went to the living room and turned on the television and watched it on the news. Everyone just sat in silence and disbelieve. I saved the newspaper from the next day. The front page simply said The King Is Dead. I think everyone I knew watched the funeral procession on television. To this day I still listen to his music and now I enjoy watching young people discover his amazing voice and charisma through reactions on UA-cam. The King may have died but his legacy lives on 47 years later. He is in my opinion the biggest musical and cultural icon of the 20 th century. It would be great if you reacted to all The Ed Sullivan show appearances, most are kinda short like Dont Be Cruel but maybe you can react to 2 or 3 at a time. I believe you can find them all in the order they were performed. Keep doing what you do , the Elvis fans support you and there are lots of us.
You're either born with it or you're not. You can try faking it but will get found out evebtually. Elvis was just that guy at the right time. He was so young and shy in this video, but could flip the switch into entertainer mode.and drive the girls crazy. Notice he was on my shown from the waist up. He was banned from swiveling his hips on tv after his first performance, so the studio audience saw him swivel at the end but we couldnt. That's why he exited the stage so fast. He never took himself seriously and loved to play around while singing. Keep up the great reactions. Your a genuine guy.who enjoys the trip down the different music genre rabbit holes. I love your take on the music of my generation.
Elvis was the whole package and so many were jealous of him.All the girls knew he was what they wanted. His star shown bright for many years. At this point he sang with Scotty Moore, Bill Blackand DJ Fontana. Back up singers were the Jourdinaires. They recorded on all Elvis' records and movies.
The men are The Jordanaires that Elvis hired to do his backup at that time and worked with him for many years. It wasn’t until Elvis did Vegas after his movie contract ended that he hired the Sweet Inspirations, and either The Imperials or The Stamps. I believe it was the Imperials with JD Sumner (baritone), then it was The Stamps that JD Sumner put together. Also as backup was Millie Kirkland then Kathy Westmoreland that were the high sapranoes.
I just looked at the date.. Elvis's bday was 1/8 /1935 so he was 3 days 22 yrs old.. and I'm listening now to you saying ppl are hating on you because you like and respect Elvis.. don't understand hate and never will..
Come si fa a non ballare, Elvis è spiritoso possiede carisma, simpatia bravura bellezza.. the king.. per favore you've Lost tha loving feeling reacsion grazie 👑👑💯💯
You are so right, Elvis had everything. By his third appearance on Ed Sullivan he had four gold records. The women The Sweet inspirations started to sing back up in Los Vegas 1970. At 14 yrs old I was in Love with Elvis. He was my first pretend boyfriend. All my friends felt this emotional bond with Elvis. His unique voice has beautiful transitions and the sounds he makes. You just didn’t hear this from other singers. Yes, we have to admit he was not only good looking but had natural sec appeal.
This is Elvis third appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show. This is the famous from the waist up performance, which Elvis only found out about a short while before he went on, so he added the flashy waistcoat and extra hand movements. The Jordinares were a very successful gospel quartet that backed many artists such as Patsy Cline and Ricky Nelson. They worked with Elvis from 1956-1968 but were based in Nashville and so didn`t stay with Elvis during the Vegas years. The Sweet Inspirations who included Cissy Huston (Whitney`s mom) and The Imperials opened with Elvis in Vegas but after one season Cissy decided to stop touring and so Millie Kirkham stepped in for a couple of years and was later replaced by Kathy Westmoreland. In 1972 The Imperials decided to part ways with Elvis citing the touring schedule as an issue and so were replaced with JD Sumner and The Stamps quartet. Music has no color my friend so enjoy with your heart, educate with your mind, love with your whole being and pity the haters as they are the ones losing out. Great reaction please keep up the fab work.
My parents met 4 yrs after this .. and Lord knows my Mother loved Elvis.. the hugest memory of my childhood was the day Elvis died.. I was 10 and my Mother lost it.. Lost it.. I'll never forget how insane she went. But I will say.. his voice was phenomenal and wow.. he was gorgeous.. Lord knows in my era I loved my Hair Bands.. but Elvis.. with that look..I melt.. How can you not as a red blooded heterosexual woman.. He was just so HOT
He is so beautiful, talented, etc. We all have fun going way back to see Elvis. He went from rock and roll and ballads, 1954 to 1958, the Army, to 1960 then movies with music for eight years, them in 1968 he went back to his music and entertainment that we see only on UA-cam. He’s gone but never forgotten. Don’t apologize for loving Elvis. He would have loved you because he believed in kindness. Watch his videos about being the King of Kindness or a Generous Heart. And the haters will always hate 😢
He started out with just a couple guys, a bassist, and lead guitar, with him banging on his acoustic. All of the back up singers evolved as his career progressed. Thanks for sharing!
