Oh fk yeah Big D i traded mine away back in the day bc I never thought the good ole days would end but time has given me the wisdom to buy these now and never let them go again.
I actually bought the drive master yesterday. Plugged it my Marshall dsl 5c amp in. There was it. Being able to tweak between "guv'nor" like tones up to hard rock lands with almost no limits. That was the gem for me. I damn love your work Dagan. Keep it up man. Cheers from Belgium 🤘🤘
A bunch of OD's & Distortions these days are based off these little bad lads! It's awesome to see the OG's back - And they're a bunch cheaper than buying a vintage one!
I appreciate your enthusiasm and for taking the trouble to respond. There's no doubting the pedigree and you're right in pointing out the appeal might be to those considering forking out for the originals. I think the point stands that the playing field is ramjammed with competitors.
The Drivemaster and Guv'nor seem almost identical, if not completely identical. You may be right about there being a bit more breakup or gain in the low end of the pedal. I bought a Guv'nor and Shredmaster. May add the Drivemaster and Bluesbreaker at some point.
For $250 ? Idk . Pedal Pawn only paid $140 for his . plus Andertons said they thought the price point was going to be around $150-$170 . Then to see $250! F**K THAT ! lol . I own an OG Guv . I paid $200 and that's because they USED to be rare .
Man, hearing those Nuno chords at the end made it worth the entire viewing - like a decadent dessert after a fine meal. You did that just for me, didn’t you?! 🤘🏻
I owned an original bluesbreaker and governor back in the early eighties but I guess I didn't know how to dial them in, so I sold them. Most of my 50-plus playing years I've always been mainly a guitar straight into the amp except for the occasional tube screamer or my current mojomojo pedal which works great for me.
Like a kid in a candyshop.. i had the marshall bluesbreaker 2 pedal and it was nothing like the original BB...and now after seeing this want to buy a drivemaster its awesome 🤟😆🤟
The pedal does some breakup into a 100% clean amp, you just have to turn it up most the way on gain/volume. I run mine into a Ibanez TSA15 (6v6) and it sounds awesome, pairs well with a Klon type pedal too (or honestly any OD I've tried it with).
wich of these ... would make "me" come nearly the Guns N Roses Slash "sound" ?!!! I think all of them sounds AMAZING and Powerful !!!!! i'm Amazed !!! Great Rock n Roll play !!!!
I love the Gov'ner, but does it make any sense to play it over a Marshall amp??? Many M. amps already have a boost pedal and you can always turn the gain up... I use mine to run over a fender Bassman, to turn it into a versatile amp for our blues/rock cover band.
Awesome Review Dagan. Love your work.. Recently discovered your channel... your reveiw on the Epiphone "inspired by Gibson" '58 Flying V convinced me to buy one... so thanks for that. Just wondering what model is the Marshall amp you're playing in this video?
I've got the original Bluesbreaker, it's fantastic (cranked). I'm happy they released these again, just wish they were $149 instead of $249 so I could get more of them O:-)
Its named "The Guv'nor" not because of Jim, but because someone heard the pedal being played in prototype and exclaimed "What's that? THAT'S THE GUV'NOR!!!"
Not gonna lie, I thought this dude was too much at first, but he just loves guitars and rock guitar as much as me…..you fucking rule Degan. Do you have a “1” on your left thumb for syn? 😮
I got a govner in high school and thought it blew cause it didn’t sound like And Justice for All. Traded it for a super American metal dod. Wish I still had both
Paid £50 for an original Guv'nor when them were released, sold it for £100 and watched the prices go through the roof over the years......£179 for the Vintage Reissues? Not terrible.
Here in the US they are $250 ..... I'll pass LOL . I own a OG Guv . It would have been nice to have a back up . I'd rather buy a Strymon pedal of sorts .
@@PMTVUKWell why not show the Blackstar in the vid and make it more obvious? Anyway the Blackstar is a valve amp too so I stand by my original comment. You'll get a better tone cranking the amp. Now, if this was a Fender amp or anything that can't do the high gain valve amp tone, then yeah in that scenario, these pedals would be great. In front the Marshall, and to a lesser extent, the Blackstar? Pointless.
@@GuitarGeordie A JCM800 needs to be stupid loud to sound good, plus plenty of Marshall’s either have no master volume, single channel or shares EQ between channels, so not always ideal to set the amp dirty if you want variety. Not to mention the weird effects loops on amps back in the 90’s, if they had them! Plus plenty of players borrow amps when playing gigs and therefore get their tones from pedals. It’s hugely common for guitarists in the UK to use pedals into Marshall’s set clean because they are cheap here. Plus it’s a good idea for a UK store to be more inkeeping with the average British musician than US ones.
@@3rdStoreyChemist Still not convinced. These 'amp in a box' pedals are great into clean amps, but something like an SD1 would be better to boost the dirty channel of a Marshall. You don't buy a Marshall to run it clean.
@@GuitarGeordie You missed my point, people do run them into clean channels. Legends like Gary Moore actually used a Guv’nor into the clean channel on a Soldano. If it’s good enough for him... But people have had a lot of success using these as boosts, the Bluesbreaker is a classic for that exact use these day and if you play with the EQ in the others, you can get something useful as well. The Shredmaster is the one that mostly requires a clean, bright amp.
Or you could add another €250 and buy a DSL20h and get all the tones of these 4 pedals plus an actual amplifier to boot. How does marshall pretend to sell this to younger buyers with no nostalgia hype for these items? A €250 price tag is not the way for sure.
We LOVE these new Marshall Vintage Reissue Pedals! 🔥 What do you think?!
They sound great, but I'd rather the smaller gold ones for looks and size.
@Gary No cheap labour in Milton Keynes these days. We've gone up in the world lol :P
bro of course if you run the pedals through a marshall it will sound like a marshall 🤣
@@carminegraves take it you didn't actually watch the video? He specifically says in the first couple of minutes that he's not using a Marshall amp.
@@DruEllz bro you can see it
When Dagan loves something it’s truly a joy to behold. Great video. Fabulous tones.
I still have my original Guvnor bought in '89. Used for years with Marshall 50 head. Brilliant

