I struggled with my hairline and possibility of loosing my hair at a young age throughout my teenage years. It was a grueling sometimes defiant journey I took to accepting that being bald might be something to embrace rather than suffer. This is the story of accepting my hair. (or lack of it)

I started losing my hair at 14
And my schoolmates teased me and bullied me and that traumatized me for as long as I can remember. But what was more worse was me denying that its not true. I focused on my studies and never put effort on my hair.
But when it became undeniable I decided to shave it all off at 17 and to my worries the cause was seborrheic dermatitis which went undiagnosed and now when it is gone I have lost most of my hairs but I never lost hope. But now when I'm 20 and I'm going to college I feel stressed on how I will cope up with it!

I can't imagine what its like for a man to lose his hair. I think as a society we're used to seeing men with both hair, and no hair, so it doesn't seem like such a big deal. But as an individual, it must be kinda traumatic in some ways
It's so scary. Losing your hair while you're young is so scary. A part of you just gets removed and you can't stop it (unless you take some kind of pills). It goes so slowly and when it happens you'll slowly notice it until it's too noticable. I'm only 20, but my hairline is recceeding pretty badly and im so scared of getting bald.
@@babyj4154 Thanks for the kind words
there is a women type of balding its not a male thing only, but yeah its sad ☹
I have lost hair, always have to wear hats, im 22 been wearing hats since college, loosing hair at this age is like losing half of your childhood, you basically have your teenage years but after that you dont really have a "young adult" stage, it hinders and effects men in so many ways, you cant go out without covering your head, cant style your hair, obviously, who wears a suit with a cap or any sort of hat? Girls think you are in your 30s, your friends will make jokes about it but thats all fine, strangers make fun of it which isnt nice but you can manage, its a massive hit to your confidence... men usually bald with age, at a certian age most men go bald, its called male pattern balding, its normal, but at this age you miss out on sooo much because of that... its crazy
Wtf I've been shaving my head since I was 20 and I never felt like you guys describe.
That smile at the end, even though you might not have felt that way, it really changed me. I’ve been so scared to lose my hair because my dad and grandpa and uncle are all bald, and in today’s society everyone looks at your hair for who you are. Im only 14 but the day will come soon and that smile made me feel like everything would be ok. Thanks man

Hi Giovanni..I just want to say that you're extremely brave to be able to accept yourself at 20.
I lost my hair in patches starting high school and pretty much from that time on to now, I'm still wearing caps to cover up what I feel misrepresents me. I'm still not able to accept myself fully. I am hopeful one day I can look at my self in the mirror and be able to see that beautiful guy I once felt like. On paper, it's easy to say I am over it. But in reality, every single minute there's something that ticks me off. I always wonder how free I'd be had I had my hair.
Wow I'm so sorry. This issue really needs as much attention as fat-shaming is getting.
@healing like a boss I feel you bro I started thinning when I was 17 I’m 20 now and my hair is still on my scalp but not as before you can see the damage it has done and it really messed with my self esteem and I slowlybecame another person my girlfriend left me and I lost almost all of my friends and it sucks so now I have depression and i just feel that life isint fair at the moment I hope I get over it soon and just be happy how I used to be..

