Sean, although duvets are washable, not really meant to be washed in a domestic machine, it will cause it to breakdown. Take to a laundrette where the machines are made to take heavier bulky loads + you can use the tumble drier there. Take care.
Hi Sean, I definitely wouldn’t get a combined washer/dryer . They’re complicated to fix, break more often. Stick with your ballon dryer thing and dehumidifier as you are lucky enough to have spare room. Re cleaners. Just have them in monthly and make a list for them of ‘good bottoming jobs’ like bathroom tiles, windows, oven, full fridge clean etc.
Please be careful and best not put a duvet in your machine because from experience it can actually break the machine. Best take duvets to a launderette large washer and dryer. Even bed pillows can actually break a washing machine. Best wishes Sean 🩵
Hi Sean , have enjoyed your pottering in the house video- you have the knack of making the ordinary very entertaining and sometimes it feels like I’m in the house as well😂
You can send a duvet away to be cleaned where I live...there may be a similar service where you live? Alternatively, you could take it to the launderette - the washers there tend to be bigger and can easily take a duvet.
Hi Sean I so love your vlogs and the way you chat to us and include us in your vlogs you do make me laugh 😂 it’s like having a friend here with me. So nice when you live on your own. 😊
It seems, when you think about it quickly, that an hours worth of cleaning might not be worth it. After all, it’s only an hour out of the day and the house is cleaned. But their hour of cleaning is not the same as your hour of cleaning. I know this because I thought the same thing and got a chance to try out that thought during Covid. Professional cleaners have a method, move quickly and efficiently and can do more work in an hour than I could do in two, and oftentimes better. When people got back to normal, we had the cleaning person in twice a month, which worked out fine.
I bought a dehumidifier Sean after you said yours was good and I am impressed, I love it, I can’t believe how much water collects is the bottom from damp washing drying upstairs. It’s brilliant, thanks for the recommendation. Have a good few days with your friend, hopefully you will get help with some of your jobs. It will be interesting to see what he brings in his van for you from your allotment in London 😊❤x😢
I’ve got a washing machine and a separate tumble dryer. Since becoming a widower 3 years ago there is only my washing now , so I don’t bother to use the rotary line in garden and so don’t have to worry about rain, always use tumble dryer and worth any extra electricity cost to me .
Once invested in a Washer / Dryer but could not recommend. Had it checked and was correctly jnstalled. The " drying " cycle even after its longest programme left laundry still very damp. Drying racks shut in with a dehumidifier much more effective.
I had a washer dryer combined and it was rubbish and after a while the dryer stoped working but the washer was fine and I was stuck with a washer until it broke down as well...keep the airer and the dehumidifyer Sean!
Just had dishwasher fitted - best thing ever! Dirty dishes everywhere in my tiny kitchen, drove me bonkers. Highly recommended if you got the space. I got rid of my cooker to make space. Bought table top oven and hot plate.....works for me. 😊😊😊
I have one in the kitchen but I also have a little countertop one down on the studio/ground floor level. It works wonderfully for all the mugs and glasses that are used in the garden!
