I'm just going to go for the standard build on this one. I want to outfit it myself. I want stellar on the last three that I purchased. The Mandalay by far is my favorite ship. It's just too fun to fly along with a beautiful canopy.
I don't like the front fins at all either. I don't understand how they haven't taken out a beak-shaped front bumper, the style of the Corvette kitt. In my opinion I would give a more aggressive line, to the stills of the U.S.A. spy plane, greetings Ricardo.
Definitely getting the Stellar Build for this one.jumping out the gate with A-Rated Modules on a fresh save? But yeah. Honestly unless they add a different ship kit for it Not going to be using the front spoiler fin thingmabob. MIdnight Black...when it comes out and the Victor voice pack Also thanks for confirming the Arx Prices, I appreciate it man!
For a small ship it has more optional internals than the new medium ships. That's like buying a small apartment with more rooms, lounge and amenities than a small house. Size is illogical
Thats not really true The Type-8 obviously has more internals so I’m gonna gloss over that The Mandalay is missing a C4 and a C3 while gaining a C1 and having an extra hardpoint The Python MK2 is short a C5, 2 C4s and 2 C3s but gains 4 large hardpoints and 2 utility mounts (though it does lose a medium and the 2 smalls) Oh and the latter 2 also have a C6 slot, which more then makes up for the missing slots because of the way optionals work in this game. Every size up doubles in size, so a C6 is equal to 2 C5s, 4 C4s, 8 C3s and so on. Raw count just gives flexibility which since this is a multirole ship, tracks.
Been flying since 3303, the Mk III was my first ship after the Sidewinder. The Mk V is really attractive. Been popping bugs in the pre-built AX Krait. That ship is not too bad, either. I threw in some of my own tweaks weapons wise and did some further engineering, but it's not terrible.
The problem with the stellar build is you can't store the modules. I bought the stellar mandy and a lot of the modules got thrown away because you can't switch up the build unless you sell the free modules.
Purchasing a pre-built ship also provides access to purchasing the ship in the game. I will go with Stellar as I plan on engineering an A-rated core version. For anything else as in fastest speed or highest jump range I'll buy another one with credits. Most standard ship kits including the Cobra Mk III have 16 pieces versus only 8 in the video beta test version. Perhaps when released tomorrow we'll get two more better looking bumpers. Also the Cobra Mk III has 6 different ship kits which in time might be updated for the Mk V........UPDATE: I guessed wrong as the kit has only 8 pieces. The Cobra Mk III is awesome for going to Frontline on-foot combat zones with Scorpion SRVs. Also Odyssey surface salvage missions using missiles to take out enemy on-foot NPCs. It is going to get a lot better with the Mk V.
I got the Stellar variants of all the 3 previous ships, but I will only pay for the Standard Cobra Mk. V for compound reasons: I have just built 2 new fast errand runners in the past weeks and I don't really know what I will be using the new Cobra, and frankly I don't like the new shipkit. I figured based on the schedule Fdev introduced to us, we will get a new ship kit in the near future - maybe I will purchase that :)
Honestly if you have the modules or have the credits then you're better off getting the standard and getting the modules. You're really just paying for a ship kit and a cheaper rebuy
As long as there are whales willing to throw cash, I'm thankful they keep the servers running. Not everyone needs to be able to afford every new gadget.
Yeah, front fenders look ridiculous. There are other kits with similar bumpers, blows my mind that anyone would think this looks good. But hey.. To each their own I suppose. Like others have said, the standard "kit" looks fantastic and I'll probably keep it looking just like it does; I even fancy that blue color tbh. Other than that, it looks mint and I can't wait to have a small-sized ship to use again.
QQ, if you engineer up the parts that come with the Stellar build and then die does your 0 rebuy have those engineered weapons when you get it back or do you have to re-engineer everything?
Standard. I have much better modules than those Stellar ones in my current ship (Cobra Mk III) to swap over, except power distributor. And I have no use for that paint job or that ghastly ship kit. Insurance excess (‘rebuy’) is of little concern.
Maybe it's just me, but I just don't have a use for this in my fleet. Everything it does, save landing on a small pad, I have a ship that can do the job better.
It doesnt offer enough to justify real dollers. The cowardly speed is neat, but doesnt have the oomph. I love SCO, but I also appreciate being able to take care of small thing IRL during space travel. So it's a no $ for me. If the later body kits are fire and they dont milk shotty skins before dropping good ones; Ill buy those.
I want the Stellar but I don't want those awful front fins to stare me down every time I open the shipyard menu. If your listening frontier take them off.
You can decide which parts of the kit you use yourself. Select either rear, wings, or front one by one, whichever you like or don’t like. You don’t have to use the entire kit all at once.
And if you have never played elite and you buy all these pre built ships . time to go hunting in the newbie zone with these new ships. no cost ready waiting at the station. if you ask me they are just giving us all these eye candy ships , where is the Panther Clipper???
I can understand how that of a "NOOB" whould desire the "STELLER", but any one having a couple of thousand hour's or more. Which though still come's with a price to pay at the rebuy, is still considerbaly less if and when the SHIP is self isn't included in the equation. Never buy a Stellar ship of any model. The modules that come with any steller build cannot be stored, nor can they be transfered to another ship. In other words, the modules are a waste of REAL money. Instead, build you own, even if you outfit exactly what comes with the stellar build. It makes no sense to pay real money to get a stellar build and then not be able to store the modules when you decide to change something. At the very least, one would think you could store the stellar build modules and be restricted to reinstalling them onto the stellar ship, but no you cannot even do that. All you can do is sell them if you choose to change the modules on your stellar ship. Absolutely ridiculous.

Tha is a down side
Standard all the way. That dark blue is amazing. Much prefer plain skins to fancy ones. Half the fun is building and engineering your ship.
Purchasing a pre-built ship also provides access to purchasing the ship in the game. I will go with Stellar as I plan on engineering an A-rated core version. For anything else as in fastest speed or highest jump range I'll buy another one with credits.

i would love the front wings more if it had forward swiped wings in the front instead, kinda like what you would see on a YT 1300 series
i have no need for a small ship personally it would just be a another vessel for my fleet

None of the three new ships have chrome, chromed, gold or golden paintjobs. Don't go expecting the Cobra mkV to have them either.
As long as I can paint it blue to match the rest of my fleet I will be ok with it 😅
I'm going to get it and try and make a exploration cobra. But I do feel that 35000 ark's for the pre built version is far to overpriced

@RicardosGaming Aww, damn.. but honestly, I think we will expected this 😁 lol thanks for the update
I have all my parts for it engineered already!
Just need the ship!
Which one will I buy ? .... YES , GIMME ! 😂
Any idea what time on the 10th this will be out? Such as midnight U.K. time, etc.?
Thursday 12th now
I've got the Mk IV - it's not great. I tend to get it out once a year for a bit of fun, but it then ends up back in the hanger as a bit of hanger art!

Yes it will keep everything that you engineer at least it does so on my Mandalay
@@baykazdal Thanks, good to know. Think I might just go with the basic though and buy a paint job, no that keen on the ship kit that comes with.

What happens when you engineer your pre-build equipment and the ship gets destroyed, does it redeploy the engineered or the stock?
You get engineered back. Beware though that you cannot store prebuilt components. Very inconvenient when trying different builds.

The only reason to ever go for the Stelar build is for the cosmetics, the modules are a joke and its super easy to get money these days.
Those bumper wings are the 1st thing I'm stripping off. No sir, I don't like them a bit.
Agreed
