Oliveira might not be Micro Jackson or have awesome drops as Terran. But his map push is almost unbeatable. Its peak Terran. The siege tank layers, the marine splits and air support. Thats how he won his championship. Once he started moving towards you, you couldn't dislodge him. You could at most delay him.
Have to praise the incredible reactions of Oliveira to stand against full zerg mode Solar, for sure these two have the most dramatic and exciting match ups
Oliveira trying hellbats timing, how the mighty have fallen! Just kidding, Oliveira is still amazing, always love how he positions his tanks in general Oliveira the fortress terran
they should land them waaay more often! So many times these pro players have the chance to kill an entire army, or worker line when the opponent has no vikings left, but its like it was written in their pro books to "never land a viking", so annoying. I find myself so many times in these matches screaming inside "land the vikingggssss", like they have 2 tanks on the ground and 5 vikings in the air and the tanks are being wrecked by 7 marines.. and the vikings just stare....
NGL that map is insane for turtle terran if u give up only 1 of ur bases u can essentially cut the map down to 1/3 which means u need to defend a way smaller portion and can use units like tanks and ghost or planetaries to the maximum
That's not a bo3, it's not even a bo2, its two maps, form 2 seperate bo2's oliveira and solar played in the world team league. They went 1-1 in both of them. They don't play bo3's in WTL
I never get enough of the solar Meme Nuke Eater xDDD just one mistake where he lost a Match vs Maru caus his full Lord army got nuked and now he is cursed for ever caus of this xD
Here’s what Chat GTP says when prompted to describe a late-game terran vs zerg: In a late game Terran vs Zerg matchup in Starcraft 2, both players will have likely amassed a large army and established a complex base infrastructure. The Terran player will have most likely focused on building up their economy and production facilities to mass produce powerful and versatile units such as Siege Tanks, Thors, Ghosts, and Liberators. They will also have likely established a strong defensive line using bunkers, turrets, and sensor towers to detect incoming Zerg attacks. The Zerg player, on the other hand, will have relied on their superior economy and unit production capabilities to swarm the Terran player with overwhelming numbers of Zerglings, Banelings, and Roaches. They may have also built up a strong air force consisting of Mutalisks, Corruptors, and Vipers to deal with the Terran's air units. As the game progresses, the Zerg player will likely attempt to keep the Terran on the defensive by continuously attacking with waves of Zerglings and Banelings, while using their air units to harass the Terran's economy and production facilities. The Terran player, on the other hand, will aim to establish a strong position using their Siege Tanks and Liberators to control key chokepoints and deny the Zerg's ability to expand. They may also use their Ghosts to EMP the Zerg's powerful spellcasters, such as the Infestors and Vipers, to weaken their army. In the late game, the Terran player may attempt to transition into a more mobile composition, utilizing units such as Hellbats, Medivacs, and Banshees to launch surprise attacks on the Zerg's bases and infrastructure. Meanwhile, the Zerg player will aim to tech up to more advanced units such as Ultralisks, Brood Lords, and Swarm Hosts, which can deal massive damage and provide strong defensive capabilities. Ultimately, the outcome of the game will depend on the skill and strategy of the players, as well as their ability to adapt and counter their opponent's moves.
I like how newer card editions and updates are getting closer to general points of playstyle or of memorable moments of the players. (edit: fat fingers, phone watcher. Side question: Anyone else enjoy these while on the toilet?)
@@isaacnitta4133 counter to nukes?? overseers, observers, lots of photon cannons or spores (so that u have to throw more than 1 nuke and take a long time before you can get to the actual damage.. by then the observer-death ball is on top of your ghost) and learn not to F2 everywhere. More specific late game counters, templars with feedback, and infestors. Or simply dont allow the Terran to have a 6 to 8 gas economy. Oh and if you mean Terran... for me the hardest to play against with nukes is the super-turtle terran with lots of tanks and a double layer of turrets.. you just cant get anywhere near them. Plus they have scans and Ravens. Even mines can serve to make it even harder for the ghosts to approach or find the best spot.
I dont understand why zerg doesnt get a few swarmhosts if the zerg does this. Even if you only get 5 of them, it means the terran cant just sit back and you dont have to attack those strong positions
Because swarmhosts take up supply and do very little for the supply they take up. The terran counterattack has very high probability of just kiling you because your useless swarmhosts could've been vipers/infestor/more combat units/whatever else there is. Once they deal with the locusts you're extremely vulnerable. Unless you've got superior amounts of static defense and ways to deal with siege units, swarmhosts set you up to get counterattacked.
Swarmhosts are supply dense and ineffective off cooldown. They're a very ineffective siege unit compared to the Broodlord, but the Broodlord has its own issues like being completely defenseless against air units.
Olivera is just not very good at TvZ. He said in his stream that Serral beats him 20 to 0 during their practice in worlds and he almost just gave up lol. And Reynor's playstyle also gave him a hard time. But in TvT and TvP he certainly showed peak Terran performance. But he also had a lot of interviews after worlds so he certainly didn't have enough time to practice around these days.
i mean zerg should win most match ups in pro level play i mean look at pro win rate % statistic zerg is literally like 2k + above the other 2 and thats including when terran was broken in Wings of liberty and before firing on high ground reveled units