Great to see you today Shaun. Love the way you talk as if we are in the kitchen with you. Yes go for the larger drum in your new washer, it's good to have the tumble dryer with it just in case needed. Nice having a separate laundry room, very envious. So funny, your one banana. Have a great few days with your friend.🐞
Keep your one banana away from other things, as it lets off gasses, and will ripen other things too quickly. I too am always making errors with my Waitrose order in the way you have! Also, you can put the skin of that one banana around the base of your roses, as it does them good, but you may already know this of course? I got a washing machine with a bigger door, so you would be able to get your duvet in then. I would also personally not recommend getting a washer/dryer because if one goes wrong, you are stuck without the other - they also cost a lot more of course. My rescue greyhound Madge is terrified of fireworks, so I am hoping no one nearby has any tonight (the 5th November) - there may well be some in the surrounding villages, but I live in a rural isolated spot. I hope that your two beautiful black cats are ok tonight. I live near Hatherleigh, in West Devon, England, and they have the flaming tar barrels pulled through the town at 5.00am on this coming Saturday. Keep safe and keep well, and have a lovely week with your friend. Blessings from Jilly & Madge in West Devon, England. xxx
One banana! That's enough to make you want 5 more! Sad it's so hard to get good service anymore. I hope you enjoy your friend's visit and don't let what's in the van overwhelm you. You'll get it sorted out when you have time. I'd love to see the video you make when you repair the leaky tap! I also enjoy the videos when you cook something. My favorites though are when you take us with you to the mountains or start something new at the homestead. If the system with your "balloon" type dryer and de-humidifier works, I wouldn't worry about purchasing a dryer. I understand about not having a set schedule for meals and your sleep being off. I know I feel better when I get up early, eat a good breakfast and then try to keep moving and not let myself sit down and fall asleep. Rain or shine we need fresh air and exercise. I'm trying to make myself do better too!!
You can keep your ready made pastry In the freezer if you dont want to use it straight away, and take it out the night before you want to use it. If your making crumble you won't need pastry. Thanks for another lovely video. 🐈⬛🐈⬛💐
Have a word with your chums at the ‘men in sheds’ to take a peek at your washing machine and leaky tap, bribe ‘em with plenty of tea and biscuits and they’ll be queuing at your door to help 😊 All the best, Richard
In Canada we have our remembrance ceremonies on the 11th day on the llth hour in the llth month. So , many businesses , schools etc. are closed on Monday Nov. 11 . Remembrance ceremonies are held at cenotaphs from coast to coast. I have a separate washer and dryer but I understand that your electric bill is quite expensive in Wales. I only use my dryer in the winter months. Love my clothes line in the spring and summer. A beautiful fresh smell to all our bedding and clothes. Looks like you only need a washer because of your set up for drying clothes- seems to work perfectly for you. Have a great visit with your friend.
Please don’t get a washer drier! Uses huge amounts of electricity. Dry pod is the way to go. I use the cover less duvets in the summer, much easier to wash / dry. Get winter duvet to an industrial laundry. Worth the money, for the far less hassle.
Hi Sean, you need some WD40 On your laundry room door hinge. Don’t bother with washer dryer just get large capacity washing machine if you need to replace
Just have a washing machine, as if you have a washer dryer and it breaks down it’s the whole thing gone, hope you and the cats are keeping safe and well. Stay safe 🙏
You’ve got a drying method which is an investment, and seems to work. Since it’s just you, I’d opt for a new washer, on sale, not a combo, which can be problematic. And, I find that winter is less an issue with washing clothes than summer, when I am in the garden every day.
Morning Sean , you will need to know the make of you kitchen tap in order to buy and replace ‘ cartridge ‘ that you will need . Unfortunately it’s not the old style tap washer washer . It’s pretty straightforward to replace though, it’s postoperative find cartridges that are good for a few different makes . Go to somewhere like Home Depot, whatever you have near you. Turn your hot and cold valve off under your sink , if you don’t have them there you will have to turn off the cold support coming into your house. Pay good attention of how your cartridge comes out ( take pictures) . To get the cartridge out you need the right tools, don’t fart around with the wrong tools . You will need what we call water pump plyers or some vice grips to take off the nut at the base of the tap spout. Loosen and take off the spout , the cartridge you will see there ,take a picture , take it out and replace with new one. Don’t forget to drain the remaining water in the line after you have shut the water off before you undo the base nut . As you probably know, Mr. Google the plumber has many videos to help you Sean which will save you much headache and despair. 😂 I’m looking forward to the changing the kitchen cartridge video.
