I know you covered what you set the front shocks at, however you never said what you set the back shocks at or the limiter strap. I agree with this sled being so much fun to ride!
Well said. I feel that a lot of todays sleds aren’t as fun as they could be. These days I want a ride that’s playful with a personality and not necessarily built to set lap times. Isn’t the st what it’s all about going out and having fun !!

To come out of a power carve or Donut into a wheelie while sitting alpha/ riot x is the sled you want🤘🏻
Nice honest review Luke - from last years impressions to this years second look/ride and tweaking to your likings, your review is something you don't get in a showroom or dealer on a commission, let alone a test ride. Cheers and stay safe

I love mine, it's a blast to ride and handles like a dream in the UP Michigan trails. Just turned 600 miles and plan on putting many more on this Beast. Thanks for the review.
I tested this sled 2 weeks ago and my riding impressions are 100% aligned with yours. You really explained well how it feels to ride. I had a Mach z and renegade 850xrs to compare and i had the most fun on the Lynx. I ride 450 dirt bike and the weight transfer for me feels like home. The shock package is so good that for me it felt at par or better than the smart shock the 2 other sleds were equiped with. The 3 sleds were set up by the engineers from brp so they were set up perfect. All 3 sleds were perfect and a lot of fun to ride but with my money i would bring the lynx home. Refreshing and cool sled to ride. Snowtrax you guys nail your review. I am a fan now and impressed of the accuracy of your comment.
Great review! And don't listen to the obsessed manufacturer loyal guys. Being too loyal to a maker is bad for the consumer. If we all gravitate toward the best products, then it forces all of the manufacturers to improve and innovate. Anyway, what sleds would you compare this to in the market? I have been riding Arctic Cat XF sleds for several years, and am now on a '22 Polaris Matryx SB Assault 850. My XFs have been great and reliable, but the Assault is so light, nimble, athletic. Most exciting sled I have ever been on. Your description of the Lynx sounds like it should be a head to head comparison with the Assault, but dimensionally, they are different. So, fill in the blank...If you are happy riding your __________, then you will love this Lynx. Thanks!!!!
Great video once again. Everyone can tell you enjoy this snowmobile just by the sound of excitement in your voice. I have a 19 SBA 850 and love it. I would love to see Polaris put out a beefed up assault, uncoupled, with their new engine. AND, most of know you're not bias so keep doing what you do. Great job and, by the looks of it, a great sled.
Hey Luke, I just got my Lynx Rave RE 850 last night. Thanks for the settings for the front shocks, I'll give it a try for sure. But what about the rear suspension ? Did you just stick withe the std settings ? And is the limiter strap still at the 2nd hole from bottom ? Huge thanks from a diehard fan from Quebec !!
Never ridden a lynx Rave 850 or any 850, but as far as looking at the sled it’s one of my favourites, if it rides as good as you say it does and looks killer, love to have the opportunity to try one! Nice 👍 job!
Like what you said about changing your mind a little about the stiffness. Rider weight, style and trail conditions play such a big role. This sled seems like the perfect Tug Hill sled for aggressive riders. I personally love my Rush with the uncoupled suspension.
Hi, Luke. I'm a guy that is about your size, I was wondering if you had the time to give me your setup on the Lynx Rave Re. I need a good starting point. My 2023 is sitting in a box at my dealer right now and I'm scheduled to pick it up on the 29th of November. Could you give me what you think I should set the rear sag at too. Thanks for your time..
I’m a Polaris rider and the first thing I always notice when I ride a skidoo is the heavy steering is the lynx lighter to steer with the uncoupled skid?
I've found they steer very light. I ride with a group of Polaris sleds and would say they feel similar and I'm not more worn out at the end of the day then anyone else. If the steering ever feels to heavy a quick blip of the throttle fixes that.
Hi Luke, you always do a great job on reviewing sleds. I'm curious about how tall you are, I act 6'2" and my final concern since I haven't got to sit or ride a lynx yet, but I plan on getting one, does it sit high like the assault?
I had a Lynx Boondocker 146" and felt it was bit too long. So I sold it and bought a XTrim 137", which is almost the RAVE, it has a narrower skistance, not as wide and flat footboards, slightly higher handlebars. And the track has 2.3" lugs. Very fun machine, I´ve tried the RAVE and would switch if I had the money, just for the wider skistance. Superplayful, and if the trail gets too bumpy, just give a little more throttle...
Just a heads up your shock settings should be from full in (hard) not full out (soft). This will give the most consistency in your settings from shock to shock.
I’m in the market for one of these. Another thing I’m noticing is I’m finding these sleds for roughly 15k vs other sleds going for like 17or 18k maybe more than that even
I have a Lynx Boondocker 4100.... Riding in McCall, ID the trail to the riding areas can get whooped out pretty bad, 12"-18" deep whoops on the regular, sometimes worse. Riding my Boondocker across them at speed is actually really amazing. My friends on sleds with traditional skids get bucked around and beat up pretty bad on the trail, usually more than the rest of the mountain ride. I usually have to be in front because the faster I go the better it gets, and everyone else has to stop regularly because of arm pump and sore knees. My suspension works hard and keeps my runners relatively flat, my front suspension isn't as smooth, but that's fixed pretty easily by increasing the speed on this sled, then the front floats a lot better.
As someone who rode race sleds for 12 years and want something different i think this may be my next ticket (once in G5 chassis) is this sled as capable as a converted race sled.. or close enough?
We had a 2014 lynx rave (i'm from finland) which i rode a couple of times on track so i would say that it's entirely possible to ride this thing stock on track or compare to a race sled

