Mesha Stele: The Second 'House of David' Inscription

- In 1993, the biblical archaeology world was rocked with the discovery of the Tel Dan inscription, which mentions the 'house of David' - proving that King David existed and that he was the start of a ruling dynasty of kings. However, a year prior, a new reading of the Mesha stele discovered a century earlier claimed to find the same phrase, “House of David.” This second "House of David' inscription was far more difficult to decipher, leading many to dismiss that it mentioned anything about the famed king from Jerusalem.
Now, with the help of modern technology, Prof. Michael Langlois and colleagues have been able to present evidence confirming the “House of David” reading. On today’s program, Prof Langlois joins host Brent Nagtegaal to discuss the Mesha Stele along with current scholarship’s unscientific reluctance to accept the historicity of King David.

I have my own suspicions but, I'm wondering WHY they don't want the inscription to read "David"?
Next to Christ, David is the second person in Scripture re the amount of text recording their life. A great deal of David's life and writings prophetically point to Christ and the New Covenant.

The rampant anti Israel bias in archaeology is truly disgraceful. Such quacademics bring the entire field into disrepute.
Anything dealing in Isreal is constantly meet with bias. Always has been and always will. Our God has already told us that. If God chooses something the devil is right there to try and destroy it. Good Bless Israel and his children, everywhere!

It is dissapointing to know, in the past archeologist broke the stele, so they can get a part of the inscription.
It was broken by greedy, ignorant natives. Archeologists actually rescued the fragments.
The archeologist didn't break it. The bedouins broke it because there wasn't one owner they all wanted a piece to sell.

Good question ... the Mesha Stele seems to use the term for house a number of times without the yod, simply as בת rather than בית.
There was no yad. Hay, bat-thau. Dalat-uau-dalat. “Ha’Bath Daud”. The House of Daud. His name is Daud. Or really, Malak Daud (King Daud). Seek the most ancient paleo-hebrew. Not the modern.

His name was Daud. Not david. I can read ancient paleo-hebrew characters. It’s actually called Abryth. Or Lashun Rashyth. The man is explaining using modern functions & a perverse “hebrew”. Hay, which is the letter H-A at the beginning of a word, & turns into A-H in the middle or at the end of a word, means “the”. The letter that looks like a “G” is actually a B. It’s called a Bat/Bath. The “X” is the thau. Which makes it T-H. The triangles are both the letter Dalat or “D”. The Y is actually a “U”. Pronounced ooo. It’s not a waw or vav. Those letters didn’t exist until centuries later. The letter is called uau. The letters put together are pronounced with an “a” in between certain letters. House of David sounds like a village leader not a grand city. Sure there was only one guy named "David" in the whole land. We know nobody ever uses the same name twice. Lol

There are two different timelines you are trying to mesh together here, Biblical History and HISTORY. As has been discovered many times before, the two are clearly not the same. Biblical History is a tale of wishful thinking trying to become HISTORICAL fact(s).
