First time someone ( you) have mentioned the silence at the beginning. And I have listened to lots of reviews of this song. Nice one. Thanks for noticing and commenting.
This to me is the greatest cover of a song ever. It took the original concept and made it more than than the original could have possibly have intended. It is a PERFECT song. 😳😳😳
I agree with the others who said that this is the best rendition of the song! I can’t remember the exact quote but I remember seeing somewhere that someone said that Simon and Garfunkels version was a warning. PTX’s was a reminder while Disturbed is a call to action. Or something like that. And I think this is one of the most beautiful and powerful songs!
WTG. Most reactors don't realize the significance of the opening. Many check this and that and a few smile knowingly. But is doesn't register. It is brilliant and defines the "Sound of Silence".
I totally agree that this is one of the greatest covers of one of the greatest songs ever written. I have always loved this song by Simon and Garfunkel. However, I never got the meaning of it until seeing this video by Disturbed. And David Dramain's voice is outstanding. I think the video images feed the imagination to a greater understanding, as well.
I highly recommend the live version of this from The Conan show. The album version is amazing, but the live version is so spectacular that even Paul Simon wrote to the band to express how much he liked it. Simon and Garfunkel's version was the warning. Disturbed's version was the rage that it wasn't heeded. Paul Simon would write in his darkened bathroom because of the acoustics. One day, he just started playing and sung, "Hello darkness, my old friend." Draiman said that he spent three hours in the sound booth working out how he wanted to sing this.
If you pay attention you'll find a girl leaning down and all you see is her arm with a tattoo I don't know I have not heard no one said that yet but I have noticed that the first time I seen it I noticed it because I was amazed of his voice I'm amazed of the video on my face I am just amazed of all that he does and says in this video and the other two other ones I'll try to get their names and put them on why don't you come and haters because it's beyond this man is unbelievable the way he went out of the way to make this black and white the music the soundtrack everything is you got to be out of your mind even a deaf person can hear this man he has power in his voice I've heard everyone sing it the first time I heard it I fell in love with it and I've been listening to it going almost 3 months almost 3 months since I've heard it till I die I will not stop my favorite from what he says cancer
Search for "Filmmaker reacts to DISTURBED - THE SOUND OF SILENCE" and you might find some comments about that "tattoo". Also, please use punctuation when writing. It may seem like such an outdated and old-fashioned thing, but it makes understanding your message significantly easier. Especially for people whose native language is not English.
There is also a live version (I think it was on Conan O’Brian) where you can really hear the incredible range and dynamic control that David has (and I believe he was sick or had an issue with his vocal chords, but he is still amazing)
😮 Where have I been??? I am of course very familiar with the Simon and Garfunkel version of this, always has been one of my favorites...BUT...I have never heard this cover of their song, I AM SHOOK!!! Such a GREAT cover, the video just breathtaking...and really like your reaction to this, thank you very much Saeed...this one will stick with me awhile
This video actually does a great job on explaining the meaning of the lyrics, great rendition; also someone said Simon and Garfunkel’s version was a warning and Disturbed’s version is we better get our act together
Simon & Garfunkel / Paul Simon are worth a deep dive. Paul is an amazing writer. The Boxer, Bridge over Troubled Water, Homeward Bound, Hazy Shade of Winter ( has also been covered by the Bangles) are my favorites
Great reaction. Thank you. I love this version of "Sound Of Silence" and I love Pentatonix version of this song. Both are different feels from the original by Simon and Garfunkel.
I can't remember if you heard Pentatonix do it or not, but that is a MUST listen to! a capella is so so different!! please check it out for me! thanks! lots of love!
The man and soul he can sell his soul by music he sings so serious so true I got to quit talking they cut me off they don't put all my comments on there I heard him about 10-12 days ago and I can't stop
I would like to see I heard this song about 10-12 days ago and I can't get it out of my mind who have made one I can't get it out of my mind it's the most beautifulest way the way they made the video the way he sings the background the silence and then the music and then at the end the big ship like he's going away he's trying to tell everybody because this world is getting so bad so hard so rough nobody wants to deal with each other anymore nobody not family not friends nobody silence that's what it became silence
I grew up listening to Simon&Garfunkel on LP and love them. This one adds another layer of what the song actually is about that I never picked up before I heard this the first time. After a couple hundred times, still equally good 🤯 Thanks for the reaction buddy
@@SaeedReacts.I had the original vinyl that S & G released in 1967. Also heard Paul play this live within the last year on a birthday special for him on TV. Other famous musicians came out and performed his hits. At the very end, he came out and performed Sound of Silence! It was closer to Disturbed’s version than the original. It was amazing! He always wrote all the music and lyrics for S & G and his much longer solo career.
Paul has said many times that the song was originally about a 21 year old whining about no one paying attention to his music set to a pretty melody. It has taken on new and larger meanings over the years. For most people under 35 Disturbed owns it whether Paul says so or not......The beauty of poetry is there is no ONE meaning.
I’m not sure how I ended up unsubscribed from you but thankfully this video came across my feed. One of my all time favourite covers, along of course with Kasey Chambers cover of Eminem 😁 Great heartfelt reaction, one of the reasons I love your channel.
Hoi Saeed!
I found Pentatonix when watching reactions to this video years ago. Pentatonix version came up and I went down the rabbit hole. Guess that makes me a Disturbed Pentaholic. I’ve seen PTX in concert and Distributed has been on my wish list your years. Had tickets and then Covid hit.
I find it a little bit humorous when the video starts and you don't hear any music. You point to your headphones with the look of "what's up?". At that moment you forgot the name of the song, "The Sound of Silence." That's what you experienced. Don't feel bad because this has happened many times. Good reaction!
To me, there are three great versions, and each means something different. The first, by Simon & Garfunkel, was the warning. Disturbed gave us the anger. And Geoff Castellucci gave us the grief. Each for its own era.
I’m not sure how I ended up unsubscribed from you but thankfully this video came across my feed. One of my all time favourite covers, along of course with Kasey Chambers cover of Eminem 😁 Great heartfelt reaction, one of the reasons I love your channel.
I have heard from other people that happens sometimes with youtube. But happy you are back 😃. This is such a great rendition of an iconic song. And same for Kasey Chambers her cover of Lose Yourself.
i am a 76 year old Great Great grandmother and this is the absolutely best version of this song ever
David said this was the only song he had done that his grandmother could listen to lol
I'm torn between this and the cover of the Nine Inch Nails song "Hurt" by Johnny Cash.
I agree with the others who said that this is the best rendition of the song! I absolutely loved this version, hadn’t heard of disturbed before but certainly like then now,he sings this with such emotion .
One of the most amazing covers of all time.
Absolutely. Hits me every time 👍❤💎
It has a Wall of Sound Phil Specter atmosphetr and a pinch of the eerie, "The Exorcist," with that beginning piano.
Paul Simon told David that the song is his now wild bill
Not sure if this was already noticed, but in the video each instrument doesn't start until it's 'found' in the rubble, starting with the ruined piano.
WTG. Most reactors don't realize the significance of the opening. Many check this and that and a few smile knowingly. But is doesn't register. It is brilliant and defines the "Sound of Silence".
The way the song shoukd havr been sung. Powerful. Rae emotion.
(Realizing now one of my greatest joys is watching folk like you responding to this truly historic rendition of a prophets warning
Truly an incredible rendition of this iconic song. So good! Thanks for watching.