The more you listen to genres outside your familiar zone, the more enjoyable life becomes. Only a fool refuses to listen to good music be that Rock, Blues, Jazz, Country, Classical, Bluegrass, Western Swing or R&B. All have something to offer and there are treasures in every genre.
He's all of 22 yrs old right here.. dang.. My mother was 16 watching this.. I'm 57 now watching this.. I understand why she loved him so much.. this man just had IT.. My mom is in a facility now, 82 yrs old, and I take her out twice a week and I always put Sirius Radio on to the Elvis channel for her.. but I ain't gonna lie.. I love it too.
I'm SO sorry you got those negative emails. Elvis is for everyone ❤️ And I wish people would understand that. I loved your reaction 🥰 And it is true. No one can compare to Elvis 😊 Elvis has been a constant my whole life. Elvis is love ❤️
the 4 gentlemen backing Elvis in his younger years were a quartet called The Jordanairs and in my opinion complimented Elvis beautiful voice better than any other group though im a 70s Elvis fan
The Sound of Your Cry, bro. I think you will really like this song. Im surprised you didn't get all the girls, you seem very lovely and sincere. 😊 Wow, just wow! I cannot imagine being the type of crazy that you email someone about listening to a singer. Thats just sad man. Peace ❤
Hi CV, Loved your reaction! On this particular evening, Elvis was recorded from only the waist up so that he would not offend the good church going viewers of the day. Ironically, he was belittled, criticized and, maligned by newspaper reporters, churches and politicians because he moved and sang like a black man at a time in America when the divide between the races was great. Elvis stepped over every invisible line imaginable mixing musical genres while moving sensually to music that was only intended for the blacks or the whites. From this one man, the voice of mankind was notable and he terrified mankind in turn. Sadly, he had wanted none of this for he was merely trying to bring his parents from the depths of great poverty. Sadder yet, there remain people to this day who do not want a white man signing black music.💔
I don't know if you've looked into his time in the army. He didn't try to get out of being drafted. He could have gone with the army entertainment division as well. He said he didn't want any favors and went to a regular unit. According to his fellow soldiers, he pulled his weight any was just one of the guys. This won over some of the older generation that had not accepted him yet.
1957 Elvis was 22 years old. Young, innocent, energetic and talented beyond words. 🙏✝❤🇺🇸 Yes, that was the beginning of his career. The huge band, male backup, female backup singers was developed, when the movies making days ended and he began with live concerts and the Las Vegas years. (The hateful emails are stupid, immature and must stop. I loved talent, whatever the color was of the artist is not important. Be the person you are and don’t apologize, as Elvis was being ridiculed and treated unfairly, he continued to preform with a smile, as he shared his talent for us to enjoy.) 👍✅
Notice: This was when the camera could only be shown from the waist up. That's what the comment at the end "here we go" was all about. He let loose and moved his hips for the fans in the audience any way!
This is when he was only allowed to be filmed from the waist up because his hip movements were concidered to vulgar to be on tv...can you imagine that even being possible...Elvis Presley entered my life when i was 11 years old and im now 70 and this man has never left my heart...he is the king for a reason...I love seeing your reactions when you see him..i believe you are genuine and that is why you will get haters...Elvis lived with it all his life...but he also knew how much his fans loved him...TCB forever ❤❤❤
Expanding on what you said, my theory is that what made Elvis irresistible to women (apart from the looks, charm, talent) is that Elvis was both the good boy who needed protecting, and the sexual, dangerous bad boy. Elvis comes out on stage sweet, nervous self-deprecating. Then he starts to sing and he is instantly transformed into the confident, wild, dangerous, sexual being (not as much here but ck out "Hound dog" ). Then when he is done singing he is back to the sweet, nervous boy thanking God. What women could resist? I'm not sure any other well known singer had this dual personality, they were either the good boy (Pat Boone, Paul Anka) or the bad boy (Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash).
When he started out his back-up singers were the Jordaines. They did the back-up on his movies as well. When he went to Vegas he had his TCB band and the Sweet Inspirations and Karhy Westmoreland was the soprano singer who was his back-up singers in Vegas.
When he opened in Las Vegas Millie Kirkham was the high soprano. Kathy Westmoreland started as her replacement on 8/16/69. The male singing group --The Imperials. J.D. and The Stamps Quartet replaced the Imperials by November of 1971.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤! Absolutely Love Your Comments!!! ❤❤❤❤!! Sweety, Ignore the Haters!! Elvis didn't have a racist bone in his body!! He would be very proud to know that you are listening and enjoying his music! ❤❤❤❤❤! Please don't stop listening to Elvis! We Love your reactions and I am so proud of you!!!
