Sean, Isn't the point of your homestead about the satisfaction you get from creating your own space over time? You know from your experience how much effort and how much time it will take to develop. Do you know, I think you would really enjoy having that whole space to yourself. Yes, it will take time and effort, but the peace you would find would compensate well. Yes, mowing the grass, flower beds.. and fruit, a fire-pit or even a little wood stove and a cot in the summer house! and your vegetable garden. Time enough next year to think on that if it comes available. It shows your commitment to your new home and the people there. Plus it puts the farmers mind to rest knowing who is going to be on and working the land
As a widower with no family I'm acutely aware that when I die it will be strangers going through my stuff. Having had to clear my husband's stuff I wouldn't wish that on another person so I'm slowly getting rid of everything. I sell some things, donate some and gift to friends. I've found a good way to get rid of some things is to ask myself if I can get the item again if i need it. If the answer is yes then out it goes. Ive reduced my book collection from 1000+ to 100 or so! ❤
Hi Sean, I now only eat between 10 am & 6 pm. 2 meals a day with one of the meals being a good hearty one. I limit snacks to fruit/ yoghurt/nuts. I’ve felt so much better for it and sleep better. Plus the added bonus of losing a few pounds. The de-caf tea in the evening will also help with sleep. Yorkshire de-caf is much nicer than other brands.
I do time restricted eating, too - between 10am and 4pm, a 6 hour window with plenty of time to digest it all before bedtime. I cut out all ultra processed foods, wheat/glutin, seed oils, like sunflower oil, and all sugars. I now only eat real food. Mostly meat, fish, eggs, dairy and a few berries. I lost 2.5 stones (35lbs, almost 16kgs) in four months. I feel fab! My BMI went from 29.6 to 23.8, too! Even my doctor's impressed.
Dear Sean, In the time i have watched your Living Alone in Wales i have been influenced by many of your ways. Gardening is one. Something i took from you about gardening was to only clear the patch i need to plant in - not the whole land. I love this tip. It makes me feel that i am living gently and organically. I love your influence. Thankyou ❤❤

I understand what you are doing with the homestead but think people nowadays want everything perfect straightaway and would rather get in debt to do that. My garden is tiny and it has taken me 6 years just to plan and plant mine, mostly pots. I bought a plastic bird bath and bought a solar fountain and it's lovely to hear the water xx
Hi Sean, keep what makes you happy. Swedish death cleaning is about thinning out. We collect so much dross. But, you keep what makes you happy. I would never get rid of my Harry Dobson books.😊
You have to include the bit from a few weeks ago when you got the magnet board in by taking off the roof, if you look at the comments you’ll see how we all loved it
I really don't know what the hurry is with people about the allotment site. Take your time and enjoy the process. I'm glad you made reference to the plan. (What the heck is a quince 😳) If you have the space just keep your books. I normally eat at 7 pm but I'm okay with any time you will be serving 😋 You two please be careful and pace yourself with that summerhouse build. Work smarter, not harder, is what I do!

Good morning Sean . There is nothing wrong with lazy days because I get them often 😁 and what I can't do today is always tomorrow. I am also in the middle of sorting things that I do not want but most of them will be going to the charity shop. And after all that I have a nice cup of tea ☕🫖😁. Wishing you a great day.
I only eat a cooked lunch, as I only go out to walk Madge, so am not expelling much energy. Sometimes I will have a sandwich in the evening around 6.00pm, but more often than not I do not have anything else except my lunch. I can not afford to buy more food now, and I find it is enough for me. xxx
Sean, I have been on vacation, visiting my daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter. I have missed your videos. Today, I am catching up. There are several funny highlights, as I laugh when I think of you vacuuming your living room and the white magnetic board being placed inside the shed. You missed your calling, as you could have been a comedic actor or a comedian. All the best with your allotment, I am looking forward to seeing the summer house. I know you will enjoy spending time there. Love from Mississippi! ❤
Oh Sean, I was going to say, you could wash out the empty milk cartons and lids with warm soapy water and rinse well, then put fresh water in them for your tea in the shed and soon to be summer house. You could put several in your wagon (cart) and pull them to your allotment and store under the table. We actually buy water in gallon milk cartons in the U.S. You may need water to wash your hands and would have it. 😊
When l moved my friend was very helpful but was ruthless in getting rid of stuff. We gave away all the Dr Hessayon and Geoff Hamilton gardening books. But, since moving, I've gradually bought them all back again from charity shops 😂. I was a huge Geoff Hamilton fan and l miss his make do and men attitude to gardening. I can't see Monty with a ballcock atop his obelisk 😂
Regarding your books. There are a few things you can do like take a photo of the cover of each book that is special. You could then make a calendar from the photos, cards or a book on the books etc 😂 or just have a folder in your computer on Gardening Books I’ve Loved. You don’t need the physical book to have the memories attached to them, just the prompt. I love Quince season and my little tree provides a bounty. Quince paste, jelly and a conserve from the fruit pieces left after the jelly.
