About Me
My name is Brandon Herrera. I'm the owner and operator of The AK Guy Inc, a 07 Firearm Manufacturer based out of Fayetteville, NC. I also co-own Stark Media Group, and designed the rifle known as the AK-50.
I've started to dedicate this UA-cam channel above all to have fun, but also as a way to document my entrepreneurial journey for the next few years as I try to grow my companies. Hopefully, people can learn from my example, successes, and failures.
Either way, I'm having a lot of fun with it so far, and I hope it's just as fun to follow along!

One reason we "skeletonize" 3D printed parts is that it can take much less time to print and yet have similar strength. Very worthwhile thing to do, especially if you're making like 30-40 iterations.
Yes, but we're talking about explosive forces here. That 1 might get away with the mag well, but in most cases those parts will most likely need to be solid to withstand and contain the blast.
Topological optimalisation sucks in 3D printing. Just overdesign it and FOS time 5 the damn thing. You'll be fine even with PLA.
Still funny when he said it was so god damn fucking heavy
Save filament
@@trashman835 I'm no gunsmith or 3D-printer expert, but I am a builder of sorts.
Skimping on quality materials and/or gathering it from old or patchwork stock is usually a bad idea, as is minimizing the redundant structure available to handle stress. This is especially true when the resulting work has to endure sudden shocks regularly. It shouldn't be done unless truly necessary, given that other 3D-printing factors might make the gun a bit delicate anyway.
They should just *not build the damned thing* until they can do it the right way.
The fact that that dude called it the Skeet Cannon and not the "Glock and Balls" is the biggest crime against humanity

Kinda interesting to think that the man who created the AK lived almost long enough to see advancements in technology so great, his legendary weaponry could be made almost (if not ENTIRELY) of plastic, and in the comfort of your own home no less.
Until someone builds a kalashnicock then he rolls over
A tip to everyone who tries 3D printing such things like gun parts etc.. I would rather advise against PLA and PLA +, of course it works in a pinch, but there are far more stable and temperature-resistant filaments available which is used in mechanical engineering and can also be used with normal 3D printers. Use the normal PLA for practice and then use something like:
"Nylon CF15 Carbon"
- High strength
- High thermal resistance
- High chemical resistance
- Impact resistant
PLA+ is the standard for low price, strength and printability above basic PLA, when you move up to nylon or carbon fiber filaments you need more than just a printer and time to calibrate your printer.
@@mbarricelliwv I don't think you need an extra new printer for this, but you might have to replace / upgrade the heating head and the nozzle and as you said - a new calibration too.
@@net-twin-de not a new printer, you need MORE than a printer, like a filament dryer and enclosure for the printer
@@mbarricelliwv It always depends on which printer you work with or which one you bought. There are very well printers with which you can use different types of filament. But yes, you're right, an enclosure would certainly make sense - I assumed that most of them have probably already bought one, I mean who wants to constantly smell the stench or hear the annoying fan noise. So if you work without an enclosure, I advise you to use one too.
Almost all types of filament are susceptible to moisture. But that doesn't mean that you have to buy a filament dryer right away.
Arguably the easiest and most common way to dry your filament is to place it in the oven. Set the temperature just below the glass transition temperature of the plastic and let it sit in the oven for 4-6 hours to allow the moisture to escape. The longer you leave it in, the drier it gets.
PLA: ~40-45°C
ABS: ~80°C
Nylon: ~80°C
Every gun I have printed is in PLA+, if you know what you are doing, you will NOT have problems with quality
