When I think of Miss Marple, I think of Joan Hickson AND Margaret Rutherford. Different interpretations, but equally brilliant results. Also, Joan Hickson looked exactly like my grandmother, so it's always a little bitter-sweet rewatching her as Miss Marple.
I grew up loving Agatha Christie. Joan Hickson is my favorite. I love Margaret Rutherford, too. I have been watching these enjoyable episodes countless times. Thank you.
Mine too. I read all the stories long before I saw her portrayed on screen. Geraldine was most like I imagined Miss Marple to be. Agatha said Jane had a twinkle in her eye with young people...I think Geraldine had that. David Suchet is definitely Hercule Poirot..😊
Hickson is great but I love McEwan's sense of humor and playfulness in the part. I also recommend her in Mapp and Lucia. A wonderful series which might be described as "Mean Girls, 1920's English country society version."
I preferred Geraldine McEwen and Joan Hickson as Miss Marple. Geraldine for her warmer, more fun version and Joan for her intelligent and coldly rational character.
Too witchy. Julia McKenzie was too mumsy. Rutherford was too farcical- delicious, but wrong. Hickson was pitch-perfect: quiet, unobtrusive, precise, able to project irresistible moral authority mixed with compassion. Agatha saw those qualities. It was just a matter of waiting till JH was the right age.

I have not been interested in watching Joan Hickson's "Miss Marple," but after watching this, I realize I should watch give her a look.
I like them all. But Joan is my favorite.
Joan Hickson is Jane Marple. RIP. Such an underrated actress. Greetings from Paris🎉😊
Margaret Rutherford is my favourite ❤
Really liked Joan Hickson but just loved Geraldine McEwan. She just epitomises Agatha Christie’s character to me. Thank you so much 🙏🙏👵🇦🇺
This is a crazy amount of effort... Much appreciated.. Love your videos
Thank you! So reassuring to read this!
I have watched them all over and over and over again. They all are brilliant.
I hope one day Emalda Staunton will play miss marple.
All of them are brilliant in their own way❤❤❤
Margaret Rutherford.Hands down
They have all brought their own interpretation of Ms Marple's character. I enjoyed all of them.
My favourite was Geraldine McEwan. I don't know why but I loved her the best.

McEwan was too unsympathetic for that role imo but I agree about David Suchet.
Mine too❤❤❤
Joan Hickson for me.
I loved Margaret Rutherford. Watched the movies in german in my childhood and the voice cover was perfect, too.
To me, as Miss Marple, she was an elephant in a china shop with a voice to match, I was much relieved when Joan Hickson played Miss Marple.
I love them all. Great actresses
After seeing all of the Margaret Rutherford Miss Marple movies when growing up I can't see anyone else playing Miss Marple.
Geraldine McEwan is my husband and my favorite. She is just sooo cute with twinkly eyes and such nice manners
Hickson is great but I love McEwan's sense of humor and playfulness in the part. I also recommend her in Mapp and Lucia. A wonderful series which might be described as "Mean Girls, 1920's English country society version."
Thanks I liked them all.👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🌹
Awesome! Thank you!
Wish I could understand Marina. I love Joan Hickson, and the others too.
I preferred Geraldine McEwen and Joan Hickson as Miss Marple. Geraldine for her warmer, more fun version and Joan for her intelligent and coldly rational character.
Margaret Rutherford every time the best and for me the only one!! fantastic lady much missed
Damn right.
For me the best miss marple actresses are margaret rutherford and julia mckenzie
joan hickson IS miss marple. i could not stand geraldine mcewan’s interpretation. unwatchable, much too “precious” and twee.
Too witchy. Julia McKenzie was too mumsy. Rutherford was too farcical- delicious, but wrong.
