- I thought I would give Elden Ring a chance and let's say it was an experience... (nervous laugh)

TBH putting the tree sentinel right on the start gate probably scared a lot of players. Lol
Margit also. But it depends on ur buffs. And where u explore. The sleeping dragon and running from balls off of Lenne tower (2k runes each run) wouod be enough to give anyone 40 levels in 2 hours of playing if u know where to go. The sleeping dragon has a glitch where if u are mounted and u see the tail twitch u can run back to the site of grace and farm it repeatedly. Again there is an easy mode in Elden ring. It’s jusr not in the menu. Lol
It took me about 7 hours to get into the game, getting constantly killed by Imps and literally every other enemy, unable to defeat a boss. Now, 2500 hours later with several dozens of playthroughs, I’m still addicted, playing it every day.
I'm definitely very deep into the game too and it is so much fuckin fun
I'm on my second play through and completely over shadowed my first play through. I'm only level 62 but we have been GRINDING my guy.
I might play this game forever.

I know the feeling. The fist playthrough was a grind, but then I ended up doing 6 more and was much more adept... LOL
I said this before on someone else's video but there is a point in souls games(Yes I played all of them) where you go from this to maniacally laughing as you fight bosses with the thought "Lets see how many times I die before I kill you" running through your head.
I 100% agree. Its like going from the weak side character to a strong main character.
That very thought was going through my mind, fighting Genichiro last weekend. I knew he would go down, and that fact is very relaxing, no matter how hard it may seem in the beginning. If I struggle heavily with a boss, I sometimes watch a no hit run and convince myself, that if this can be done, I can do it as well. It’s all a matter of time, or speaking in terms of Sekiro: Hesitation is defeat.

@@josasjeed Idk if you're still stuck on her, but storm blade ash of war just carried me through this fight. She gets staggered by it super consistently, and the AOW only costs 10 FP per cast. Just remember to dodge when she poises through one.
Exactly what happened with Bloodborne. Fell in love, and 4 playthroughs later, still going strong
It’s really about accepting the philosophy of the game and playing it on its own terms. Dying is necessary and apart of the experience, and it makes it hilarious and frustrating - and your accomplishments that more satisfying.
It's literally like life as a game. It's fun but it's a struggle

@@josasjeed it's scary at first, but for her I don't use a shield.. 2 handing a weapon, dual wielding, or using a weapon in one hand and a staff/catalyst in the other.. those are the only real options.. could also try stamina talisman or turtle shell on your back for stamina regen... Idk if they stack though, never checked

Stumbled upon this, love the commitment gave it a double platinum.. That first moment when you realized you can run through everything is glorious moment.
I realised it wasn't like other games so why would I play it like every other game
@@josasjeed had so much fun with this game did a frenzy flame ending run 10 hrs skipped dam near everything's unless it was needed ng+5 so far, bloodborne was my introduction to souls but little did I Kno tenchu was birthed from, from software as well.
As an inherent completionist this goes against every fiber of my being. Gotta beat everything gotta own everything gotta sit in the swamp of death until I become the swamp 😂

@@josasjeed Malenia is a true test of skill and resilience, I hope you'll keep at it till you beat her! Personally her fight drives me crazy but one of the best feelings in the game is defeating her after she says "I've never known defeat"

Elden ring difficulty has a ton of sliders. They are just all in game. You can easily beat each boss. Whether it’s by yourself, summon, coop. And whatever equipment u use. I have done 4 play through a and NG+7 on one of them. Malenia still kicks. Lol
@@fubolibs4218 exactly!! So many powerful weapons and spells and summons, you can easily make any challenge in the game feel trivial if you want to. I did just that in my second playthrough, felt great to go back to all the bosses and kick the crap out of them! 😁
I spent 2 hours training at Gatefront. It was my first and only Fromsoft game as well. Incredibly, it is my favorite game I've ever played. The only game I've played since it's release (I am a working man).