As others are saying, washer dryer combo aren't worth the cost. They break down often and don't last long. Enjoy your friend, have some down time!❤❤❤❤❤
Laughed a bit at Jeff ( so?) not ever being allowed to venture into Wales again…by the way , I would keep the ladies who clean for you - a luxury AND important for when you feel grim…
Tap: there will be a UA-cam video to watch to help; Washer: just get one that takes a larger load, so instead of 6 or 7kg get a 9kg one, but I wouldn’t go for a washer drier because they shrink stuff and cost a lot to run- I have a clothes rack like yours and it is more than enough and cheaper to run.
Don't get rid of your washer yet Sean. You may just need to clean your filter. It's at the front of your machine. Make sure to put a small bowl underneath to catch the water, from it. Also get a bottle of machine cleaner. Put that through with an empty machine. I have cleaners once a fortnight Sean after developing lung fibrosis and breaking my shoulder. I can't manage to bend down for long to clean my bath, floors, skirting boards etc. Climbing up to clean is also out of the question. Like you said though all I seem to do is clean all day.
Hi. I would stick to a separate washer and dryer. You could get the stackable one where the dryer sits above the washer. I think your funny order of only 1 banana, 1 leek could go in your Christmas highlights of the year video. Also the episode Calamity Sean where the shed moved around. That was entertaining to watch. I loved Calamity Jane movie. Really enjoy your informative, relaxing and lovely videos.
Hi Sean. Imo. Never buy a washer dryer. As for having cleaners in. Only you know if it's worth getting them to clean for you. Because your house always looks clean and tidy to me. Have a good day.❤
😂😂😂 LOL one banana 🍌. I know exactly what you mean about that when ordering food. I needed that laugh. Hope you have a good time with your friend this week 😊
@@carolinecasado1807 oh yes I agree. I remember when I bought some milk from a supermarket (same name as a country) who sell theirs in litres and not pints years ago - only I didn't realise this so bought three 3 litre bottles which are large - it's fair to say we had milk for quite a long while as nearly 6 pints each!! 😂
What about getting some baskets to put on your shelves for your fruit and vegetable storage? I have a washer dryer but find l rarely use the dryer. It takes ages and is not very efficient.
Hi Sean. Firstly get the filter cleaned on your washer. Secondly instead of the expense of a new washer why not purchase a waterproof duvet protector/cover? only about a tenner from your favourite online shop. It would save having to wash the duvet if there is a spill of tea of a little cat accident. You would only have to wash the normal duvet cover and wipe and dry the waterproof cover. Just ensure that your fluffy duvet is properly dry before putting it into the waterproof cover. Then just fit your normal Duvet cover over the top. Hope that the summer house building is going well. Take care
Washer driers are expensive to run Sean, so as you seem to have good alternatives, just get a washing machine .. Have a lovely few days with your friend .. .
@23:05 I really miss seeing the stars in the night sky when I lived in Moelfre, Anglesey. You might have to get a plumber for the leaking tap Sean, apparently those taps need a special cartridge, unlike the little black rubber washers installed for the old trusted single taps 🙂
Morning Sean, I have a 10 killo washer it holds all my bedding. A spin of 1400 speed. Cleaning your own home I feel much more connected to it being mine. I like it my way, I'm sure you do too. Hope you have a lovely time, this week. ❤
Btw. We here in Canada have basements in our homes, and they can get musty during the summer months. I always run a dehumidifier and never have had a mould or dampness problem and my home feels dryer (saves on air conditioning). And the water that collects in the reservoir, I use to water my plants or in my steam iron as it contains no calcium carbonate, hence the iron will last for ever!
You can bring your duvet to the Laundromat where they have massive machines for bulky items. Even a large capacity household washer is going to struggle to wash a duvet. Also use a cover so you only have to wash the duvet twice a year.
