    This is the best flan recipe by far. Fwi the what really makes the difference here is the lime zest. You can try it how ever you want but don't leave the zest out. Also don't leave in the oven for too long; if it starts getting too dark get it out.

    I grew up eating flan at a Mexican restaurant in my town. It closed about 10 years ago and I’ve never been able to find flan like they had. I made this last night and it was PERFECT! It was exactly what I’d been hoping to find! This flan is delicious and by far the best recipe out there!! THANK YOU!!!

    Made it! It looked simple enough! Hopefully it'll turn out well...
    Update: I had to cook it for 1 hour, 45 minutes was not enough for me. Ended up a bit too sweet for my taste. The zest and salt curbed the sweetness a bit but still a tad too sweet. Might consider cutting the condensed milk into half next time. And strain the mixture to make sure the texture becomes smoother.
    Keep in mind, that this comes from someone who don't eat a lot of sweets, and prefers salty and spicy dishes. I gave some to my little cousins and siblings and they said it was delicious. My American housemate also said it was good. Perhaps people who like sweet things a lot may find this delicious.

      There's no such thing as original recipe. People make it their own by adding or replacing ingredients as they see fit. I make it for my family and I don't use vanilla but sometimes I add lemon zest, others I add coconut flakes and some others I add a quarter spoon of rum. You're going to tell me I can't do that because it's not the original recipe? Either way, people so love my flan that I've been offered money for my recipe but I won't budge!

    I made this for my husband yesterday minus the zest and it came out bomb. I used a smaller bowl than you and I had to cook it for 75 mins.

    Lime zest cuts the fresh smell of the eggs. I use orange extract works great too. I also put a dash of nutmeg and ginger. Freshly grated

    Quick note: mine took about 2 hours to cook, once it was set in the refrigerator and it was all ready it turned out perfect😍

    it looks nice and easy but i would strain it after mixing every thing together so that the lemon zest particles would be taken out.

    this look ingredible. can't wait to try it. but i did notice the error in the video. says to add 2 eggs while there were in fact 3 added. i am glad the recipe below corrected itself. i am most happy about the caramel running over the sides after it is turned out.

    If the texture is soft do I need to cook more? Add less milk (I think I added a little more to this recipe) or add another egg? The taste can be compared with. the best I've ever had.

      Cook more and put it in the fridge for an hour before you cut it

    So I thought I had all the ingredients for this, but turns out I bought dulche de leche instead of sweetened condensed milk. I thought it was a cool labeling thing. Fingers crossed that it works as birthday is today and I made it with dulce de leche

    I’ve tried making flan many times but never could get the sugar caramel right, today I threw it together like I didn’t care and it turned out perfect, something tells me different sugars react differently with Domino sugar it was brown right away but with other sugars it took a while to get some color in it
