The Acolyte isn't fan fiction, because fan fiction implies it's fiction written by fans. None of these people are fans of Star Wars, or they wouldn't be trying to completely re-write and modify and 'improve for modern audiences' literally every single aspect of the original/prequel story, let alone all the EU stuff they first de-canonized but then realized they had no creative talent and so started cannibalizing for their shows (see: Thrawn for example)

Star wars was my comfort and escape but now I feel like everything I liked about it is being ruined to push other peoples opinions and agendas that I don’t feel benefit or make for a telling and interesting story that fits this fictional universe. I really wanna enjoys these projects but they feel deliberately terrible for the sake of ticking boxes , destroying fan favourite characters and pissing off loyal fans.

The best I can come up with is even after all the years she still loved Leo more than anything and the only meaningful way she could show it within the confines of the story was to send the jewel down to him as tribute. I absolutely agree with your reaction. I remember watching the movie like, "Okay, she's alone, here's where we find out she's had the jewel the whole time, and then she's gonna throw it over the side, because that's the sappiest shit I can think of for her to do." Then it happened and I realized how much I hate being right all the time.
I know they did it for dramatic effect to indicate Rose was finally over the tragedy she experienced in youth but all I could think was how selfish to throw away this multi million dollar jewel when she could give it to her niece to thank her for taking care of her

I had the "visit the headmaster" for stepping between a Trog whom wanted to bash one of my pals after using the "P" word towards him, and the irony was my pal dated gals. It was merely an accusation. But the point was, my pal had a brain he'd bother to use, was a fab drummer, struggled with being on sports teams, wrote very well RE narrative fiction in the English Courses, treated the gals well, was a great lad on the Footy field, was respectful to all his family, did charity work, and didn't need anyone to defend him or "back away", but the Trog was the final straw. So the Trog "lost", but was a rugby hero for the school, so obviously he suffered naught. But after the fracas, people came to respect my pal, not only for his courage and ethics, but also, his love of sci-fi and related genres. Thanks for posting.

That's why I'll always say that Episodes 1 through 6 is the complete saga as it has a definitive beginning beginning, middle and end and the "true" Skywalker saga. Not to mention they were all made under George Lucas' supervision. Because let's be honest, how do episodes 7 through 9 contribute to the Skywalker saga in a meaningful way? Because I can honestly say that bringing back Palpatine effectively retconning the "bringing balance to the force" story of the previous 6 films and ripping away Anakin's achievement, retconning force powers to service the plot of these films when it could've been used in previous films sparing our heroes from making wrong decisions and killing every single Skywalker and Solo in the galaxy so that a Palpatine can be left standing wearing the skin suit name as a Skywalker is not meaningful in the slightest. Not to mention that Disney ONLY inherited Star Wars as a brand while leaving intellectual part of the intellectual property (or IP) of George Lucas to him. These were absolutely not made with George Lucas in mind, given how it's come out that Bob Igar and Kathleen Kennedy lied to him about respecting the characters and disregarding his story template in favor of unoriginal stories that heavily plagiarized the original trilogy. I'm sorry, Disney can keep lying all they want by saying that these new films are part of the Skywalker saga. But the Skywalker saga ended with episode 6. And yeah, George Lucas wanted to make a sequel trilogy. But just as Tolkien abandoned his idea of doing a Lord of the Rings sequel, so too did Lucas also abandoned his idea for the sequel trilogy as he felt that his saga was complete as it was the story of the fall and redemption of Anakin Skywalker. Ergo, THAT'S the Skywalker saga in a nut shell. It's not perfect. But it told a completed story from episodes 1 to 6. Given all of this information, the intentions of the writers and George Lucas' (the creator) overall thoughts on Disney's direction for this franchise, I'm ultimately left with this unfortunate conclusion: Everything we've been watching is not Star Wars. It's Star Wars in name only. But everything that's been done with this franchise has not been to uphold the philosophy and lore of what this universe was built on but rather, made by entitled narcissistic bigots who can do nothing more than twist this franchise into their own wants and desires. Star Wars died as soon as the pen hit the paper when Lucas sold Star Wars to those "white slavers" who could do nothing but destroy that man's creative vision. Tolkien was right: Evil cannot create, only corrupt.