Definitely worth getting this tone back in your life!!🤘

I was blown away by the tones, the blues-breaker sounds amazing.
They all sound so good I guess I’ll have to 1 of each
Me too 😂🤘
If only I could afford it, to go next to my rat, tube screamer, ds2, not sure I need another drive pedal
We agree 😉

Fantastic, brilliant playing.
As a beginner, you have just gone through every tone I want to be able to play pretty much. Thanks. 🤟
Glad to help!🤘
It's stupid how good it sounds... It's marvelous. Great vid. Best wishes to all of you ❤
Super stuff lad! Thanks for the demo.. i loved the governor..& your great playing...
It's such an awesome pedal! 🤘
Sick! I remember when these came out the first time. Get yourself a Fender amp, and one of these pedals = Fender clean & Marshall crunch.
I am so thankful to have stumbled on this channel recently, been binge watching lately, love your enthusiasm, keep it up please
Welcome aboard! 🤘
MY GOD... the Guvnor does everything
Loved the originals. These are awesome.
Hell yeah, Aljon! 🤘

I think there's a real hole in the market for overdrive and distortion pedals. Glad they spotted it.

The Shredmaster is the same pedal as the Guvnor, although it's missing the Guvonr's fx loop.

Gary Moore in a box. I can't believe they're finally back!
Unholy Confessions 🤟That Shredmaster sounds amazing, reminds me of some of the tones my DSL can make.
The question is does the Bluesbreaker pedal get Claptons Beano tone which made the JTM45 famous.
Which one is your favorite after 6 months dagan ?
Happy to say that you are the poster boy of 70's - 80's rock in every way..including the accent. That aside, I am so glad these pedals came back.