Hi I am Manikandan. My age is 26.Started falling hair since last 2 months. But I don't know why even I took care of my hair properly. Seems I am going to be bald within a year. Tried to take a treatment but useless. When I look in the mirror and losing my hair, I lose my confidence. Sometimes I think why so much pressure putting on my mind. Sometimes I feel like going to die but I do have so many responsibilities to fulfill. I also got humiliated from my friends of losing hair. Don't know what should needs to be done.
This video hits on a personal level, I always knew I would go bald as I grew up seeing my dad bald from an early age. It wasn’t close up until grade 10 when I realized that I began losing hair. It would begin with small little strands of hair falling after every shower to little mudders and comments made by school friends. I spent countless hours researching habits and medical medicines to help stop and/or help the growth of hair. At first, it hurt, I had countless hours of depression, nights of pure tears crying over the fact that I cannot have my thick curly hair, I will not be young anymore, I will not be considered good looking. It really affected my confidence and self-esteem and just overall had a negative impact on me. But now as I approach university, I’ve realized it’s natural. Yeah I might’ve had it a little too early and yeah it might not be the most attractive thing to deal with, but it’s not the end of the world for me. I’ve got a lot of time and things to do in life and stressing over my hair is not only going to further encourage hair loss but impact my health overall. I’d like to thank anyone who stood by and read my story and encourage others to share theirs, I’d love to hear them. As a final message, to all my fellow balding members, love yourself and be happy, your hair does not make up for who you are!
Edit: I've read over some of the comments people have left below for me and would like to address some of the things I've read.
*Shaving your head helps boost with confidence* : I completely agree with this and I myself in the future decided that if I don't go through hair transplants and if my hair continues to get weaker I will most likely shave it off as I myself don't like the look of thinning hair on someone. The only reason as to why I haven't done it already is because thankfully I still have a decent amount of hair with only a few thinning occur as of now (you can see through my youtube videos that it isn't as bad as I make it sound but it's clear to someone like me who sees it every morning)
*Hair does make up for you as a whole* : There was a time where I genuinely believed this, I will not sit here and lie to you by telling you that I would look better without hair or that ladies find it more attractive. It's true, I've had many girls in my life like me for my curly hair as now it's starting to become a trend too. But the thing is when you fixate your mindset to believe stuff like this, it does nothing but make you a small-minded person. The hair on your head doesn't define your personality, if that were the case I would've lost a lot of friends and connections over the two times that I decided to buzz my hair to a very low point in order to regrow it. I was told both good and bad things about trimming all my hair, but at the end of the day, I was loved equally as much as I was before having my long hair. For those of you who are commenting "If it helps you sleep better" or "You can feed yourself lies" it really does help me sleep and night when I acknowledge that there is more in life than to stress about my hair loss, and I would feed myself lies by telling myself that my life is over without hair. There was a point in my life where I believed that I should be sad and grief over losing my hair, but then I see other men out there who are living life to the fullest with a shinny head and even my father is a great example of someone who confidently rocked the fact that he lost his hair and doesn't care about it.
*You will not receive attention from women* : I can begin by proving this statement wrong by mentioning that I have a female partner with her knowledge of my hair loss issue, and also the fact that I would receive attention from women when I had shaved my hair off in early stages of my life, but it's useless. Every single one of the girls I have an encounter with had told me that they liked me for my personality and enjoyed spending time with me not my hair. If you're stuck behind the issue that women will find you less attractive because of your hair, move on from those women. I've had girls who found me cute for my hair, but that didn't affect me because I didn't let it affect me. You will never find a woman who loves you for you until you start loving yourself until then you will only find women who will appreciate your looks. The reality is the difference between a woman liking you for you and a women liking you for your looks is that the lady who is into you for your hair can wake up one day not finding you attractive and leave you. But the women who genuinely loves you for you will love you no matter what and that is the kind of woman I need in my life.
LegitOpsII man I feel the same, I started noticing the balding at around sophomore year since at first I didn’t really catch cuz I’ve always had sort of a big forehead. But as I started seeing the pictures from when I was younger to where I am now, you can clearly see the recession from about 14/15 to where I am now at 17. My hair is pretty thick though and it covers up my receding temples very well but I just recently buzzed it off to see how I look bald, and man it kinda killed my confidence to be honest. My head is weirdly shaped and u can see my hairline is just very bad. And the sad part is you can’t really talk about it to your family or anyone else cuz they don’t understand. They think it’s as easy as “just accept it”. Only others in my shoes can truly grasp the pain of losing your hair especially at a young age. But I’m sure eventually I will be able to accept it and move on with my life. Thanks for hearing me out :)
Damn I feel y’all. So there’s really nothing u can do to slow it down?
Dude if I may suggest a tip: If your hair is really at the point where people can see that you're balding, just go bald. You say that it makes you feel insecure and that it's ugly etc but that isn't true and I tell you why. People that walk around with a head that's balding don't feel confident in general, the worst part about this is that you can literally see that ON their head. Balding looks bad, people try to cover it up which makes it even stand out more which makes it even more of a topic for other people. For example, most of us had that teacher in school that had really weird, balding hair, because he's keeping it, it makes him even more of an insecure topic for the students, you know what I mean?
Go bald. Sure, it may look 'different', but in general it'll look better than the balding cut. In the worst case scenario, if you have a weird shaped head, it won't look the best. But the fact that you're literally shaving off all that hair and saying: ''I don't care what it looks like so I'm just shaving it off'', that radiates confidence man and THAT is the real attraction for women. If you keep the balding hair, have a bad hairline etc, it literally shows that you feel insecure about it and that you don't want to let it go. If you go bald, you turn that fear around in confidence.
I thought the bald gene comes from the mothers side?
My hairline is terrible but neither my dad nor my grandfathers are bald and I’m 17 idk what’s going on
Poor boy. Can't imagine the pain when realising. Only thing you can do is be strong and be happy.
As a dude who has been balding around the same time...at first it is absolutely devastating. Then over time like any punch life throws at you you learn to embrace it and then accept it. Then you start to love yourself again and you actually end up stronger. Beauty fades, balding early on gives you the strength to understand that process early in life and focus on what matters most.
side not tho, there are people who are never able to accept it and stay miserable for the rest of their life which are the true people in pain.
@@THE______TRUTH I mean, the kid in the video didn't become 'ugly' because he lost hair. I never had my hair very short length-wise so shaving it all off was a shock for me but I quickly got used to it (like within a week or two) and started to genuinely like the look. But I was in my mid twenties so I guess it'd be more of a curve ball if I had to shave it all off at 18. I'd still do it, though.
@Gloxxy I feel you. I'm 14 and balding :(
The Truth I am 20 years and i got bald it’s so bad I can’t skip the bad feeling it’s really hard 💔
Hair loss is the male struggle nobody ever talks about, guys all have to endure it in silence only because it's something that's so common, doesn't make it any easier to see your full head of hair lose its battle to the passage of time, it sucks
It isn't a struggle for everyone though.
I decided to shave it off at 30 because it had starter receding.
'To me it wasn't a big deal at all. No one around me payed much attention to it or treated me any differently. I didn't lose any confidence over it.
@@ziudra91 good for you but no one asked
@@OddSauce Why so mean? This is a forum too to talk and discuss about topics. If you don’t understand just stop to comment here because no one asked you to comment here.
@@OddSauce What kind of a lame response is "no one asked?" This is a public forum, so you're commenting on here for responses. All the guy did was give you a differing perspective based on his own experience. Are you gonna take an attitude with anyone and everyone who doesn't share your opinion down to the letter? I agree with your original comment, but you're lame for what you just did. If you can't handle talking on here, you should just stop commenting.
I really feel this guy’s struggle. It must not have been a pleasant realization for him to see himself losing a little bit of hair every day when he was looking in the mirror. You think to yourself it will grow back out and everything would be fine. But it won’t be fine. Your hair is not coming back. Your drive yourself crazy with the question, why is this happening to me. You try to convince yourself that people won’t treat you differently because of your hair loss. Somehow they don’t see the positive personality and the great quality you have. They only see a man without hair. I myself really lost my hair when I was 20. I noticed it, but could not do anything about it. I would look in the mirror and cry, because I did not feel like the same man I was 3 year ago because of my hair loss. I am not ready for the changes I have to be used to, and I will never be ready for them.
So I wish I was nearly as brave as this guy and show the world how to rock the new look. I speak for myself and probably a lot other people when I say that you look great bald! And you are not alone in this world!