How does someone get a test ride on one of these? It sucks that you have to buy a sled to see if you like it. I wouldn't buy a car without a test drive but snowmobile dealerships expect us to drop $20k on a sled without knowing if it is a sled we will like.
when watching these... I was 1st confused of the term "groomed trails" but apparently over there you do tow-plow(not sure about that term) the trails quite often? Here, not so much... ;)
i thought Americans and Canadians did know that Rave model is what we call in Scandnavia a "Cross sled" and not cross like "Cross-over".. Cross like a Dirtbike. and Rave is focused on track / trail. like the old Arctic Cat ZR 440 Snow-Pro. but with 600, 700 and 850cc engine´s. RE is always 850 or bigger. i ride a regular Lynx Xterrain Pro 600R e-tec. yea the smallest one. but its enough for me for sure and the Xterrain is super good both on our Nordic trails and off-trail in deep snow.
I did a little research on the lynx sleds. There made for Sweden riders where they don't groom snowmobile trails. So these sleds have to perform at there best. Remember snowmobiling on an old 80's sled. They never groomed the trails. Rough as hell! I remember and so does my back!
@@olovfernquist1422 I can't remember what video I was watching. Maybe they said it was Norway. It was last year when I watched the video about the time they finally introduced them to the USA.
@@judee00 It's a misconception that trails isn't groomed in Sweden/Finland. Some isn't groomed but most with a bit more traffic is. In Norway snowmobiling has been pretty much banned until recently except for the very north parts. 4:00 i know i am a year late, but, i have to write this. if you want a little bit of both, ride hard one day, and family ride another day without setting up the susp. yea well you need to pick the Lynx Xterrain RE then. that´s the right sled for you then.
there is a Rave RE E-tec 600R. If you want a more race-focused machine, there is the Rave Enduro E-tec 600R. I quote Lynx's website, roughly translated into some kind of English "A specialist in cross-country racing and unforgiving tracks. The winning combination is based on details ready for racing, such as high-quality shock absorption, reinforced chassis and high performance brakes."
@@rideswift probably not. Lynx has always built fairly extreme race ready snowmobiles. not always so comfortable on a long trip after the sea ice. But entertaining when you go fast on nasty tracks. 😁

