i think its not that he can't hurt them, but that the damage doesn't stick. That could still apply to the robot as well but we'll find out soon enough

@@keyki9832 we tend to forget that Oda actually uses a tiny bit of physics sensibility. That robot is astronomically massive, at that speed it swung that fist, with that much mass, also being a technological wonder (probably some insane material) it’s like a meteor strike.
Like, no matter how broken Luffy may be, I doubt he wouldn’t be fatally wounded if he took a Fujitora meteor. Same concept, just a massive thing hitting very fast.

The Iron giant is sounding a bit more like the Golem of Prague. Where a rabbi brings together a bunch of straw and mud, forms it into a person, inscribes the word "Emet" and it comes to life as a protector

Honestly, I've wanted Bonney on the ship since we _met_ her. I've always thought she jived with the crew, even before finding out she is a kid who needs to be looked out for. Now that we do know that, my hopes have a chance to be real. Let us dream.

How fitting, the Giant that housed the Snail from Vegapunk, that was being used to broadcast the truth's of the world, to the world, is named "Truth".
It’s from the Hebrew golem story. The word “emet” means truth (or life in some versions) and the removal of one letter changes it to “met” which means death. The golem had “emet” inscribed on it and changing that to “met” caused it to stop rampaging. I predict (rather obviously) the golem will be defeated and die (“emet” to “met”).

I think the elders can't be harmed by anything biological, and that's why the robot is needed. I don't know if there's anything supporting that, but could be interesting.

Well, he might have been flashing back to his last moments with Joyboy before everything went south. Joyboy failed, so likely whatever he was planning with Emmet didn't go through, and thus the world had to wait until the present for another to take his place. The fist thing Emmet said was "I'm sorry Joyboy.", reinforcing the idea that something went terribly wrong with their plan.
My favourite part of this chapter was the final panel with luffy screaming, "ROBOTTT!!" With awe.
And of course the giant breaking Warcury's tusk/horn.
Betcha next time we see Warcury in human form, he's missing a tooth.

I think my favorite thematic thread this chapter was Vegapunk praying that the one's affected by [redacted] heard his message and then you see Luffy, as the Sun God, unable to pay attention, too busy to hear the prayers.

This chapter was really fun. Seeing Sanji, Franky and Bonney punching Luffy with haki for throwing the goro-bird away make me laugh so hard.
I've got a feeling Emet is made from the same material as the poneglyphs. This would explain why it never broke and lasted this long.
So many people say let Oda cook until he does one thing they don't see coming. He is in the kitchen preparing a craziest story. Sometimes you gotta crank the heat and char some things to make them taste the best.
Warcury launching him off of the island without a second thought shows that he has no fear of drowning in the sea.

It's an issue with reading weekly people judge arcs before they conclude IMO whole cake island was a pretty solid arc one of my favourites but reading it weekly i can imagine being a bit of a slog. People do this for all manga it's not exclusive to one piece it's just people are quick to judge

Originally i thought the same but it wouldn't make much sense given luffy has interacted with it perfectly fine. I could see it being some sort of fabricated sea prism or some sort of "dawn" alloy that is a sort of fusion between sea prism and something else that gets rid of it's weakening effect on devil fruit users but still allows you to harm them
But the One Piece Wikia already confirmed that the Gorosei are devil fruit users
What i also notice is that Sanji tells Bonney. "These are Captain's orders" when they are supposed to hit him. Does this mean Oda is setting up that she might join the crew eventually?

I was of the idea that Bonnet just had Haki from her years of adventure, but unlocking her Haki by being free and able to truly express her will like you said is way better.

@@Shayne10998 or you know, she just learn it on her adventures. Haki doesn't seem to be a rare power-ups in New World. Many fodders even have been shown to use it throughout dressrosa, WCI, and Wano. Even a kid younger than Bonney is capable to unlocking haki as we've seen with Aisha.

The name of the iron giant is a reference to Jewish golems. They were animated (brought to life) by writing "emet" on them.
Franky is still helping even without haki. The whole point of the attack is the force behind it, not being able to hurt Luffy, and Franky is 100% still exerting force even without haki.
I understood Luffy's statement as confirmation that Franky IS using haki now. He even gave that punch a "stronger name".

The Iron Giant being named Emeth makes some sense with that being the word that brings the Golem to life while if your erase a part of the word makes it meth which means death
One thing I notice, look at warcurys facial expression when he gets punched by the robot, that’s the face of a pig who is currently very scared if I had to say.
I absolutely loved the Kaku and Stussy scene. Kaku getting a taste of his own medicine, but still wanting Stussy to survive. My favorite scene was the combo attack tho, especially Sanji and Franky telling Bonney to punch their captain as hard as she can and her reaction to that. Just shows how crazy the Strawhat crew dynamic is.

Agreed though: I think Joyboy is actually speaking to Emet. Clearly Luffy wasn't the one talking to Law and Momo on Wano underwater and unconscious. There may just be the chance that Joyboy can speak through Luffy as a soul residing in the Fruit. It gives more credence to this idea especially when, back on Dressrosa, Sabo said to Burgess that Ace said (line I can't exactly remember) and after the Dressrosa battle as well when Sabo spoke to Zoro and Zoro noted that Ace said the same thing. Ace spoke through Sabo both times, so it doesn't seem too wild that Joyboy can use the voice of all things to communicate telepathically through Luffy.
Afaik the seraphim don't have implanted memories, so even if S-Bear is a proper person he's his own person, and isn't some sort of substitute for Bonnie's dad. The Seraphim ought to be saved and freed from the command protocol because they're people, but S-Bear is not Kuma regardless of being a clone. A minor part of this arc has been people derivative of other people asserting their individuality.
S -Boa completely denied that take she has ingrained memories or some inherited will maybe something to do with how DNA is called lineage factor in their world and fruits and their wills having one too but just people is part of it.

No, not at all. We know quite much about all of them. Poseidon is shirahoshi and the sea kings, pluton is some kind of ship under wano, not in egghead. And uranus is the flying laser bazooka that vegapunk just talked about for several chapters. The iron giant is "just" part of joyboys crew just like zunisha. It seems the power level was quite a lot higher in the void century than it is today.

I interpretted the joy boy speaking moment as "the voice of all things." That's why it's in present tense, and that's why Luffy gets a reaction panel. Luffy can hear the voice of all things so he can hear joy boy speaking.

@mokaljordan I personally interpreted it as a callback to romance dawn. And with the recent major theme of bringer of dawn, didn't think it would be too far off if the term romance makes a comeback as well. Or it was all a 5head foreshadowing on Oda's part lol

Why would he reveal Bonney having haki with the armament coloring but not do the same thing for Franky though? It just seems weird to do it differently for Franky when his panel is literally next to the panel of Bonney using armament. I'll need to see more to conclude that he has haki.