So what I did in my college years is first few weeks I go no hat then in the middle can now start rocking them. By now people would have seen me bald so they won’t be surprised if I take my hat off. & that’s how I pulled through college.
I dont understand why people complain when you can litterly research and get a hair transplant that’s honest and not a scam
Check scalp Micropigmentation
@justin girard not everybody can afford it & it’s never a long term solution. Soon those follicles will die too & you’d be forced to shave. If you do shave you’d expose the huge scar at the back of your head from where the follicles were extracted. Pick your cross.
@Tiago Martins I’m gonna have that done. That’s far better
Omg I felt so bad dude. Really hope you are successful enough to not bother about your experience....
Well-done video. Thanks for sharing with us your insecurities and finally your courage and acceptance to shave your head, which looks great!
When you accept your insecurities no one can use them against you. Much respect for you!
Look good dude. Kick the story over to BaldCafe’s channel
Not everything needs to involve Baldcafe.
Tony Dadá 😂 Tony how could you!
Chris Estabon yes ! I think he is cool 😎👍🏽👍🏽
No he looks like shit and that is how a majority of people will look bald. There are so many options for intervention in hairloss like finasteride minoxidil a hair transplant a hair system. These just shave it bros are just a classic example of misery seeking company. You are not Jason statham you are not the rock and you certainly aren’t a male model. For a majority of people they are better off socially and psychologically with hair than without and encouraging that men don’t resolve this issue out of some sense of stoicism or masculine posturing is harmful to society at large. There is nothing wrong with wanting to not feel like shit and if shaving your head makes you feel good than fine. But don’t scorn men for wanting to keep their hair out of some pathetic desire for confirmation bias. People like bald cafe are a cancer to society and the sooner such attitudes that he promotes are dispelled the better
@@JohnDoe-ix6my Agreed 100%. Sure some guys may look good bald but that's not every fucking guy who is balding. You could just get a job and work your ass off for a few years and get a costly hair transplant from a good surgeon. It's not like the only fucking option is to "just shave it off".
Wow that's some skill done on the video making and cinematography❤️
I can feel you bro as I'm going through this! And trust me this is devastating for me for my confidence for every part of my life! 😓