People are raving about this game because it's what we all subconsciously believe an epic fantasy adventure game should be. When people call it genius that you have to explore to win, I can't help but realize that gaming is more casual than last I checked. Imagine having to explore an open world game to level up. Did that stop being a thing in open world games? I haven't gamed like this since Skyrim. The leveling system is as straightforward as it gets. And this is personal preference but a game with such beautiful art style shouldn't be easy like other games. You have done nothing to deserve staying in this epic battle with a tree stump weilding a magical hammer.
This game is quiet epic tho

@orlandoortiz7501 Gaming got more accessible so it makes sense why it got casual, now every game that is average or slightly above that in difficulty is the Dark Souls of said game. Companies also got a lot more greedy, Fifa was the same game every year, Pokemon Scarlet/Violet was a mess, almost every multiplayer game has to have lootboxes and battlepasses. Yet, people still waste their money
on those games, so there is no reason for companies to learn from it if their failure works

It is a bit difficult at the beginning,but once i got a few runes,understood the mechanics of it,and realise that exploring the world is the key to beating it,i pretty much destroyed all the bosses.
After I got whooped I deadass just made and int build and spammed spells and moonveil I haven't finished the game tho
Yeah I don’t force myself to beat a stronger boss I just explore and fight something easier level up and that boss won’t be an issue anymore

Like you I never wanted to pick up a souls game but talked myself into picking ER about a month ago and im already 300+ hours in and on my first ng+ run, I cant seem to put this game down! Its a masterpiece and I understand why it got goty.
Definitely, I'm trying to get my friend to try it because he's a little salty gow ragnarok lost but once he plays he'll understand

That's why I kinda practised with Star wars (which means I had no practise at all because Elden Ring was so much harder then I thought)
@@josasjeed it’s usually just about how to approach combat in souls games vs souls likes, in something like Star Wars fallen order for example you’re meant to be able to take on multiple enemies at once and have all the means to do so while in Elden Ring or other souls games multiple enemies is a death sentence so you have to use all your options to wittle them down instead of going in swinging unga bunga style lol although Elden Ring is probably the first souls game to give a lot more options to clear multiple enemies
Looking at new players players play the game, one issue I realized is how open endedness can make a game difficult. Not because open endedness is bad design, but people are conditioned to play with markers and directions and lack of any punishing aspects for losing. Which again isn't bad thing. Its just is a wall that one would face while switching to this genre.

Great job editing man. Elden Ring is a nightmare on your 1st run for everyone. That's what makes it so good. No handouts here. Character development & understanding of where the good gear is & how to get it is key. Also nabbing nabbing those runes & not losing them all while getting murdered by a boss & never getting them back because you died on top of him 😂
If you start a boss fight with runes you might as well say bye to them😂

This is almost exactly what happened to me my first play through, same class too. I'd rage quit dark souls 1 when it came out and sekiro, but eventually I realized this game is like a fighting game mixed with the RPG aspects. When I found out hitboxes were that precise then it got way easier.

I’m someone who is 40 yrs old. Haven’t played games since literally Zelda ocarina on N64. So it’s clear to say, I’m not a gamer, probably the farthest thing from it. Anyways, I saw Elden ring come out, and for a year, I kept saying, that game looks amazing but there’s no way I could hang. Well let me say after 500 hrs invested in to Elden ring, it is the best game I have ever played. It was challenging but if someone like me can hang, I will never understand how people like this can’t?? There was never a time where I was stuck or struggling, because of the open world, I could find areas that my level matched up with better. Hands down the best game made, and the numbers don’t lie. Cannot wait for the DLC. This game has gotten me excited about gaming again. At 40 yrs old no less. lol.
I'm so happy to hear that this game really is amazing in how it helps people get back into gaming after the soul sucking games with a ball and a gun.

LOL elden ring is my first game from this studio and since I suck at rolling/dodging I went full INT wizard. It's really comfy, when you can kill 90%+ of enemies before they even understand what's going on. Plus you can have spell for almost any situation/enemy.
I used to be the same tooo I changed tho just to make the videos more interesting and you can't really spam them against malenia.