Star wars actually saved my life a long long time ago, id been dignosed with crohns desease back in 2011 and was bed bound for months, in and out of hospital, very ill, getting fed through a tube into my stomach just a horrific time in my life that then led to awful depression through just being so down and poorly, my friend suggested some films and things to keep my mind focused and nothing worked, i got through the whole list of about 10/15 things until i got to starwars, id heard of it but never gave it a shot thinking it wouldnt be for me, the films taught me more about myself than i knew, they taught me life lessons, it wasnt 'just a story' 'just a film' it gave me hope, gave me strength and the will to get up each day even when i diddnt want too, take everyday as it comes, always face your fears, that no matter the odds theres always hope, that good will overcome evil, i related to so many storys and so many parts in the film it gave me what i needed right then to get through what was going on in my own life and from that day on its been my go-to when im having a bad day or just want to sit down after work and go back to MY starwars, it gives us all our own individual expiriences and meanings and thats why i love it. Disney have single handedly taken that away from not just me but millions of people across the world.

When he was making his fan film Vader Ep 1, he let his viewers vote on the theme music, the voice actor playing Vader, and nearly everything else. Guy is also a fan of the source material which could be seen in the finished product. DisneyPlus is hurting for original content people will watch, maybe a show like America's Got Talent or Ninja Warrior where the contestants are competing to be the next Star Wars/Marvel hero and fans are calling in to vote.

And i dont recall there ever being a mention of a problem with peoples sexuality within the star wars universe or anything. Fun fact about Wookiee Jedi. George Lucas insisted throughout production of all 6 movies that there were no Wookiee Jedi. Not because they could not use the Force, but because they would never give their children over to the Order and the last thing a Jedi wanted to do was piss off a whole tribe of Wookiees. In the EU this was changed with the introduction of Chewbacca's nephew in the Young Jedi Knights series. Which George probably let them get away with because it wasn't canon (ie: movies). And then made canon in The Clone Wars with that youngling from the youngling arc.
Star Wars is the perfect reminder to be careful what you wish for and that more can often bring less. When I was a kid, and we only had the original trilogy, we’d wonder at the mystery of what the Clone Wars were like. Or what Anakin. Skywalker was like? Or what made it so someone could tap in to the mystical energy of The Force while others could not. Well, now we know and, honestly, the answers kind of suck. (And those questions were answered by The Man himself!) The further we get from George Lucas, the worse it gets in expanding upon Star Wars lore. I’d like to now go back to my 9 year old self and say, “be happy with the OT, because you’re going to get what you ask for in the future…and it blows!”

I remember being made fun of in 6th grade for loving X-Men Animated by a girl who was or became a lesbian. In class I was writing out the X-Men I loved from the show, which ones I wanted to see in future episodes, etc, and she pulled the notebook from from my desk while it was in my hands, held it out for the class and told everyone what it was, as if it was something horrible and tried to shame me, which didn't work. I never judged her, but she did me. That's what it was like being a "nerd" back in the day, there was nothing considered socially lower.

There was this internet meme I saw years ago. It’s a comic style page. People in a small space enjoying something, group of people on the outside seeing they are having fun and wants in. Small group wanting to share lets them in. New people say it’s too crowded and kick out original group. Original group sees overcrowded room from the outside and it no longer looks like how it used to. This is all representative of all the things that had smaller fan followings. People knew all the lore and stories, various possibilities. But then all the new people that want to leave their mark because it’s popular while trampling all over what made it what it was.
It's sad to see my favourite franchise getting butchered by these absolute clowns. It's disgusting. I don't understand why they feel the need to alienate the entire fan base. Just tell good stories. Star Wars has always had diversity and strong female characters, Leia and Padme. For me, these projects are as legitimate as fan films, and the only good thing to come from Disney Star Wars, was seeing Hayden and Ewan reprise their roles despite the show being below average. Cinema is dead.

Holy Molly brother Mouzone rocks man one of the best characters of the Wire and he only gets like less than 20min in screen. Jedi as Mouzone will be an instant badass, although what they tried with Ray Stevenson's character, a renegade Jedi that would be perfect for Mouzone.
What's wierd is that the Prequels make it explicit that the Jedi Order's rules and viewpoints remained stagnant for over a millennium. As Theory pointed out, the Acolyte tries to portray them as being different than what we've seen so far.

