Well I heard Royce down in Tucson Arizona and allergies and all, still souded like a million bucks. As a voice teacher and fellow bass singer ( who studied some with Jerome Hines btw) I think Royce is among the best because he not only has the range, but also the musicianship and artistry.

I was 30 before my low notes came. When my voice changed I was mortified because I liked singing tenor, but when I got into the swing of singing with JD Sumner and George Younce and Richard Sterban I really enjoyed bass singing more than high singing... especially when my parents no longer dreaded my shrill high tones

So when you were 30 your voice suddenly changed?

Pretty much. Maybe not suddenly, but I was singing high until my late 20s pretty much

It's cool to get all these perspectives...you ever had Tim Riley on your channel? If not, I think that would be awesome. And I agree with Royce about Tim's volume. Out of all basses without a choral background, he'd probably be my first choice to sing in a choir without close amplification. My first S.G. bass for that position would be K.C. Armstrong, as he's got a choral background, but Tim's a close second.

It looks like this is the closest approach to interviewing an opera bass singer... from this channel.. taking into consideration that they are part of our Bass family too.

Referring to young people trying to talk deep so they get recognized for their bass I guessing he just talks he sound like jd summer when he talk but I mean even he came up while talking emotions and points you need to make you not gonna stay at one note or octive always