You are very lucky being gifted quince, they are delicious...if you add a little finely chopped to an apple pie it suffuses the whole thing with its special taste and perfume. The plant you could smell was Nepeta , commonly known as catmint, plant it in a sunny position and watch Topsy and Amber have fun with it, my cats ( I have 9) roll in it ,eat it and do a little dance on it, it drives them potty 😂😻 You mentioned that you were concerned that the cats could jump up on to the wall and thence onto the road, could you put up some trellis on top of the wall and grow some clematis and climbing roses upon it ? Don't get rid of your books Sean I think you will regret it, I have literally thousands of books and keep buying more from charity shops...it wouldn't be home without them.
Good morning Sean, I'm glad the raspberry I sent is producing, I think you could probably take a couple of small cuttings now to increase the stock across the back garden. 😊 Lovely videos, ❤ Sandra. Rhyl 🎉
I power washed the back patio and I am ready for next year manure in beds ready two more rised beds put in let’s hope we get a good year to grow my veg
I'm afraid gardening books would be the last things I would get rid of. You must have many other things less important you can discard first. I have a gardening encyclopedia I received at the age of 12 and I'm 75 now. Good luck with the summer house this week. I know it will be beautiful and really expand your ability to enjoy your allotment. All the best from HTX
Hi James, reset your body clock by getting up 30 minutes before you normally would. Then go to bed at a time 8 hours before you want to wake up. It may take 1-3 times of doing this but it works. Also you can’t catch up on sleep in 1 day. It normally takes a few days. Take care 👍
Sean, I always check my raspberries because I found a wiggle worm in a good few of them. My Grandchildren all know to check before putting in our basket and if there is a worm into we it back for them to eat 👍😉🇨🇮☘️Eire
Sean if you enjoy your books keep them in your bookcase they have memories you treasure. When you pass those who are charged with cleaning up won’t take long to get them out. It is nice to have things around you like they are like old friends. Thanks for your blog it’s great sharing your life 😊
Good morning Sean, Interesting video about the quince,I've only ever heard of it from the owl and the pussycat poem by Edward Lear! It looks similar to a pear but I imagine it has quite a different taste. The highlights that come to my mind straight away are you moving your chest of drawers upstairs and the beautiful sunrise and wave watching in Tenby 🥰 Take care Sean 💜
Mum made quince jam and a sweet. Boil the heck out of it until it's like a paste, think it has sugar too, spread it into a tray, leave to set then cut into small diamonds, I'd rather eat cardboard.
I was brought up in a very middle class background, and we always had breakfast lunch and dinner.. tea was a cup of tea and a snack around 5/6 pm.. we ate at 7.30 pm to 8 pm all through my childhoodeven when very young... I know people that have their dinner called tea at 5.30 -6 pm ... that always seemed alien to me but each to their own... and now my own family also has dinner later and since my three chijdren were also young, as I have carried on what I was always used too and it works well 🙂.. and I make elderberry syrup for my family for winter as it's a great flu buster... I pick mine on walks with my dogs but I now have a black lace elderberry too in my garden 🙂
Great Vlog, one of my fave highlights and its hard to pick is when you were looking for the daffodils on the mountain. I like all the vlogs and woul dbe happy to watch the highlights chosen.
My favorite videos are your kitchen chats. You have a great sense of humor. I think it would be nice to have a section in your reflection video of some of that. Don’t forget the “ wonder women” in front of the fridge. 😂
Keep your books Sean. As soon as you get rid of them you will want some information in them. Well read books also make a home like they are part of the person/persons who live there. As to the homestead etc any comments I make are always well meant as constructive suggestions . Some of your viewers do have experience in managing land and are just trying to help you. I am curious to see what it will look like in the summer. Good luck Sean.
Maybe in the run up to Christmas you could do the top 10 Sean funniest moments. We could all vote on our favourite. I can think of a few straight away.