Still equal. But different. Obviously any bell curve means outliers, and a small percentage of women will always prefer blood-soaked violent revenge fantasies, just like a a small percentage of men will like gay vampire fantasy and upstairs-downstairs social class romances. But by and large, we all just understood that men and women were different. Now nobody is allowed to notice anything that was obvious ten minutes ago. Men and women can't be different anymore because every person must be born as a blank slate with a spectrum of possibilities, their genes and gender undeterminate of the people they're going to be. Masculinity is toxic, unless it's embodied in girlbosses, in which case it's celebrated. Our entertainment is now social engineering -- an attempt by the elites governing our entertainment to convince us that everything we believe is a patriarchal lie. And it fails, of course, over and over again, because it's nakedly and obviously dishonest. because it's proscriptive entertainment meant to turn you into the kind of person who SHOULD exist, rather than entertainment for the person you are. Stop saying you just want good stories. Stop using their frame. Stop saying that if we just had gay vampire romance stories in our Star Wars that was GOOD we'd be happy. Star Wars is a historically male-focused entertainment catering to male values, and it isn't any longer, and it's alright to notice. It's alright to want a male protagonist on a mission of revenge. I'm late to the party with this, but on the topic of Captain America, there have been at least 3 main or stand-out replacement Captain Americas in the comics. I'm not 100% up to date with all of the comic lore since Earth-616 (the main Marvel comic continuity) is like 80 or so years old in real-time, spanning from around the 1940s with the Captain America comics released during WWII, all the way to the present, but they are: - *John Walker:* I'm not too familiar with this character, I mainly know him as US Agent from some of the Avengers West Coast comics I've read (US Agent was the identity he took on after his time as Captain America). He took on the Cap' role in 1987. - *Bucky/Winter Soldier:* After being Captain America's child sidekick during WWII (yep, that was a thing), and after his time as the Winter Soldier, Bucky took on the Cap' role after Steve Rogers died during the first Civil War storyline in 2006. - *Sam Wilson/Falcon:* I don't know too much about how he got the role, but I think Steve Rogers might have died again (because, y'know, "comic book death"), which led to Sam taking on the role in 2014. Since then, Sam has kinda been the main Captain America in the comics... though, I think Steve is alive again and has been running around doing his own thing concurrently (I haven't read too many "newer" comics, so don't know all the ins and outs of this). *Tl;dr:* Steve Rogers died a few times, and got three main replacements in the comics (John Walker, Bucky, and Sam Wilson).

None of these people are fans of Star Wars, or they wouldn't be trying to completely re-write and modify and 'improve for modern audiences' literally every single aspect of the original/prequel story, let alone all the EU stuff they first de-canonized but then realized they had no creative talent and so started cannibalizing for their shows (see: Thrawn for example)

Star wars was my comfort and escape but now I feel like everything I liked about it is being ruined to push other peoples opinions and agendas that I don’t feel benefit or make for a telling and interesting story that fits this fictional universe. Then it happened and I realized how much I hate being right all the time.

