  • Josiah Johnson is co-founder of The Head and the Heart, the hugely successful band that got its start at Ballard's Conor Byrne Pub in 2009. A lot has happened since then, including Josiah leaving the band, launching a solo career, and releasing his debut record "Every Feeling on a Loop." Josiah is also featured in the new concert documentary film "Rivers and Roads: The Head And The Heart-Live from Pike Place Market." Created by Peggy Lycett

I cannot believe no one has commented on this. Every year I rediscover my love for the head and the heart and specifically their first two albums. I found them about a year before I moved from Minneapolis to Seattle. I have since figured out that every fan of this group wishes that Josiah was with them making music because the head in the heart is a trio and always will be even if he is not in the group.

I’ll comment. I was a huge fan of THATH. After Josiah left, the band was never the same. His songwriting talent and musical influence were an obvious missing ingredient since his unfortunate departure. Ultimately, I’m just happy that he’s battled his demons and we can enjoy his amazing solo debut. I just miss the energy that was THATH. God bless you brother. Hope one day you can be with THATH again.