I found that leaving 16 hours between the last meal of the day and first meal of the next day very beneficial. It allows the pancreas to have have a break from digesting and get on with the other things it's supposed to do but often doesn't because people don't have a long enough period of not eating. This promotes insulin resistance which is not good. As others have found , 2 meals a day seem to work for me. It doesn't matter if they amount to the same calories as your usual 3 meals a day
Nice relaxed video today - One highlight was when you wrapped that 3 coloured scarf around you that I'd knitted and sent in the post 😂 way back in the spring
My neighbor has a beautiful yard/garden. He said it took him 10 years to get it that way. People want things done now, now, now anymore. The pleasure is in the journey too. You do you Sean. Have a great week with your friend that's coming. 😊
Surely the fun of having an allotment is taking your time and making it your own, not rushing it, getting the other part would be a bonus, if you do a yearly review, please put in all comedy moments, hope you have a lovely Sunday Sean and kitty cats
If you want to revive your carrots, you can place them in ice water after they are peeled, for about an hour and that will do the trick. I use this method with lettuce too. And regarding your home garden, you might try suspending a piece of tin between the wall and your house eaves and build a rustic set of shelves beneath, perhaps of cedar or even pallet wood (it’s free). It will provide shelter for the cats and a place to keep some of your garden tools etc. so they’re out of the rain. Your imagination and time are your only limitations.
Nice tour of the garden the violas that are flowering might be getting more light. I have planters down the side of the house. The hubby made them out of our old wooden pine bed they have plastic trough inserts. I noticed today that the primulas had started flowering I've also got some pansies, violas and cyclamen in. Infact the pots look better than they did in summer 😂😂
Ref xmas....making x puddings with Mam and slipping a silver sixpence in each one...the anticipation of who would be lucky enough to find a silver sixpence was wonderful ❤... Receiving xmas cards another and buying special presents for mam and da anothet...

I try and stop eating before 7 pm but as I am a night person so sometimes that isn't realistic. If it's late I usually just snack. As for sleep, I take a couple tablespoons of liquid calcium+magnesium. I noticed it really calms my muscles, joints, and nerves. The Fitbit shows i sleep longer when i take it.
Have to say never heard of quince, except from The Owl and the Pussycat, looks delicious, what is it and what does it taste like, and could you use it eg quince crumble ???
The planning and doing in some ways is even better than the having, it depends what motivates us if you just want to have a garden that's fine, if you enjoy gardening then why rush just enjoy the process. I have a loads of garden books and I can't get rid of them lol I will move some to the shed when I put that up though, and hopefully read them more.
I've had a rosemary grow to 5 feet tall, in zone 8A, so the cats could get under one. Sadly a really cold winter killed it, but I'm trying one in a more protected area that hopefully will make it through harsh winters. ❤❤❤❤❤
As eating goes, I eat in day light. Breakfasr, eat when Im up. If sun isnt up, I delay till it comes out. I have lunch if hungry. Dinner is at 4pm to 430p. Eating dinner early, improved digestion, Dr Bos talks about this.
Starting to eat at 3 is a great idea is you end it at 7 or 8. That is intermittent fasting. You can make the eating time any hours that suit you, and the deal is don’t eat otherwise. It can be 5, 6, 7 or 8 hours. I found this freeing and easy.
Hi Sean, with your gardening books you have collected over the years- why don't you create a ",book nook" in your summer house and when folk stop by for a "cuppa tea" if they spot a book they may find intersting you can loan or pass it on to them So you will still have them to hand " just in case" , take care Kate, Dartmoor, Devon
Elder flower trees grow like weeds in abundance near a river near me...check out your river bank and the woods near where you live I bet you will find one grwoing in the wild that you could harvest a few berries/flowers from...
What about starting with books you want to keep, you will probably find you won't get rid of hardly any. 😂I usually eat between 6 and 7for my last meal in the evening and don't eat after 8.00 pm.
That’s my tea sorted sausage n mash with the cabbage I’ve got left 👍🏻I like that you are not a snob Sean, yes it would be so easy for someone to do it all for you but for those of us with no money,it’s inspiring what can be done with little money,it’s how we grew up,I don’t remember anyone paying for fancy fencing,we found it or swapped stuff, don’t change 😊
Would be nice now to start thinking of getting your slow cooker out, as it would be nice and easy to prep some cowl/stew etc in the evening before going to bed then putting it in slow cooker on slow in the morning, then it would be ready for later on in the day/evening. 🍛 😋🐈⬛🐈⬛ 💐
Please include when you fell over on the mountain because you missed seeing a Fairy Door in the tree so perhaps the naughty imps made you fall and when you and the one with the owls 😀
When my nieces and nephews are doing my death clean, they'll need to be careful about my gardening books. I might come back to haunt them if they show disrespect to the collection... ;)
Hi Sean years ago I collected elderberries an an found a recipe in a library book for elderberry Rob like a cordial I made it but made a big mistake of putting it in ordinary pop bottles so what happened one night while in bed there was a big explosion hit were the bottles of elderberry Rob ❤
I take my egg shells. Clean them with water, let them dry. I grind my own coffee Beans. With the egg shells and the coffee is less better as a nice rich full taste.