The original TCW pitch he made to George made her Kenobi apprentice, which George shut down to keep Anakin’s legacy. He was always a wolf in sheep’s clothing. That's why I'll always say that Episodes 1 through 6 is the complete saga as it has a definitive beginning beginning, middle and end and the "true" Skywalker saga. Not to mention they were all made under George Lucas' supervision. Because let's be honest, how do episodes 7 through 9 contribute to the Skywalker saga in a meaningful way? Because I can honestly say that bringing back Palpatine effectively retconning the "bringing balance to the force" story of the previous 6 films and ripping away Anakin's achievement, retconning force powers to service the plot of these films when it could've been used in previous films sparing our heroes from making wrong decisions and killing every single Skywalker and Solo in the galaxy so that a Palpatine can be left standing wearing the skin suit name as a Skywalker is not meaningful in the slightest. Not to mention that Disney ONLY inherited Star Wars as a brand while leaving intellectual part of the intellectual property (or IP) of George Lucas to him. These were absolutely not made with George Lucas in mind, given how it's come out that Bob Igar and Kathleen Kennedy lied to him about respecting the characters and disregarding his story template in favor of unoriginal stories that heavily plagiarized the original trilogy. I'm sorry, Disney can keep lying all they want by saying that these new films are part of the Skywalker saga. But the Skywalker saga ended with episode 6. And yeah, George Lucas wanted to make a sequel trilogy. But just as Tolkien abandoned his idea of doing a Lord of the Rings sequel, so too did Lucas also abandoned his idea for the sequel trilogy as he felt that his saga was complete as it was the story of the fall and redemption of Anakin Skywalker. Ergo, THAT'S the Skywalker saga in a nut shell. It's not perfect. But it told a completed story from episodes 1 to 6.
Given all of this information, the intentions of the writers and George Lucas' (the creator) overall thoughts on Disney's direction for this franchise, I'm ultimately left with this unfortunate conclusion: Everything we've been watching is not Star Wars. It's Star Wars in name only. But everything that's been done with this franchise has not been to uphold the philosophy and lore of what this universe was built on but rather, made by entitled narcissistic bigots who can do nothing more than twist this franchise into their own wants and desires. Star Wars died as soon as the pen hit the paper when Lucas sold Star Wars to those "white slavers" who could do nothing but destroy that man's creative vision. Tolkien was right: Evil cannot create, only corrupt.

Star wars actually saved my life a long long time ago, id been dignosed with crohns desease back in 2011 and was bed bound for months, in and out of hospital, very ill, getting fed through a tube into my stomach just a horrific time in my life that then led to awful depression through just being so down and poorly, my friend suggested some films and things to keep my mind focused and nothing worked, i got through the whole list of about 10/15 things until i got to starwars, id heard of it but never gave it a shot thinking it wouldnt be for me, the films taught me more about myself than i knew, they taught me life lessons, it wasnt 'just a story' 'just a film' it gave me hope, gave me strength and the will to get up each day even when i diddnt want too, take everyday as it comes, always face your fears, that no matter the odds theres always hope, that good will overcome evil, i related to so many storys and so many parts in the film it gave me what i needed right then to get through what was going on in my own life and from that day on its been my go-to when im having a bad day or just want to sit down after work and go back to MY starwars, it gives us all our own individual expiriences and meanings and thats why i love it. Disney have single handedly taken that away from not just me but millions of people across the world.
FYI....old Rose tossed more than 350 mil off the stern of that ship. It was stated in the movie that it was worth more than The Hope Diamond.

The thing about fan fiction is you should start by actually being a fan. None of the people making Star Wars have anything but a Wikipedia level understanding of the subject.
We live in a very decadent naive ignorant Western society. In the East is half uncivilized backwards culture, an now we brought in all these "migrants" our society is sliding into a 2nd world country.
Only way to save these franchises (Star Wars, LOTR, Marvel) is to learn from guys like Star Wars Theory. When he was making his fan film Vader Ep 1, he let his viewers vote on the theme music, the voice actor playing Vader, and nearly everything else. Guy is also a fan of the source material which could be seen in the finished product.
DisneyPlus is hurting for original content people will watch, maybe a show like America's Got Talent or Ninja Warrior where the contestants are competing to be the next Star Wars/Marvel hero and fans are calling in to vote.

Fun fact about Wookiee Jedi. George Lucas insisted throughout production of all 6 movies that there were no Wookiee Jedi. Not because they could not use the Force, but because they would never give their children over to the Order and the last thing a Jedi wanted to do was piss off a whole tribe of Wookiees.
In the EU this was changed with the introduction of Chewbacca's nephew in the Young Jedi Knights series. Which George probably let them get away with because it wasn't canon (ie: movies). And then made canon in The Clone Wars with that youngling from the youngling arc.
Star Wars is the perfect reminder to be careful what you wish for and that more can often bring less.

I remember being made fun of in 6th grade for loving X-Men Animated by a girl who was or became a lesbian. In class I was writing out the X-Men I loved from the show, which ones I wanted to see in future episodes, etc, and she pulled the notebook from from my desk while it was in my hands, held it out for the class and told everyone what it was, as if it was something horrible and tried to shame me, which didn't work. I never judged her, but she did me. That's what it was like being a "nerd" back in the day, there was nothing considered socially lower.