I started as a samurai, a very unlikely grey skinned samurai ...and then fell in love with dex / faith - blasphemous sword, the gransax spear + the obvious bleed set. Im stuck at the elden beast since a couple of days, fingers crossed

Ha ha that was me when I first started. Now I'm 350+ hours and 3 playthroughs into the game. It's crazy how steep the learning curve is in the beginning but also crazy how much you progress as a player after hundreds of hours. Truly, "git gud".
Yeah thats so true, I'm currently making a Dark Souls 3 video and I really miss Elden ring. Plus I feel like I'm better at these types of games now compared to before.
What I love about Elden Ring is that you set your own challenges. Wether if this is your first souls-like game or not. It was my first and for sure won't be my last. learned the way of the parry with a medium shield which I know is harder than a smaller one. Nut I honestly think that is bs. The game fully adapts to your playstyle. To the point I can beat Malenia or Radagon by full parry. I think that what really sets up this weird vibe on these games is that as content creators (me, streamer :v) mentally set ourselves to "fill" expectations of others. It is starting to happen to me thinking if I will make it in "Lords of the Fallen".
Now to be fair. Sometimes is just simply a wall breaking revelation. Which sounds stupid but is true. Whenever you wanna be better at life, You play these type of games. Learning to handle frustration, be auto critical, learn from your mistakes and progress through them... are just a few bunch of examples that this does to you. I have NEVER got to a point of destroying my keyboard, Joystick or anything like others have done. My first Playthrough took me 3 whole days to beat Malenia. But... man it felt so good! XD
Hope your experience is an amazing one as well. Cause blv me when i say this. Whenever you beat this game, you wish you could re-play it as if it was the first time. And that will never happen.

I get what you mean about the pressure because if I just run my int build for the fight I don't think it'll be vsiaully stimulating so I might switch momentarily as a challenge thing.
But yeah when it's Iver it's over. I remember seeing all these places for the first time and I genuinely couldn't believe a game like this existed. It's scale and beauty is unmatched 😍

I can’t even find Malania and I’ve played 3 other souls games before this one. This game is the worst of all of them
I spent the first year of this games release watching from the outside looking in, and i could tell just how hard it was. But what drew me in was the ability to play how you want (for the most part). Then i got into builds, found which one i wanted to try out (Godslayer cuz.... idk it looked dope lol) and ended up buying the game. The fight that stressed me the most was the Godskin Apostle at the bottom of the Divine tower in Caelid. It was a fight i HAD to do for my build. Wasnt sure what level I needed to be to try it but i ended up at 80 and decided that was where i wanted to be. Needless to say, the boss wrecked me at least 15 times. Then i started figuring out patterns. Ways to inflict jus a tad more damage. And found the perfect summon. And victory never tasted sweeter. Not only did i win, but beating that boss gave me the confidence to challenge all following bosses head on. The experience with the Godskin made me better at the game, and thats the thing thats so special about Elden Ring. Agonizing defeat... followed by the joy of victory after a hard fought battle. Man what a game.

There is only one thing that beats the feeling of first setting foot in this magical world
And that is - after you have beat the game... vanquished all the bosses...
...and you again step out into this world - with a second character...
...and wonder - how did I ever have problems with the golden knight?

I am glad I played monster hunter world before this. There is a lot of commonality in it. Prepwork, observing before engaging and looking for openings, knowing when to fall back and most important, not getting greedy.
If you treat every fight like a boss fight its not so bad. Than and raise your damn vigor bro. 20 in vigor makes a differnce. 40 will carry you through half the game easy. You can buff damage by upgrading your weapon.

They are terrifying because you are literally a nobody in a strange land and Margit is literally so strong to force you to go explore level and gear up.

@@josasjeed honestly there are harder things out there. Godrick is easier than Margit. This game wants you to have Determination and to actually feel great when you finally beat it. I am level 170 and got wrecked by pretty much every single enemy once. In this one you need to always be on your toes.

I love this game so much. And I thought I would hate it, and I kind of did a little at first. But I stuck with it and eventually geared up and got better. On my first playthrough I eventually made it my goal to kill every single boss in the game. And I did. Even Melania (who actually only took me 4 tries on that first run). Now i just finished my third run on NG+2 as an all shield run, which was really fun. Couldn't beak Melania with the shields but I did defeat the Elden Beast. Then decided to try some shenanigans and beat Melania with a Great Stars with Prelates Charge on it, Bloodflame Blade, and Fires Deadly Sin. It dealt so much bleed damage so fast it was ridiculous and kept Melania stunlocked at the same time.
I'm jealous you beat her in 4 tries
@@josasjeed She has relatively low poise so if you hit her with a big enough weapon you can actually knock her around a little. I used the mimic tear and staggered my attacks with his so that we were just juggling her back and forth.