Good evening Sean You made me laugh about always having washing up, my brother always moaned about having to do washing up so I bought him some paper plates for a laugh 😜 Nobody else commented about this, but when you were standing at the sink, I glanced at the sleeve of your shirt and saw a white feather sticking out of it. Have you been playing pillow fights with the cats? 😂 Take care Sean 💜
Hi, Sean! It's very reassuring to know I'm not the only one who feels like I spend half my day washing dishes. I made pumpkin bread yesterday and the kitchen was completely destroyed.
Hi, have you a small panel at the bottom front of the washer. There is sometimes a small knob that unscrews. It collects all the fluff and bits. It has water in it so place towels down.Linda.
Combined washer/dryers are inefficient and expensive to run. You would get better/cheaper results from separate machines, also the drying capacity for a combo is less than the washing capacity, so after the wash you have to take half the washing out of the drum before setting it to tumble. If you are going to replace your washing machine I would go for the largest drum capacity you can find so you can accommodate your duvet and do bigger washes, combined with the highest spin speed - it makes a big difference to drying times. Go for a good make eg Bosch .
I loved Guy Fawkes Day. I remember seeing my first bonfire on base at RAF High Wycombe (later known as RAF Dawes Hill... but no longer a base as it was sold off by the Ministry of Defense and has become houses, though there is a Churchill Underground there still which has been renovated for tours). Dad had a penchant for English history so I got all of the stories and history when I was younger!
I have bought myself 2 x 4 tog duvets and put them together in the quilt cover in the Winter. Each one singly fits in the washing machine. I have never had a tumble drier even when my children were small. Always used a washing line and then air it overnight.
The gunpowder plot, was planned in a large Elizabethan house called the Eastbury house, Sean. And it still exists today in my home town, the London borough of Barking.👍👍
I advise against washer dryer, the clothes came out a terrible creased mess, and tended to tangle up together, save your money just buy the washer Sean ❤
I wouldn't have a washer/dryer again - had one a long time ago and it never seemed to completely dry heavier things, towels etc. I have a little tumble dryer but it only goes on once a week for the towels. You like very milky tea, Sean! Each to their own lol.
The duvet could of pushed on the door of your washer and broke the seal to look like a leak...Its just too much for the washer.. you could use a laundromat if available...or wash it in the bathtub dont use a lot of soap just a tiny bit...stomp it in the tub be careful...balance....move it around......pull the plug, stomp it flat fold stomp, fold stomp.until you cant fold any more hold on...dont fall. You can put it folded small in your washer you probably need to make a 4 ft roll to balance the load.. then set on spin...then hang to dry. Just a thought.
Washer dryers have smaller drums. Drying can take a long time. Separate washing machine every time and you could purchase one with bigger load capacity
No need tumble dryer / wager buy cheapest washing machine no smaller then 9 kg, I had a washer/ dryer for 2 years with 3 children but if a challenge . Wash use your dry hanger and dehumidifier to dry Wash in day early possible hang out dry all in day between outside/ dehumidifier and hot air fryer Machine sizes tried all 6 /7/9/10 kg Obviously the more room in a washing machine drum the bigger the item but seriously do try high spin machine 1600 Hope that helps
I wouldn’t buy a washer dryer because if one breaks down you have lost the use of both, and there is more to go wrong, the more gubbins the more there is to break!
As always very good. Suggest you do a smaller washing cycle. To check before buying a new m/c . With a good drying system upstairs you don’t need a wash/dryer m/c. Maybe a larger capacity will be a good idea
The duvet feather on your back Sean was a bit like the dripping tap 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 only joking. I used to love a nice cup of tea before bed but even if it was decaf it still seemed to keep me awake. Do love a nice mug of hot milk with a dollop of raw honey in had it as a kid and it is delicious. Another lovely video thank you, Sean the two old farts over here in Lincolnshire ❤️
Hello Sean..in my humble opinion..a washer dryer is just a fad..for a start..you can't use the dryer whilst the washer is being used..and it will use boat loads more electricity than your clothes airer..😯😉
In US wash-dryers can be 'piggy-backed'- it fits in a closet. I've had them in different homes. Must😊 have dryer as well as a dryer rack. If you can put them W&D upstairs, you won't have to carry cloths up&down.😊😊😊😊
I think you can buy easy wash duvets that can easily go in the washing machines. I changed mine, they are thinner but just as warm but I’ve not washed them yet as I haven’t had them long. I had a friend with a combination washer/ dryer, I don’t think they are very good
I had a washer/dryer years ago, it was a nightmare, the dryer takes ages, leaves clothes damp and then fluff ends up on your clothes when you next wash. Better to buy a 10kg washer, the bigger drum saves money and washes better.