There was this internet meme I saw years ago. It’s a comic style page. People in a small space enjoying something, group of people on the outside seeing they are having fun and wants in. Small group wanting to share lets them in. New people say it’s too crowded and kick out original group. Original group sees overcrowded room from the outside and it no longer looks like how it used to.
This is all representative of all the things that had smaller fan followings. People knew all the lore and stories, various possibilities. But then all the new people that want to leave their mark because it’s popular while trampling all over what made it what it was.

Modern day Star Wars has been overtaken by people who dont care about it and just want a platform for their social and political issues. We don’t care. Just tell a good story not lecture and degrade your core fanbase.

I disagree.
Up until very, very recently, it was uncontroversial to be aware that men and women are physically, chemically, psychologically and biologically different. Still equal. But different.
Obviously any bell curve means outliers, and a small percentage of women will always prefer blood-soaked violent revenge fantasies, just like a a small percentage of men will like gay vampire fantasy and upstairs-downstairs social class romances. But by and large, we all just understood that men and women were different.
Now nobody is allowed to notice anything that was obvious ten minutes ago. Men and women can't be different anymore because every person must be born as a blank slate with a spectrum of possibilities, their genes and gender undeterminate of the people they're going to be. Masculinity is toxic, unless it's embodied in girlbosses, in which case it's celebrated.
Our entertainment is now social engineering -- an attempt by the elites governing our entertainment to convince us that everything we believe is a patriarchal lie. And it fails, of course, over and over again, because it's nakedly and obviously dishonest. because it's proscriptive entertainment meant to turn you into the kind of person who SHOULD exist, rather than entertainment for the person you are.
Stop saying you just want good stories. Stop using their frame. Stop saying that if we just had gay vampire romance stories in our Star Wars that was GOOD we'd be happy. Star Wars is a historically male-focused entertainment catering to male values, and it isn't any longer, and it's alright to notice. It's alright to want a male protagonist on a mission of revenge. It's alright to be a straight guy who wants to stop being ignored by entertainment.
Not everything needs to be catered to upper middle class white liberal females. Our schooling, our tech, our government, our entertainment -- we used to be allowed to have different flavors in our ice cream.
We don't just want good story. We want male stories. We used to have them until ten minutes ago. It didn't used to be a thoughtcrime to notice that.

I'm late to the party with this, but on the topic of Captain America, there have been at least 3 main or stand-out replacement Captain Americas in the comics. I'm not 100% up to date with all of the comic lore since Earth-616 (the main Marvel comic continuity) is like 80 or so years old in real-time, spanning from around the 1940s with the Captain America comics released during WWII, all the way to the present, but they are:
- *John Walker:* I'm not too familiar with this character, I mainly know him as US Agent from some of the Avengers West Coast comics I've read (US Agent was the identity he took on after his time as Captain America). He took on the Cap' role in 1987.
- *Bucky/Winter Soldier:* After being Captain America's child sidekick during WWII (yep, that was a thing), and after his time as the Winter Soldier, Bucky took on the Cap' role after Steve Rogers died during the first Civil War storyline in 2006.
- *Sam Wilson/Falcon:* I don't know too much about how he got the role, but I think Steve Rogers might have died again (because, y'know, "comic book death"), which led to Sam taking on the role in 2014. Since then, Sam has kinda been the main Captain America in the comics... though, I think Steve is alive again and has been running around doing his own thing concurrently (I haven't read too many "newer" comics, so don't know all the ins and outs of this).
*Tl;dr:*
Steve Rogers died a few times, and got three main replacements in the comics (John Walker, Bucky, and Sam Wilson).

That is a line I heard as a kid so many times. As someone who wasn't a nerd wasnt cool and just liked playing cricket. I had my own niche. Grew into the nerd culture I did. So to hear the same kids that only liked a thing because it is popular bash the people that paved the way for their golden road just makes me laugh. Why anyone listened to them IS the joke. Disney deserve what they get. And the people defending them are like lemmings. Not actual lemmings mind you. Just the ones Disney literally pushed of a mountain to make a film.