Same with me. It literally took 6 hours on and off for me to get into it
At first I was like, here is someone that is obviously having a much worse time at starting ER than myself! But once you began the operation, I was like yes, I remember when I realized to start farming runes, play out the attacks etc etc, true Rocky Inspiration, but re living the highs of defeating those first bosses, OMG, by the end you had a tear, and a sub!

ELDEN RING IS AMAZING! I sucked when I first starting playing it. Because it was my first from software game ever. I'm so glad I stuck with it, u just need to give it time and get better. I loved my experience, and now I'm a huge fan of those types of games. I'm playing lies of p and that's so far my favorite game of this year .

I felt the same so I waited for it to be on sale then chose the astrologer mage class and I’m so glad I did! I’m now 250 hours in and actively trying to make it last as long as possible. Yes the dying is extremely frustrating but eventually overcoming your enemy is so satisfying

Man I was completely new to souls games and when I saw the tree sentinel..I was so stubborn to run away like what most people do. I wanted to beat that guy at that moment when I just started and about like 4 hours of constantly dying and having like 5 times where the tree sentinel was literally at 1 hp but me getting to impatient and throwing it…I finally beat the tree sentinel… After I beat him is when I realised I was in love with souls games and the thought of dying didn’t discourage me in the slightest
It's just hard for newcomers to re programme their brain to not fight everything and to not panic role.
And it feels so fucking good when you finally beat that boss that's been Bitching you around for 2 days straight

And the fear of dying is also a big factor, I noticed some new people who play the game are overly cautious and doing everything in their power to not die (which results in panic rolling) I was like that for the first half of my tree sentinel fight until I died so many times that I just sort of stopped caring about death haha

These games basicly teach you how to have peace with death and dying, it's not a question of 'if' more 'when' or 'how many' before winning the fight.
It's definitely taught me about timing and patience because I can't just spam dodge because they'll just mis time their attacks
I quit the game like a year ago when I couldn't beat Margit. Recently started a new game and watched a bunch of walk throughs and I beat Margit the other day. What a great feeling.

I have spended a few days watching yt videos about mechanics of this game and builds, finally I started a new character, Samurai this time and not Bandit for bow build. Double katanas using Nagakiba. Then the magic of exploration and combat of this game devoured me. I finished thig game few times with different builds. I envy you that you can experience this as a new.

Just brought the game...last one was bloodbourne and it was awesome..proper best game...watching ya video made me laugh not in a negative way..but in a way i that i'll know u enjoyed it...i will as well!!

I think the biggest problem for people starting this game, they approach it like any other game they've ever played, I sure know I made that mistake, running guns a blazing into enemies, spamming attack and running out of stamina super fast, spam dodging and getting caught by attacks because the I-frames are way less forgiving than in other games, you have to throw out every assumption you have and learn this game form complete scratch, this is a whole different experience than anything else, but once you learn it and master it, it's so fun, and I get it's not for everyone, but this is the kind of game I was missing
This game definitely did get me back into gaming again because there's a whole other genre I was too scared to play.

Yeah I've noticed people kinda give up because people usually focus only on story and they don't actually take the time to explore
tip: pay attention to the equipment load, the lighter you are, the more invincibility frames your bearing will have, we have 4 stages of bearing (light, medium, heavy and overload)
also, use crafting mechanics, you can make bombs and greases to maximize your damage

Great idea
I would suggest you dodge the rock in lenne tower until you get at least 30-40 vigor and 20-30 endurance. Cranking up the offensive stats are way less useful when your weapons or catalyst dont scale much at lower levels.But having more hp from vigor and being able to equip better armor/heavier armor will allow you some breathing room to dance with the bosses. The game is much less stressful when you dont get 2-shotted...
