Is it "rock and roll?" Is it "Rockabilly?" I don't know, but I do know this: it's one of the finest songs ever to come out of the Northwest...ever. I love it...
Americana is the term I loosely use.
I'm Australian and heard a guy on local radio do a special on the genre years ago, and in my mind this lot fit the sound he described.
No dis meant if I'm way off lol.
Indie Rock... College Radio.. Alternative.. modern Folk
Definitely not rockabilly. My comparison to rockabilly is the old 97’s. Rock and roll? Hardly. If anything, the majority of songs is americana, modern folk indie…easy listening.
They are the definition of underrated.
This song makes me think of a fall day kicking leaves 🍁, hearing the wind whistle, thinking about a fond memory of a powerful romance, while smelling the faint waft of what’s about to come, and what’s after. Those leaves shake.

I remember when I first listened to this song and just didn’t like it. I remember when I only liked a few Shawn Mullins songs back in 7th grade when my dad bought me his cd and as I listened to each of his songs I grew more in love with his music every single day. Well The Head and The Heart you did the same and let me tell you I’m super picky when it comes to music it takes me forever to love other songs after overplaying the same one over and over again so I can definitely say that I’m now falling madly in love with your music lol

The Lumineers recorded here and that album made acoustic folk music fall back into the mainstream. It's aloud bands like The Head and The Heart to have more success. I'm not saying this band isn't good or anything like that because they're one of my favourite bands. But the Lumineers commercial success has definitely opened the door to this genre of music. We're gonna look back in 20 years and realize that Bear Creek Studio is where it all happened. What an honour and dream it would be to record here.