Hi Sean. My experience with washer dryers are they always seem to go wrong and develop faults. I wouldn't have another. Cant you fit your surplus Tea in to your new under stair pantry and free up some cupboard space for your cups? My kitchen isn't the biggest, I'm constantly having to shuffle stuff about. 😊
Morning Sean, when we lived out in the countryside and my daughter was younger we always had a bonfire and get together every year, we have moved since and my girl will be 25 shortly but every time we smell a bonfire we always say near enough the same time ‘ I love the smell of a bonfire’ 😂
I would not cram too large a load. The clohes (or in your case, duvet) won't come clean. I am from America and we don't really understand the concept of not having dryers. However, I've heard bad things about the combinations (like it takes 3 days per load,) so if those were my choices, I'd just get the washer.
Loving your videos Sean, especially the ones in the house. I hate washer/dryers with a passion. The one I had just made the clothes hot, but still very, very damp.
Oh lol I'm not sure I'm doing the tent and dehumidifier correctly I put mine right under the tent. The tent is more or less hiding the humidifier,I wasn't sure if it was a hazzard,I'm still here though and the clothes did dry.
Having had a washer dryer I wouldn’t recommend. It takes forever to dry clothes, much slower than a tumble dryer, which must cost a lot in electricity.
The bonfires were ordered by King James to celebrate his being around after the attempt, so although everyone thinks we are celebrating guy Fawkes, it's not strictly true. But I'm not sure it really matters after all this time. There was an article on the radio yesrreday.
Your vids are wonderful .there's a lot of people who live on their own and feel lonely.so your chats are lovely .I just want ask a few vids ago you mentioned your area under the stairs was warm so is it ok for your veg.x
Lovely video, Sean. Interesting that you say the same little ditty as those of us across the pond do...good night, sleep tight, don't let the bugs bite, if they do, take a shoe and knock them all black and blue.
Sean, although duvets are washable, not really meant to be washed in a domestic machine, it will cause it to breakdown. Take to a laundrette where the machines are made to take heavier bulky loads + you can use the tumble drier there. Take care.

Black Friday sales coming up, end of November. Washer/Dryer's take forever to do a cycle and your electricity bill will sky rocket. Don't buy one.
That’s just what I was about to say! The running costs are expensive!
100% agree!

Have a good day.❤
Top chatting! 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
You can always make your own spray. I think you use water, white vinegar and some essential oil.
What about getting some baskets to put on your shelves for your fruit and vegetable storage? I have a washer dryer but find l rarely use the dryer. It takes ages and is not very efficient.
They are on the list.
Take care
@@gerty-hb3jk Never heard of them. Will check them out. Thank you.
UA-cam can tell you how to fix your leaky faucet. How you do it depends on the type of faucet.
Sean youve got a definite twinkle 🤩 in your eye 👀 today.. something has done you good recently. Good for you.
You can bring your duvet to the Laundromat where they have massive machines for bulky items. Even a large capacity household washer is going to struggle to wash a duvet. Also use a cover so you only have to wash the duvet twice a year.
I think he knows to use a duvet cover lol 😂
Save your money clean your house yourself.ive never liked the idea of cleaners looking around my house that's just me.
