thank you so much for this and for making some of the tutorials available for free for those who can’t afford to buy a course! i just started my ue vfx journey, and your playlist on shaders is a life saver, keep up with the good work ✨
Wonderful to hear! Yes, there's a desperate need to get more VFX artists trained to fill the open jobs at the studios, so we wanted to open things up a bit with that free course. Glad you're able to get started on your journey!
Great content, trying to learn realt time VFX in unreal for my own game and it is very hard to find information regarding this topic, thanks for uploading - keep it up!
Great lesson, I find Niagara much less confusing then Cascade. I wasn't aware about how important the texture of the particle is. Up to now I am just using the default square cards for blood and muzzle flash, but would like to experiment more with textures.
I've really enjoyed your videos so far and they inspired me to go back to school and get my Game Art degree. Currently enrolled at Full Sail and hoping to work on VFX someday soon! Just wanted to say thanks for inspiring me to start, cheers! :)
Just a simple question here. I've followed the tutorial using the current version of UE (I believe is 5.4.2) and so far, there were very few interface differences. However I still got in doubt if I did anything wrong or if this is just some kind of not shown configuration for the software but, this kind of "bloom" effect at the particles you created was something missing here when I did it. Like, they were identical in colour and basically everything else, just lacking those highlights. It's just a minor thing, but I was wondering if this was an automatic thing that was changed in more recent versions or if I missed something. Great tutorial btw!
Hi, love your tutorials and principles videos! Follow throughed this one and loved the simplicity of it, but I have an issue of when I try to not make the circles pop in and out, and have a smooth fade, Scale Color opacity seems to not do anything, and it's still very poppy
Great tutorial, with you website, small suggestion when you sign up could you put somewhere like maybe the confirmation email that you have to wait for some other emails to come through. i got really frustrated going in circles on your web page, only to check my emails again later and 5 min after the confirmation email i got 3 more emails saying my account is now active and i could access the videos. I think your tutorials are really good but I had written you guys off as some sort of scam after trying to sign up, I can imagine I'm not the first
Greetings! Appreciate your feedback, noted. We'll look into this and see how we can improve the overall experience and make it more clear for the future sign-ups!
I see so many videos of Niagra despawn actor effect but there are so very little on spawn your character in, on UE5. No one shows how to create the effect that you could see from a 3rd person character spawning in on your level. Any ideas?

Hello there! The ring texture Jason used is included in the *Unreal Engine 5: Niagara Block-in* project in our Free Training. And there's more Unreal content available there too :) bit.ly/3h2dLiY
@@Yung_Carrot The texture should be in the project under: VFXA_Foundations > All > Content > 1300_Foundations > Shared > Textures. Let me know if I can help with anything else!
Greetings! This texture actually consists of two parts. One is the outside ring, which you can easily create by using the shape tool, you can use an eraser and a soft smudge brush to add details and make it more interesting. Then you can add the light rays to the texture by using a soft brush, the smudge tool, and quite a bit of Gaussian Blur. Also, this exact texture was made by Ali Sorensen in Krita, during the Intro to Hand-Painted Textures series, along with other ones! The series itself is available with an All Access subscription, you can check out the brief course breakdown here: www.vfxapprentice.com/courses/hand-painted-textures-stylized-fx

To edit FX, you'll need to install the Epic Games launcher and then download Unreal Engine 5. If you're asking about publishing, Unreal Engine is best for console, PC, or mobile games.
@@VFX_Apprentice Thanks for the quick response...So the site seems to have courses scattered around under various heading I am not sure what VFX-A All access means then there is featured courses then guided courses and 2d fx courses 3d fx courss and advances 2d/3d courses and what not. As a new visitor its very over whelming. So lets say imagine me wanting to learn Niagara I clicked 3d vfx courses obviously and there is plantohra of 3d courses with no skill structures or order....Ok now I see Uncreal Engine 5 niagara block in Vfx level one...ok great I found something what is level 2 and then do I need to do Intro to materials unreal engine 5 or not etc etc. I think please make a structure like Linked in or Coursera style...for example make a Niagara learning path like Niagra level 1 2 and 3 in this fashion. I hope I have tried my best to explain the concept and please keep these workshop and bootcamps away from the coruses section. Please visit sites like codeacademy, datacamp, pluralsight, Linkedin leanrning to get the idea. Don't get me wrong and tanks for the amazing content I am big fan of your work just the site needs bit of order thank you. All the best.
And since it is all basically one project, if I cannot figure one of the steps out, I feel like I cannot really continue the tutorial because I cannot continue to build on a level of a building for example, if I am not doing the floor that I need to build over it properly. So not only do I get upset that I cannot finish the tutorial, but also that I already spent so much time on it. Even though the whole tutorial is only around 20 minutes it takes me hours to get halfway through it. I guess I am learning the stuff up to the point that I am not able to figure out, but it still makes me want to put my fist through my screen sometimes.
i really appreicate this video! ive always wanted to dabble with VFX but saw it as a mammoth task. This made it so much less daunting! Thanks @VFX_Apprentice

Is Niagara the new method of stylized effects? People don't use scrolling textures?

Good thing they labelled the speed "Velocity Speed" or no one would know what they meant. Imagine if they had just put "Velocity." Or "Speed."
