I’m guessing the reason this comment has this many upvotes is because people don’t actually care to hear why a class is good, they just want a yes of no.
I've played World of Warcraft since the end of tbc and up until a month ago have never tried shadow priest, I am absolutely in love with it. We may not top charts but knowing I'm doing more than just damage like a mage does makes me feel good.
Mages do nothing for their party ? More intellect, massive croud controlls, provide food/water and on top of that the best aoe damage on the game. I dont even wanna talk about some bosses u have to tank or spell steal as mage so that they are even possible. Every single class has it benefits for a party but yea, shadow priests are awesome
I think you got him wrong. He was just saying that he is happy about the benefit that a shadowpriest could bring as a support class to his party members more than just being a pure DPS, such as a mage.
Great video! Been playing SPriest in Classic and on Endless and loving it - super exited for (hopefully) TBC Classic to keep playing my SPriest as a desired contributor in PVE. One super minor thing to note: Abolish Disease is a Holy Spell so you have to leave Shadow Form to cast. Still a nice to have thing, but realistically not something you'll be able to use while doing DPS in PvE. Well, at least not while DPSing on the same fight since Moving in and out of Shadow form will drain your mana too much.
This is not a Spriest's job but a Hpriest's to use abolish disease. The tasks of a Spriest would be to mainly regenerating mana to your party, use Mind Control or Mass Dispel during the raid.
Night elf priests get starshards which is a instant cast dot that does about as much as your vampiric touch or SW pain, and it has either no or a very minimal cost and is on a fairly short cd meaning NE's get a their own extra dot to add in shadowform.

Best races for a PvE Shadow Priest in TBC in my opinion: Troll for the Horde with Berserking racial. With Shadow Word : Death included in your DPS rotation, it increases your haste by 30% for 10 sec. So the faster your DPS is, the more you will regenerate mana for your party. Draenei for the Alliance with Symbole of Hope, a CD which provide mana certain amount of mana every 5 sec to your party over a duration of 15 sec and Heroic Presence racial. Heroic Presence provides a bonus of 1% of spell (equivalent of 12,6 spell hit rating), which makes you reach your spell hit cap easier and allows you to place an additional point in Mental Agility from Discipline tree. Note that you would already have that 1%, since Heroic Presence benefit also the rest of the party and could come from a shaman.

TBC I was almost always raid high dps. Grul, Mag, Kara, SSC, the The troll and Blelf place ones. any fight I didn't have to run around like crazy, raid highest by a large margin and I always got put in the main healer group or the tank group (if we ran pali's). the trick to stacking shadow weaving also was using different rank spells. Stack Hit to raid cap and then just crazy damage I had somewhere north of 1300 spell power.
Thoughts on troll vs undead for spriest dps? Trolls get berserking, shadowguard and touch of weakness, while undead get devouring plague. I'm leaning towards undead.
I disagree with your statement that spriest wont have place in world first runs. Everyone will stack warlocks and hunters just like they do with warrs now. And if you stack locks then spriest is must.
Hunters were not that good in pvp after the nerfs and guarantee we start at a later patch after they got brought into line. This time around everyone knows how to play vs a TBC huntards burst. Survive the burst and its gg. Nobody really wants to play a 45 min mana drain game as well. I think people are overestimating how many hunters there will be in tbc ESPECIALLY after the ass raping they got in classic with the spell batching and god awful leeway mechanic.