No bald guy looks god
Ahhh I am not alone. Thank you for this video❤
I am 20 and I too facing the same but this video really made me comfortable.
I feel for you man. I went through this as well, hairline receded at 18 and by 21 totally bald, had to shave it. It's not fair how people ridicule guys who lost their hair, especially women. They will never know the pain of experiencing partial death of your character, your self identity. As if it's not had enough losing that to ourselves we get the joy of being ridiculed by society at large too. I try to stay positive by thinking of people who have it worse than us with really harsh disabilities, because as bad as we have it it could still be so much harder. But man, it just further proves how unfair this world is. Stay strong and do whatever it takes to be happy.
Honestly, the bigger problem is the indifference you face from women rather than ridicule, especially for us who go/went bald young.
There's a better reason for it. Those who struggle most are the blessed ones who are given the chance to become an impenetrable wall.
Sadly I’m on the wrong side
I sympathize with your struggle and I know people are cruel about balding but if ANYBODY knows about facing ridicule over their appearance including things they can’t help it is women
U can try hair oil
Now that most people are shaving their heads in quarantine, you will basically fit with everyone else, but in the real side though, it sucks to see someone loose hair before they are at the age to drink, especially when it's a lot
I just became bald today, I felt like I'll gold but now i hate it.This video helped me✊🏾

This was a very well made video . Loved it
Taking a picture with the flash on in bright day light is hilarious XD
Bro, you're the bravest. There's a lot of narcissistic, self-absorbed content out there, but you put out something personal, vulnerable, and helpful to other dudes who can be inspired and reassured by this video. Thank you. Btdubs, you rock the bald look pretty damn well.
This deserves so much more recognition! It’s not easy losing hair at such a young age and dealing with it :(
Do a video how being bald affected your life at such a young age! You will help out a lot of us who are stuck with questions, including me :D
So strong! I can feel it but great that you did it 👌
If a guy is good-looking, it doesn’t matter if he has hair or not..it really depends on the physical features of the person.
What if you're ugly then what huh ?
That depends bc having a bald head could make a good looking guy ugly

The hairline that you had at 18 is the same as mine at 16. It's super harrowing to learn that you're losing hair when you're just a teenager.
Ow... i feel sorry bro. I couldnt imagine something like this happening to me. Its so unexpectdd

Bald at 16, grew a nice beard and had the luck to have a perfectly shaped head to go bald. Some people like the guy who made this vid dont have the shape for a bald head and look like a alien. Hope you have a nice shape and grow a beard
i've been slowly balding since i was 22 but it's just the sides and im 30 now and i can still work with it. i just always felt bad for guys who lost it so early. that's just not fuckin fair
I think I might be losing mine at 15 years old
30 is also early
Mine started going when I was 15. I'm 18 now. Still haven't come to terms with it yet. It kinda robbed me of my high school years.
@@LegendryHeropon dude seriously look into hair loss treatments like minoxidil, finasteride and ketoconazole shampoo
@@miserquemiguel2144 Yes but not uncommon. 66% of males have some degree of baldness at the age of 30. It's completely normal tho.
Man you give me so much hope please stay strong😁
i experience that to, now in use Hairouse minoxidil product
I started going a bit thin at 21 and have shaved my head ever since (36 now) To say it didn't bother me would be a lie, because my happiness at that age depended on things that were outside of my control.
I could give more practical advice eg grow a beard, get ripped etc but I'd prefer to give more valuable advice: go easy on yourself. Losing your hair is not your fault and it's not a good or bad thing, it's exactly what your thoughts decide it is, and that's something you can control. Focus on the good things you do have, count your blessings and know that absolutely no one on earth is exempt from struggle and pain in life. Peace
Mate your comment really motivated me im 20 and started losing my hair and i was really panicking until i read your comment..bless you

Nice vid! We all go thru the same phase, yours was just earlier. But, you realized the truth and why hide from it. You kept your hair shorter and shorter, so the transition of shaving off the rest was not major. You look good! And now, one less thing to worry about with hair styling or comb-overs. You can do the bald head / beard thing that still looks pretty manly. Congrats on your new endeavor! Best things yet to come with more important things in your life. Just on hiccup you've successfully overcome.
I've been bald since I was twelve, and although I got jokes at school, some of my friends thought it was pretty cool and helped me through it.
I feel ya. Man, I was 20 myself when I started to lose hair, and if it wasnt bad enough its the worst type of bald hairline, like someone decided to prank on you and trim your top entirely.