To be able to go from a power carve/ donut while sitting to a catwalk with zero effort says something to me!Not to hate on the lynx/ doo and polaris 146’s lol

And freeriding is illegal in almost entire Norway (fines if you cross the border into Norway from Sweden freeriding is about 1500$). I think freeriding is also very restricted in Finland (and they don't have so much mountains in Finland).
@@olovfernquist1422 I'm glad you clarified that up for me. It's too bad that it's not so free to ride where you want over there. What are riding for a snowmobile?
@@judee00 Rave RE -22. I have some clips on my youtube.
I wonder I SkiDoo will come out with a trail version of the Rav rear suspension in the future.
In Europe there is a Rave Enduro 3300. its a 129 track like an MXZ. There was a rumor that they were coming to Canada, and I was all in. sadly they did not, maybe next year.
I doubt it. Lynx has the pps trademarked since 1980s, and especially in 2010 to today the pps makes the Lynx.
I think I will buy a lynx
This is a great sled.
Really wanna try one out
Soooo we’ve been sold on the coupled r motion skid as best in class for years….?
Now the uncoupled skid is better…? 🤷♂️
In Finland r motion, or mxz in general, has lost every single year to Rave in all sled magazines. It has never been better.
4:00 i know i am a year late, but, i have to write this. if you want a little bit of both, ride hard one day, and family ride another day without setting up the susp. yea well you need to pick the Lynx Xterrain RE then. that´s the right sled for you then.
I still feel the way he does about my 2012 f800 lol
Put a 600 in it and run it in the Iron Dog, put it to the test!
there is a Rave RE E-tec 600R. If you want a more race-focused machine, there is the Rave Enduro E-tec 600R.
I quote Lynx's website, roughly translated into some kind of English
"A specialist in cross-country racing and unforgiving tracks. The winning combination is based on details ready for racing, such as high-quality shock absorption, reinforced chassis and high performance brakes."
@@173tomten I don't think they are in N America yet, or I would have bought one. Great sled and definitely on my list
@@rideswift probably not. Lynx has always built fairly extreme race ready snowmobiles. not always so comfortable on a long trip after the sea ice. But entertaining when you go fast on nasty tracks. 😁
I’m a cat guy but always open to try and ride doo, Yamaha and polaris, and give my honest opinion if your a backcountry rider like me doo/ lynx is decent but my alpha 146 has to be the most playful backcountry sled out there! To be able to go from a power carve/ donut while sitting to a catwalk with zero effort says something to me!Not to hate on the lynx/ doo and polaris 146’s lol
While I want as much fun as the next guy, how many scheckles will I have to shell out to just be able to have this much fun? Will my sweat and tears bring the happiness I so truly deserve at a price that will keep my fun going and going?? Or will I suffer great hardship for this much fun? 😁
Great review but not everyone can't afford to drive a sled like that . That's a 25,000.00 sled all day long . But nice sled over all rich man sled .
I heard the voice. - My 4 year old son said - "Dad, Fozzy ride?" - LMAO... you do sound a bit like Fozzy bear.
This is more like the Axys Pro-X in my mind. The new XCR is way softer than this.
Loved that sled
I still have mine, 7500 miles and crank is done now.
*cough* *cough* Boondocker RE 850 3700, but u don't get it in north america
I believe you now can in the gen 5 platform and in the boost also in a 146 with boost
This ⬆️ ❤️……MY24 G5 flat land 850R 🙏 🙏. To be legit this sled just needs that fourth motor mount and want 10.25” gauge yep yep 👍🏼
I thought a Lynx was an Artic Cat
Artic cat has sled named Lynx. But Lynx snowmobiles is an Finnish snowmobile manufacturer since 1960's.
these are pretty flat trails being shown, which even having groomer marks on the edges!
You call that a rough trail. 😆 🤣 😂 😹
"wE'Re nOT BiAseD!!" If you're not biased you shouldn't have to say so. 😉
K, bud. Finish your coffee and go have your morning dump.