Great to see you doing more Elvis - some you might want to check is Hurt, Loving You, You'll Never Walk Alone, and all the Ed Sullivan shows that Elvis was on. Elvis was in 5 Hall if Fame Genres. Elvis had many "brown" friends - many many. Ignore the haters - they are jealous a-holes, Another "brown" guy who is an Elvis fan is a reactor called Vibe Reactions - Ray, A year ago he never listened to Elvis and now is an avid fan - just came back from Graceland - ypu should check out his channel
You can listen to any one you want.. any body that tells you something like that have a problem.. I grew up with Elvis and I only like 3 of his songs.. my best friend goes nuts for him 🥰
Oh, the band is The Bluemoon Boys, Bill Black, Scotty Moore & DJ Fontana. Elvis started with Bill & Scotty at Sun Records and DJ came in when they added drums. Bill started another group when Elvis was drafted. They reunited for the ‘68 Comeback Special (that was actually only named The Singer Special by Singer Sewing Machine Co) when they did the live performance in the middle of the audience. I’d say that was the very first “Unplugged” performance; and just may be where MTV got the idea.
The Jordaniers were a gospel group IF my memory serves. My 81 year old brain isn’t always right. I remember I was surprised when they were Elvis’s backup singers!
He was told not to move about and they only filmed him from the waist up for a time and he had a hard time trying not to dance,he had to endure a lot of hate from so called Christian people not realising how religious he was, listen to his gospel songs please, love from the UK
Fantastic, you tube is full of black guys, and girls, reacting to Elvis, and they all love him, so just ignore the very ignorant haters, they are just very jealous ❤
Elvis hung around and affected our lives for so long. So many years. He was just part of the family. We worried about him, we wished him everything and we were there when he was down, too.
CV what were the three words?😊 Stop kidding yourself ; You have the charm and the charisma (period; full stop). If you have it now, you had it back then! 👍❤ This was so much fun watching this reaction. Keep doing you🎉
Enjoying your Elvis Reactions. Been a fan for almost sixty years. Nothing going to change that. Sorry you are having problems with haters. Best thing to do is either ignore them or feel sorry for them … or both.
Funny reaction 😂. You should check out a documentary from 2005 called Elvis the early years. It’s long but has lots of great information. Sorry about all of the haters. A lot of people still believe that Elvis was a racist but they never bothered to check the facts.
Elvis & The Black Community will totally dispel that particular myth of Elvis being racist. Some people are just so uninformed & don’t bother to check out facts for themselves. Great to see lots of Reactors have been showing that documentary Part 1 & Part 2 on their channels, & many admitting that they listened to others without checking into it.
Elvis was fantastic performer and was a 8 degree black belt. Elvis was loved my men and women. I saw himn beform 5 times. His music will last forever. Elvis was the best beformer I ever saw saw. Forget the haters and enjoy this man who believe in God. Someone yelled and called him a king. Elvis said Im not King. Hey said Jesus is the only king.
Elvis should be for everyone, colour dont (or shouldnt) come into it, Good music is good music no matter who sings it or listens to it. I;m a white guy, Elvis is my main man but I love Fats Domino, The platters and also Eddie Fisher, perry como etc etc etc, all amazing artist's in there own right.
Now you understand Elvis. Your brother with his 3 words: you've got the sense of humour, which ladies love. In a documentary, it was revealed that Elvis's grandfather in Kentucky was black. I think his mother's name, Love, is usually Jewish. His father's name, Presley, is a derivation of the British name, Priestly. Elvis's father was only 16 when he was born; his mother was 20-21?. Put it all together and you've got dynamite. All over London, in the Fifties, young men were copying that hairstyle. They called it The D.A. (Duck's Arse), because it dovetailed at the nape. In the Sixties, he wore The Pompadour hairstyle. Regards, J.H., England.
Hi CV, thanks for the update on the ELVIS song and when you say that I know that you don't understand why I feel like this about Elvis is so Loved Around the World and No one who is not a true Elvis fan, Will never get it and I am speaking of my sister who went to my first Elvis concert, but she doesn't get it and Never will. Love your Elvis reactions. TCB 1935
May I suggest an Elvis song you can react to? It’s called You’ll Think Of Me. Recorded in 1969. Hardly anyone has reacted to this song and it’s a good one
Those singers were the Jordanaires. They sang on all of the records Elvis Recorded at RCA in the 50's. There were 4 Jordanaires. They were based in Nashville Tennessee. The Jordanaires sang on many records of Artist recording in Nashville. Elvis recorded at RcA Studio B in Nashville. All of his Movie Soundtrack Albums were Recorded at RCA Studios in Hollywood, California.