Lovely vlog has always yr homestead will be grand when you get it all set up a bonded gravel path will be fantastic and quick to do goid luck tc now the oldies x👍🤞
Nice relaxing video. You are a kind man thinking about your cats'needs and what they like to do in the garden. Not easy trying to get rid of stuff but makes life so much easier with not a lot of clutter.
I would grab the other plot. Mow it, plant cover crops you can till in later. Possibly fruit trees at far end but that's it. Other option...fence and let chickens clean it up. There is a shed there for a coop.Either idea allows for concentration and completion of the current plot.
Yes I get that. A haven of tranquility where you can be yourself. What is this Shark's Fin melon all about then? Something that grows well and smothers weeds? I must investigate.
Do I recall you saying there is a local community garden group? / Allotment club? Could they benefit from your books? Then if you need to refer back to them, you & everyone else can, & also benefit from the wisdom.
Regarding food i eat when im hungry, anytime i think its about your own body needs not the way you was told to do it by others, you only here a short ,time do what ya want when ya want .
Bear in mind, even though you have ordered your Xmas food, it will still be only what they have in on the day, I got caught out like that thinking they would keep it in advance.x😊
I can understand what you are saying. When you have know one that are hands on with things in the house or gardening then it’s very expensive . Ask around. There must be someone knows of someone that’s reasonable in there price. That could help you for just one day to clear the wood and rubbish and place in a spot where you know you want use . And cut the grass and nettles. You could see then what you have to work with . It would be definitely less stressful for you . And only one cup of ☕️ for him a day and lots for you 😂😂❤
Your sleepless night sounds very much like sleep apnea to me. Please don't forget to get checked. A cpap machine is life changing for those who need it.
It's best to eat before 7pm ,I know that can be hard when your self employed because you can loose track of time. Also try and go for gentle walk for 15 minutes or more After tea it will aid digestion, lower blood sugar, and reduce the risk of heart disease and helps increased circulation .

I have a gardening encyclopedia I received at the age of 12 and I'm 75 now. Good luck with the summer house this week. I know it will be beautiful and really expand your ability to enjoy your allotment. All the best from HTX
I also have started clearing my stuff. I don't think of it as throwing it out, I class it has passing it on.
Hi James, reset your body clock by getting up 30 minutes before you normally would. Then go to bed at a time 8 hours before you want to wake up. It may take 1-3 times of doing this but it works. Also you can’t catch up on sleep in 1 day. It normally takes a few days. Take care 👍
Went to sleep at 10pm last night and didn't wake up until 9am. Am hoping to get back to my 5am wake up call, feel far more awake at that time.
Thanks for your blog it’s great sharing your life 😊
Good morning Sean,
Interesting video about the quince,I've only ever heard of it from the owl and the pussycat poem by Edward Lear! It looks similar to a pear but I imagine it has quite a different taste.
The highlights that come to my mind straight away are you moving your chest of drawers upstairs and the beautiful sunrise and wave watching in Tenby 🥰
Take care Sean 💜

What! You were with Geoff??? Do tell! I adored that guy and remember when Adam was on tv with him ❤
Ps I actually cried a bit when I heard that Geoff had died 😢
When the internet goes down Shaun, those gardening books will be worth their weight in gold 🥬
A double Yoker! I eat so many eggs, at least 12 a week usually and I've never ever had one.
They are more common when you buy from a farmer rather than supermarket.
Okay I'm adding buying eggs from farmers to the list of things I want to do
Ref xmas....making x puddings with Mam and slipping a silver sixpence in each one...the anticipation of who would be lucky enough to find a silver sixpence was wonderful ❤...
Receiving xmas cards another and buying special presents for mam and da anothet...
Have you ever cooked tatws pim minedd. My dad used to cook it in a frying pan.....Beuwiful xx
Back in the 80s but remind me.
@@seanjamescameron sliced potato, onion, mushrooms, some bacon all fried in the same pan then add some stock and peas, I usually add some sliced cabbage too. Lovely with a dollop of sos brown 👍
I’ll drop a pot over when it’s ready, this weekend.
Will probably get bored once it is all “finished” 🤣
@@seanjamescameron yep lol luckily there's no such thing for us
Carrots are really nice with a bit of marmalade added after cooking
That sounds really good- usually I just add butter and a sprinkle of brown sugar.
M and s flowers are beautiful and reasonable ❤❤❤❤
Maybe part of highlights could include the Tenby ocean, festival folk dancing and goodbye to Cyril.