Good evening Sean
You made me laugh about always having washing up, my brother always moaned about having to do washing up so I bought him some paper plates for a laugh 😜 Nobody else commented about this, but when you were standing at the sink, I glanced at the sleeve of your shirt and saw a white feather sticking out of it. Have you been playing pillow fights with the cats? 😂
Take care Sean 💜
Hi, Sean! It's very reassuring to know I'm not the only one who feels like I spend half my day washing dishes. I made pumpkin bread yesterday and the kitchen was completely destroyed.
Yum, pumpkin bread is worth the mess🧡
I can see the stars. It looked beautiful and I love the sound of the clock very soothing.
Hi, have you a small panel at the bottom front of the washer. There is sometimes a small knob that unscrews. It collects all the fluff and bits. It has water in it so place towels down.Linda.
I opened mine once and got 8 pence, a four inch nail and two cocktail sticks 😂
Tuesday at 2 pm and 7 degrees on Vancouver Island. Rain beginning in about 3 hours from now.
Weather’s turning, temperature’s dropping this week
checking my feet for webbed toes
Unscrew the cap end/head of the tap. A new washer (rubber doohickey) inside the cap is probably all you need.
I once ordered six bananas and six parsnips. What came was a pack of six of each multiplied by six.
Parsnip soup then 😂
Well done on the digging.
I advise against washer dryer, the clothes came out a terrible creased mess, and tended to tangle up together, save your money just buy the washer Sean ❤
You won't beat my ebay purchase! 1 carpet tac 😅😅
That’s crazy😂
@@lindacampbell540 I wish I was kidding 🤣 You'd think an email saying.... are you sure? would have taken a second
and they lost 2quid on postage🤣🤣
Enjoy your time with your pal hopefully get some dry days get a few things done.
To keep your apples longer, put them in a bowl of cold water too cool them down for half an hour. This is how the pack houses cool them down.
No need tumble dryer / wager buy cheapest washing machine no smaller then 9 kg, I had a washer/ dryer for 2 years with 3 children but if a challenge . Wash use your dry hanger and dehumidifier to dry
Wash in day early possible hang out dry all in day between outside/ dehumidifier and hot air fryer
Machine sizes tried all 6 /7/9/10 kg
Obviously the more room in a washing machine drum the bigger the item but seriously do try high spin machine 1600 Hope that helps
I voted today. That's what I got done. Waiting for delivery. Then I'm going to sleep as I'm sick.
Hope you feel better
@lindacampbell540 thank you.
Hi Sean, can I ask where you got the dehumidifier from and also the motion sensor lights please 🙏
I had a friend with a combination washer/ dryer, I don’t think they are very good
I always take water to bed as well 👍👍😊🏴
Look like you’re feeling perkier for your visitation - great to have a playmate now & then, hey?😊
Don't get a washer dryer Sean, stick with just a washing machine. Maybe get one with a bigger load capacity which will make doing your quilt easier.
I would not cram too large a load. The clohes (or in your case, duvet) won't come clean.
I am from America and we don't really understand the concept of not having dryers. However, I've heard bad things about the combinations (like it takes 3 days per load,) so if those were my choices, I'd just get the washer.
The Argos deal sounds great for the washing machine! £500 reduced to half price is really good
Loving your videos Sean, especially the ones in the house.
It takes forever to dry clothes, much slower than a tumble dryer, which must cost a lot in electricity.
nice video sean
Your filter on your washer might need cleaning and I had a washer dryer machine and it didn't dry the clothes properly 😊
……… don’t let the bugs, bite, if they do, squeeze them tight, they won’t come back tomorrow night!
I would just get a good brand washing machine, with a decent capacity. Sounds like you have the drying situation sorted.
Get a washer with a bigger drum. Tumble dryers very expensive to run.
Bigger drum and run it for a second spin after the wash and will dry much quicker!
Put the water in a bottle or a sealed container like a cycle bottle so that you do not knock the water over the floor or bed cover