However, I never got the meaning of it until seeing this video by Disturbed. And David Dramain's voice is outstanding. The imagery of the chasm between composers and musicians finally eliminated is just stunning.
Never mind Dave's voice.

He was sick, for that live performance. Still kicked it out
The live Disturbed version on Conan O'BRIEN is incredible
Will have a look.
@@SaeedReacts. If you type Disturbed - Conan O'Brien it comes up.
Arguably the best cover of this song
So good!

his voice and this rendition in the best ever
Honestly, it's the ringing echo in the silence at the end of the song is what gets to me
This video actually does a great job on explaining the meaning of the lyrics, great rendition; also someone said Simon and Garfunkel’s version was a warning and Disturbed’s version is we better get our act together
Always gives me chills
This was one of the first songs I fumbled around trying to play when I got my first guitar in the 60s.
Awesome!
Wow, indeed! The best cover of this amazing and timeless song! 💯 David did an incredible job with this one! All members of the band did!🤘Disturbed 🤟
Epic!
Kudos to S&G on a beautiful song but my favorite version ❤by David Draiman
This is my favorite version
David is one of my most favorite current vocalists singing today.
I think it's better than the original ❤❤❤❤xxx
Szeretem a hangjat❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much. What a great reaction. He has the best voice, and a great band all round. Luv from Australia ❤️🎼❤️🎼❤️

You are right it is a good song but I love disturbed music and the sound of silence is a good song
Amazing song and epic version!

Yes, that is a fair statement
I don’t know that anyone mentioned it, but Paul Simon reached out to the band and felt the song is theirs now!