I hate to give books away, definitely won’t throw books away.
Starting to eat at 3 is a great idea is you end it at 7 or 8. That is intermittent fasting. You can make the eating time any hours that suit you, and the deal is don’t eat otherwise. It can be 5, 6, 7 or 8 hours. I found this freeing and easy.
Hi Sean, with your gardening books you have collected over the years- why don't you create a ",book nook" in your summer house and when folk stop by for a "cuppa tea" if they spot a book they may find intersting you can loan or pass it on to them
So you will still have them to hand " just in case" , take care Kate, Dartmoor, Devon
Keep the books!! 😂
Elder flower trees grow like weeds in abundance near a river near me...check out your river bank and the woods near where you live I bet you will find one grwoing in the wild that you could harvest a few berries/flowers from...
If i lived closer i would take all your books, and of course you could borrow any of them back if you wanted ❤
Keep the books that have an emotional attachment & donate the rest. Good luck, it's not an easy job.
What about starting with books you want to keep, you will probably find you won't get rid of hardly any. 😂I usually eat between 6 and 7for my last meal in the evening and don't eat after 8.00 pm.
Breakfast at 3.30pm then prepping tea at 5pm....this is my kind of living hahaha 😂
You could probably at least get your bike in a little shelter in that outside space. Make some room in that back room then, just a thought 🤷♀️
Hi James just enquiring about chicken you ordered few weeks back where did you order it from thanks Anthony in trebanog

Would be nice now to start thinking of getting your slow cooker out, as it would be nice and easy to prep some cowl/stew etc in the evening before going to bed then putting it in slow cooker on slow in the morning, then it would be ready for later on in the day/evening. 🍛 😋🐈⬛🐈⬛ 💐
Bought lamb on Friday for exactly that purpose.
Hiya Sean and all Please can you tell me can i grow winter kale in a bucket ?
If you stake it you can, make sure the bucket has holes.
Please include when you fell over on the mountain because you missed seeing a Fairy Door in the tree so perhaps the naughty imps made you fall and when you and the one with the owls 😀
Oh my, I can not imagine how you would get rid of the shark fin, if you planted one.
When I go through my books, I ask myself, when was the last time I looked at it. If I can't remember or it was been at least a year, then it goes
When my nieces and nephews are doing my death clean, they'll need to be careful about my gardening books. I might come back to haunt them if they show disrespect to the collection... ;)
I eat my first meal at 11 am to 12 noon and my last meal no later than 6 pm but drink unsweatened tea (no cream) or water and thats it👍
Hi Sean years ago I collected elderberries an an found a recipe in a library book for elderberry Rob like a cordial I made it but made a big mistake of putting it in ordinary pop bottles so what happened one night while in bed there was a big explosion hit were the bottles of elderberry Rob ❤
Suggest to give books to library and then you can revisit them when you want tom
Your doing just great Sean love all your vids ,but I still don't think you can beat a good book .The old was are the best ways I reckon .
I take my egg shells. Clean them with water, let them dry. I grind my own coffee Beans. With the egg shells and the coffee is less better as a nice rich full taste.
Eh?
What!
@@suegale2273 She’s saying she grinds her eggs shells and drinks them with her ground coffee. They’re a good source of calcium.
Number 146, I've told you a million times don't exaggerate 😂🤣 xx
Best Salt is Celtic Salt Bit pricey but do research and you will see the benifits
That’s what I use.
Think of the books you don't want as giving pleasure to the person who receives them ❤
Lovely vlog has always yr homestead will be grand when you get it all set up a bonded gravel path will be fantastic and quick to do goid luck tc now the oldies x👍🤞
Having the other part of the plot will be amazing
Our meal times are :Breakfast at 8am Lunch 1pm and Dinner at 6pm! The Dachshunds have their meals at 10am and 6pm!!
Oh...if you got the second plot you could divide a bit off to someone in trade for weeding! Maybe a younger person ready to learn?
No thanks, the whole idea of leaving allotments is to get away from people and enjoy the peace.
@seanjamescameron yes...I get that. We are that way as well. At sixty six I do often dream of a day with a do it guy to do heavy work for me!

This is an independent place where orders are made up from orders so should be fine.
@ oh good, wise choice..x
I already have sleep apnea but it's not that bad that a machine is needed the doctors say.
It's best to eat before 7pm ,I know that can be hard when your self employed because you can loose track of time. Also try and go for gentle walk for 15 minutes or more After tea it will aid digestion, lower blood sugar, and reduce the risk of heart disease and helps increased circulation .
Yayyy!
Never eat past 3PM.
So he’s supposed to starve?