Can you imagine being just 21 years old and having that much success, charisma, confidence, and talent....not to mention good looks.

I saw him in concert twice and almost forgot I was married. ❤❤❤❤❤
😂😂😂 easy to believe
Lol😂
That would exactly be my reaction also. 😂😂😂😂❤
When the music starts Elvis turns from an introvert to an extrovert. By the way, the vest Elvis is wearing was a gift from Natalie Wood.

Elvis was a fine looking man ✅️
Great to see you doing more Elvis - some you might want to check is Hurt, Loving You, You'll Never Walk Alone, and all the Ed Sullivan shows that Elvis was on.
YES! HURT IS GREAT!
Thank you for such a great reaction. Haters are just wrong. Listen to whatever brings you joy.
Always!
Oh this takes me back 11 years old 1957 he started Off with don't be cruel the third song was Peace in the valley
You can listen to any one you want.. any body that tells you something like that have a problem.. I grew up with Elvis and I only like 3 of his songs.. my best friend goes nuts for him 🥰
I love Elvis he's special a one of a kind.
Bill Black died three years before the 1968 Special.
The Jordaniers were a gospel group IF my memory serves. My 81 year old brain isn’t always right. I remember I was surprised when they were Elvis’s backup singers!
Martin thank you i will do my research. 81 years old i will say i hope to be as sharp as you Martin🙏🙏🙏
As always a great reaction from you l love to hear men compliment Elvis on the fact how much he had going for him one of a kind the Goat thank you 🎉
He was told not to move about and they only filmed him from the waist up for a time and he had a hard time trying not to dance,he had to endure a lot of hate from so called Christian people not realising how religious he was, listen to his gospel songs please, love from the UK
Fantastic, you tube is full of black guys, and girls, reacting to Elvis, and they all love him, so just ignore the very ignorant haters, they are just very jealous ❤
Hilariously funny reaction.😂😂😂 More Elvis.🙏
Elvis hung around and affected our lives for so long. So many years. He was just part of the family. We worried about him, we wished him everything and we were there when he was down, too.
Man! I really LOVE yours shirt!!!!
I love my shirt as well and i made 4 more for myself and i wear then all day lol

****** CLASSiC Among Classics!
CV what were the three words?😊
Stop kidding yourself ; You have the charm and the charisma (period; full stop). If you have it now, you had it back then! 👍❤
This was so much fun watching this reaction.
Keep doing you🎉
Enjoying your Elvis Reactions. Been a fan for almost sixty years. Nothing going to change that. Sorry you are having problems with haters. Best thing to do is either ignore them or feel sorry for them … or both.
You should watch some of his concert clips. He had a great sense of humor
CVTECK1 dude, don't cut yourself down, it's what's in your Heart. you Cool man!!
Funny reaction 😂. You should check out a documentary from 2005 called Elvis the early years. It’s long but has lots of great information. Sorry about all of the haters. A lot of people still believe that Elvis was a racist but they never bothered to check the facts.
You're so right where is the prove. RIP ELVIS THE G.O.A.T. ⚡ TCB TLC ❤🙏
Love Elvis! Love your shirt!
1957,i was 14 years and so in love with him. Thats how they sang they do it this way to make it better
Fabulous Elvis journey you are on!! React to Long Black Limousine, Make the World Go Away
💙❤💯🙏
Thank You. Good job. 🎸🎶
Elvis and his charisma ♥️🙏💋💋💋💋💋🌹
Great reaction. He was only allowed to be filmed from the waist up as his moves were considered vulgar.
Dang! I missed your live! I have my notifications on too! I love it when you do Elvis!
The song. I Can Dream was written for him because he wanted to make a tribute to MLK
Great review CV TECH1 ! you’re the best !
100% AGREE❤
Never been anyone close to Elvis.
❤👑👑👑👑👑❤️
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I think his band w as called "The Jordanaires". He first heard them in 1954.
Early on in his career he sang with backing vocals from the Jordanaires.
Check out a clip of M. Ali singing this at an Elvis memorial
❤❤❤❤👌 Thanks for sharing ❤🙏
He would still love you
Thanks for talking about Ed
He had the guys.
TCB 1935
great job
In the beginning, there was the Jordanaires quartet.
Elvis was born around brown people. Elvis loved all people
Elvis got all the cheat codes 😁
Love your words....
Elvis was shy.
He grew up in extreme poverty. Started singing gospel with his church!
His is the beginning of his career. Its his band
***The JORDANAIRES, Back Up.
He was “a shy humble country boy”.
These was the back up singers he started with.
Elvis had an outstanding GORGEOUS BODY BUILD/PHYSICAL SHAPE!!!!!! ❤❤❤
