Really like the video, glad to see motorcycle conversion kits that could salvage a few old but trues a new life. I have been threatening to do an Electric mini bike and have something, kinda sorts mini bike with a 1000 watt direct drive system. that ride looked fun, I could see the difference from the Suron videos I have seen. they are much light and are springing around alot, and the way your ride dug it and owned the trail, real sure footed. Can't wait for marketing of the system, But will it only be for one type of bike or more universal for different makes and models?

Though, a good example, even if you own some land, but have nearby neighbors, they can complain about the loud sounds from an ICE dirt bikes and prevent you from riding on your private land (this happened to my brother). Also, some off-road vehicle parks will not let you ride a closed course (race) ICE bike on them, etc. In last weekend's SX race, many people left before the main events because of the build-up of gas fumes in the stadium. It was making hard for some to breath and causing their eyes to hurt.

The price most likely won't be going down for a long time as they have to recoup their costs which are probably fairly high right now.

This has literally (not an expression) been a dream of mine since the mid 80s. As a kid who grew-up on horse farms in awesome offroad country, I rode trails for years and years on horses, ski-doos and of course, dirtbikes. I always thought it would be awesome to be as quiet as on a horse on a smooth, tight bike that makes no squeaks, rattles etc.... during moderate-sporty trail riding. One of these with belt drive would be even quieter (but I don't know about a belt off-road). The reason? Ever ride a horse on a peaceful, long hack on a quiet trail and a pack of two-strokes comes screaming-up to you?

The XEMX1 is the most raceable E-Moto in the off-road world. You may have seen all the hype for the Stark Varg but have you ever seen one?, or has it ever finished a race? The XEMX1 has.
It is currently winning in Florida Hare Scrambles and was 39th OA out of 595 Amateur riders on Sat. TKO Tennessee Knock Out Hard Enduro and the only E-Moto to finish that race.
Its is Kinda easy to put an electric motor in a bike frame and have it go down the road. It not easy to make it raceable against the current well refined generation of off-road ICE bikes.
XEMX is developing not only a great race bike but a great Electric race bike. Not because of global needs but because there are some new capabilities that a E-Moto can do that an ICE can’t. The current push on Electric vehicles is also driving more battery and programmers development that XEMX is taking advantage of.
It may not be for everyone but it is interesting to see how far the development can go.

Modern 450s are way overpowered for the average rider. Eli Tomac wishes the manufacturers would start making a 350F so it would be fun again. Josh Hill said the same thing. They are just on for the ride and trying to stay on the bike. They also say supercross tracks are just not big enough for modern 450s and that a 350 class would make it easier to jump for 250 riders rather than moving up to 450s. There would be fewer injuries and deaths too. When riding trails all my buddies are out of control on 450s and can't keep up with my 250 because they are fighting to stay on.

When were done for a day of trail riding we usually cover about 40/50 miles, whether its long open fast powerline trails to single-track, in the middle of the woods. At least with the gas bike you will know based on how much fuel you have how much firther you can go.. And if you did run out gas, someone could have some gas with them or worst case someone could go get gas. But either way if you run out of battery, and you dont have another one you're going to be getting towed back which is never fun in bad terrain..

Very nice video review and super interesting product. However, some important stats are absent: 1) what was the before and after weight of the bike conversion? and 2) how many minutes were you able to ride like that on the 4.3kWh battery? Also interesting would be how far were you able to ride at a moderate pace on logging roads? Without that kind of basic data, it kind of feels like you are lying by omission.

After testing for codes to see fault for the magnets on their sensors. He mentions a possible cap bank....can you wire your throttle through another controller to a cdi that sees your voltage total, power (throttle usage 1-100%,) and has a better performance than another battery that needs upgraded cooling?
Plus. When the guy without his helmet on says clutch. What did he mean? To slow down and switch to reverse when in a forward acceleration?

    • @christopherw.9841

Power can be put through controller to sense the unused power and resent it to braking with smart throttle. Saves brakes (pads rotors) and uses less cooling and capacitor for long term maintenance. Winds a motor to recharge battery with unused power from smart throttle. Uses unused power to recharge. Uses smart throttle mapping on track mode for best efficiency and saves making a huge cap bank to keep your thighs warm

wondering if you will ride and compare the new Apollo RFN or the Admitjet electric Motor cycles - a lot of press about these over the past 18 months.
Whilst I like the idea of rebirthing a CR250, YZ250 or RM250 as they are a great full size bike Chassis - I can see the kit from XE4 being very expensive.
Batteries currenly the most exy part then the controllers as I understand.
Motors are already pretty competitive out of China.
Be interested in the price of their Kit however when you can buy a Apollo RFN for USD$4 K I think EX4 will be struggling to compete IMO
