      I do all the time. Jeanie buss gets high marks for making the lakers a money maker. However, what she said last year and in the past about using her dad’s building a winner blueprint doesn’t hold water. As the pres, she should step down and maybe handle money matters only, while someone else like I don t know JERRY WEST comes in and handles personnel. Kurt and Linda rambis should be trade with pelinka to the house that Magic Johnson is in. Never see West come back though because jeanie is full of hate toward him. The lakers are about to repeat the same mistakes we ve seen for the last 4 years. Jeanie is going to let James have the upper hand and the only thing she sees is $$$$ and delusionally rings. It won t shock me to see her appease James 164 mil for 3 more hamstrung years and waste a top draft pick to get bronny. It’s shameful. He is nowhere close to a top nba talent at all. If the lakers were to blow it up with a good coach a few holdover players and trade smart with West pulling the strings they d be set. He has done it a number of times and people especially newer fans just don t know. West has been successful in everything as a laker only to be banished by the inept jeanie. West won a championship, so many accolades as a player back in the day, led the lakers to the playoffs as coach, told Dr Buss to have Pat Riley be the coach while West scouted players and made decisions as a gm. Had his prints all over the 80’s lakers all the way through to Kobe and Shaq and a ways beyond. That’s a really long time to have success. Unfortunately Jeanie buss shows just exactly what West was talking about when it came to professionalism around the team and she still doesn’t have it nor get it. The only 1 that wins is James and his blind rose colored glasses fans that don t care about the franchise nor its storied history. The James era has detracted from it even with the bubble covid asterisk championship which he and ad have been living off of. 1 ring in 6 years, smh.

    What I’d be looking for:
    1. No drop coverage defense
    2. Good off-ball action and ball movement
    3. Can coach a true center (rebounding, post defense, kick out passing, lob threat)
    4. Screen heavy offense
    5. Proper floor spacing
    6. Coaches principles and IQ over sets and strict game-plan, allowing players the flexibility to make reads
    7. Teaches every player every position
    Imo we’re in the screen offense and man-to-man defense meta. Gotta bump screeners so your ball defenders can stay on ball. Help defense should be able to help and get back to their man. Offensively we can already do everything we need to do with Dlo, AR, Bron and AD. Just need more off-ball action and a playable center.
    I don’t know every coach’s ability so I can’t pick a name. Id pick me but my name isn’t in the running.

    • @Magic32-
      @Magic32- Місяць тому

      Good list, especially #2. Would add the ability to get them to be more physical on both offense and defense - the Lakers play so soft, and other teams come in and push them around. Besides the names with pro head coaching experience, should look into strong assistant candidates and smart successful college coaches.

    Realistically, if the Lakers had hired Lue instead of Vogel. He'd probably already be gone just like Vogel. The Lakers wanted less years because they didn't want to have to end up paying for 2 extra years when he'd no longer be on the team. With the Clippers he at least has stability considering how long they kept Rivers, so job security isn't much of an issue.
    The front office should be more focused on finding a coach that will be able to utilize Davis as the focal point and go from there instead of trying for big names or people formerly linked to James. Especially if they're giving Davis a bigger voice in who to go with during this search.
    Honestly, any coach that takes the position is most likely to face blame first despite deeper issues with the current roster.

From Duncan to Embid to Wemby to AD, he's seen it with offenses that need to be centered around a Big but at the same time have a big who's anchor role on defense may be more important than his buckets. TLR: I think a bit of the "beautiful game" can really maximize the offense we saw post all-star break.

His knowledge of the game is top notch along with his analysis of the game. It's just a disgrace that teams in this day and era keep over looking, this man.

    Missing out on "Personnel" is the story of the Lakers as they have missed out on a number of individuals that either, should have never left the Lakers organization or should have been offered a contract from the Lakers as the Lakers are always a day late and a dollar short which also, means Rob Pelinka must "Go" only because, he's the person who either released or didn't go after certain players and head coaches and as, he has made a ton of mistakes regarding "Personnel"! As the Lakers need someone with a "Basketball" pedigree to run the front office.
