    Despite all the inherent limitations of recordings played over UA-cam you've still managed to capture both what a masterpiece this track is and how great your system sounds. Congrats🍻🎶

    Killer system Bob. Music selection is perfect. Thanks for sharing.

    The system is sounding great, Bob, even through the recording and UA-cam compression. The ultimate test for any home playback system is a good recording of piano and/or large orchestra. I would love to hear such a demonstration.

      1st) thank you! 2nd) the speakers are Alsyvox “Botticelli X”, from Spain.

    Hm.. These are for acoustically treated rooms I think. Cause I hear that many first order reflections come at different times because of different distances from a driver to the most reflective surface in the room.

    Wish I could hear some classical orchestral music on this.

    • @Rhapsody-Out-West

      The source here the Vyger Atlantis turntable and Etsuro cartridge. My classical vinyl collection is very, very tiny so I’d have to record digital local or streamed. It will sound good my digital is Taiko Extreme server and dCS Rossini DAC, but the vinyl rig is a level up for sure.
      I’ll get round to adding some classical, just not my preferred genre. That is not to say there are not classical pieces I greatly enjoy and finding the premier recordings and performances is something true classical aficionados are better at than myself.

  • @adec1972
    @adec1972 5 місяців тому

    It’s a nice room for sure!! but sorry and no offense intended, to be honest, to me it sounds very thin compared to what I would expect it to sound listening here to the original pressing on my LP12/Selekt DSM System for a fraction of the price of the system in use in the video. Maybe it’s just the recording or just me… 🤷🏼‍♂️ hope it sounds better listening to it in the room.

    • @Rhapsody-Out-West

      The original pressing is good, the MCA “audiophile” label pressing was better. I just got my UHQR version and have yet to compare. As to the system, I assure you it has all the “knock you back in your chair” sound most would ever want, in spades. That said, your taste is your own and you might enjoy your own system better. If you have a rig you’re happy with that is the goal.

      @leetronix 5 місяців тому

      I'm new to this channel here. I agree, I found the sound a lot on the bright side with a tonal flatish sound, even though it's crisp and full but tonally too rich for me.
      Maybe it is the pressing, etc, but this does not distract from a marvellous setup and a well thought out system rig.

      @bobvin99 That would be great and would kindly take you up on your kind invitation 👍 Sound is absolutely a personal enjoyment and should never be distracted from this for anyone. It can sound sometimes a little like scolding a person when they describe an opinion and I get that but in this case it was never intended that way, it was just how my ears perceived it which also can be put down to a lot reasons.
      By the way, the detailing coming from your speakers is fantastic 👌

    Is this the just released UHQR version?

    • @Rhapsody-Out-West
      @Rhapsody-Out-West  4 місяці тому +1

      no, this is the 1/2 speed mastered MCA “Audiophile” pressing. I have the new UHQR and it isn’t significantly better, before the new pressing the 1/2 speed mastered was the ultimate copy. I’m happy I have both now. If you have a pivoted arm the 45 will probably have more benefit my arm is linear tracking so no inner groove distortion anyway. I was lucky to find a sealed MCA copy about 10 years ago.

    For the money people spend on these high-end systems it amazes me...? Yes, it looks swell but for all the money it could be made by MATTEL! I've noticed you can spend a 1/10 of the price and you can get just as good sound maybe not the artsy, fartsy, appearance but just as good SOUND. For me, that's what it's all about.. People are so foolish over appearances..?? I kinda like the look of raw heavy duty professional sound equipment like a DJ would have in my home.. Besides the mixing boards, I'm not into mixing boards.. I'll use my computer thank you..

      whichever path you choose - it is you doing the listening. a warm welcoming quiet and peaceful environment works for me. Big $$ systems are not essential for musical enjoyment but can enhance the sense of realism. some people like Ferraris, some are happy with a Camry, the only problem is when someone else starts judging

    Nice room and system, congrats Bob. How would you rate the synergy between Pilium and Alsyvox? And did you audition any other amps before choosing Pilium? Cheers.

    • @Rhapsody-Out-West
      @Rhapsody-Out-West  5 місяців тому +4

      I am a brand ambassador for Pilium, Alsyvox, Diesis, Lorenzo, Heretic, and Triode Labs (among others). I am affiliated with Rhapsody.Audio in NYC. I’ve heard Alsyvox on tube amps (VAC) and other SS amps. Daniele Coen, the Alsyvox designer, designs using a 30w tube amp but will say more power gives the speaker more heft and gravitas. Pilium is a greek brand that is becoming more well known for its amazing neutrality and particularly “liquid” sound… and it handles any speaker unflinchingly. Magico uses Pilium to demo the M9s, and it is surprisingly great even with high efficiency speakers like Heretic or Diesis.

    • @melbguy1
      @melbguy1 5 місяців тому

      @@Rhapsody-Out-West Interesting. I was thinking that Robera Koda Takumi amps could work well with planar magnetic speakers like Alsyvox as that their mono's are notably tube-like, neutral and fast. I think flagship Nagra and Soulnote amps could work well also. My only reserveration with Pilium is that its owner isn't an audio engineer. His background was designing exercise equipment like treadmills.

    • @Rhapsody-Out-West
      @Rhapsody-Out-West  5 місяців тому +1

      @@melbguy1 You are correct Kosantinos did at one time design exercise equipment which gave him knowledge necessary for building things - materials sourcing, design, assembly, production. Whenever he came to audio design he clearly is a master of his craft the results speak for themselves. Many people transition from one career to another is no big thing.

    • @melbguy1
      @melbguy1 5 місяців тому

      @@Rhapsody-Out-West It is an unusual transition, one thing having nothing to do with the other (other than the ability to run a business as you described). That said, I'd agree that Magico wouldn't demo their M9's with any gear they felt didn't measure up...even factoring in normal industry cross-polinating relationships. There are lot of amps which would potentially have good synergy with planars like Alsyvox, GTAW, Clarisys Audio etc, incl: flagship Nagra, Vitus, Pass Labs, Robert Koda Takumi and Soulnote to name a few. Though i'd have to add Pilium to my audition list for sure. I heard the Tintorettos' at the recent Australian Hifi Show paired with Aries Cerat amps and dac, and a Pink Faun streamer & thought they sounded natural, dynamic and transparent - and did all the things i'd expect fast dipole-radiating planar magnetic speakers to do. They showed their potential given the less than ideal show conditions. Though i'd like to see Alsyvox replace the scratch-magnet smoky acrylic frames with a superior material like carbon fibre, or carbon/composite at some point.

      @@melbguy1 I had a pair of Audio Research Ref 160 monos before I got Pilium - I’d love to try those with the Alsyvox. I know VAC sounds good too.