I always hit the like button on your videos and that’s not my thing. Something about the commentary is so self aware but doesn’t take itself too seriously. It’s like being talked through a StarCraft game by Kevin spacey (before he was shitty
Why do they keep pushing this guy as a "normal man"? He was a pro SC2 player since he was a teenager, and has been steadily moving up the ranks. How is that different than other pros?
Because thats what Oliveira said about himself in the aftermath of his win at Katowice. And it was an emotional and inspiring moment. Basically it meant from him that even if you too are average, if you put in the work, even if the competition is perceived as more talented than you, you can still do it.
22:42 and this is why this game just lacks major potential. don't get me wrong i love sc2. But i would love the game so so so much more if they just added ranking up and bonus stats if you get 40+ fkn kills on a unit. The amount of games ive lost where i have a 70 kill tank but i stepped out of position for 2 seconds with my marines and got obliterated and lost with my tanks being just short of clearing it all.
Thats not unbalanced. As a terran, you have an overwhelming advantage in a defensive position. Zerg is encouraged to swarm and sacrifice many units in unfavorable trades to wear you down as long as they have map control and a superior economy. You can't over penalise or over reward a race playing their intended style. As a terran, you are rewarded with favorable trades in defense. Your job is to either trade so favorably that you can counter attack, outlast your oponent on less rescources but a confortable position, go out once you have a deathball of mech ghost, or use drops to deal economic damage while you defend. I don't see why you would need your siege tanks to be even more deadly than they already are. What do you want to do ? One shot banelings and invalidate the core playstyle of zergs ?
I love this terran player. Been watching his awesome games. Please tell him that his name sucks. He is a world champion. He deserves to have a better and unique name. Let him be known for his unique identity. I'm sick of calling him oliveira because i love the real oliveira as well(mma fighter).
What are Zerg? An animalistic race. What do they have? Spell-casters (Dr. Strange might have a couple of questions about that possibility). What can they produce? Zerglings and Banelings, which are massively damaging on their own once upgraded, let alone in sheer numbers. No wonder the f*cking Koprulu sector never really survived the Zerg invasion. Sh*t race, disbalanced cr*p. Best part is that most animals on Earth barely have one ability, Vipers and Infesters have two EACH. And the scouting vs stealth ability is stunning. Let's look at Terran vs Zerg: - Terran: Has to build a ton of Orbital Commands or normal speed costly Ravens to scout both the map and look out for stealth units. - Zerg: Let's just produce a ton of cheap-*ss Overlords, give them a speed research, then convert them into a ton of speedy 18-eyed stealth-detecting Overseers. People will rarely go after them because they would be dealing with Zerg in numbers, their stealth units (burrowed Lurkers and Infesters), and their spell casters. I totally forgot. The Zerg units are quick on creep, but let's give the Zerglings a speed upgrade so that they are quicker than almost everything else in the game on normal ground as well. Yay!!! Wait, there's more!!! Awww, Terran and Protoss will have to risk their dropships and prisms to get into the opponent base. Zerg, no worries at all. Build one Nydus Worm, then keep taking out it's head anywhere you want on the map. Nydus Worm be like, "Awww, you killed my head? Oops, there's another one over there, and then over there, and then, and then." Oh, and the Nydus Worm spreads creep, so if it stays around long enough, you can't build around where it came out. Suffice to say, I. HATE. THE. ZERG. as a race in SC2. Rant over.
evenly matched players. terran hold out till they can counter attack. gg ez. siege tanks are just one of if not the best unit in the game. brood war is the same lol. guardian tech can break them but vikings are disposable and cheap. colossus vs terran is just weak. i still cant believe liberators got added to the game. if terran does 2 base or even 1 base turtle. just take the whole map and tech up. u need guardians or carriers. and even then they can make 20 vikings ez. all of my brood war tournament wins as terran were siege tank/goliath or siege/wraith. sc2 is no different. maybe you get a base trade with the terran but they just life off cc and still win. tanks are slow and you need to counter it by avoiding the ball of tanks and pushing the main.natural. tank friendly fire and ruin a turtle but good luck getting a drop or nydus in the main
Oliveira being world champ is kinda wild, but then I remember his playoff run and he deserved it. so many amazing series.
I think it put a target on him and people have been studying up since

Yeah it looks like the only way Solar beat him here was by having so much aggression that the Normal Man couldn't set those up
yup terran power unmatched
Love these kinds of games, reminds me of some of the best Brood War matchups. Just big paper trying to smash small scissors to break through.
4:45 "insert joke here" Winter is mighty enough to pull this off, maybe even for 20 mins straight
"morph" is correct. In the editor ANY transformation of a unit state (like sieging or borrowing) is called a "morph" ability.

BEST PART, his face @23:45 🤣🤣🤣
I just randomly found this game and now I’m invested
We gotta have an updated dunning Kruger chart with olivera saying how did I get here XD
Absolutely loved the story of Oliveira during the championship and super cool to see more castings of him now
Blue balled at the end of game 1 like a smurf. And not a ladder one either!
I'm going to have to hold off on the like button till winter tells me 2(more interactive)
Oli forgot one beautiful tool he has that kills so many lings/banes/hydra... where are his minessss ????

Seems like some BCs would be great for Olivera in the turtle strategy.
