Number one it is best to dig out the complete head so dirt doesn't fall back in when you remove the head. I dig it out in a donut shape. Number two add a 1/2 inch Marlex street L onto the existing L after you've turned the existing L horizontal. 3 put the head back on and simply raise the whole funny pipe assembly up to the proper height. And finally replace the sod turn it on and make final adjustment to the spray pattern. I do sometimes use those Riser extensions and I haven't seen one that I have installed break. I wouldn't want to run it over with a truck though

A Dremel tool with a cutoff wheel? SERIOUSLY?

Why a dremel and not just a pvc cutting tool which will cut this Perfect

LOL. No need to cut out the lawn like that. Just unscrew the head, add the riser and screw back in.

Yeah. Although it’s a lot harder to dig out and keep dirt from going in the line. Really don’t need to cut this much out unless you think a pipe might be broke.

You don't need to dig all that grass to install risers.
