I toured Lansdowne around 1970 and nothing has changed! It is such a treasure that it has survived with original furnishings, wall and floor coverings that give truly authentic glimpse back to the time the house was built. It is so rare you see a property remain in the original family like this and is preserved not restored! Thanks for the wonderful tour 😊
I enjoyed this video so much! It is absolutely amazing that this home has stayed so beautifully intact. I truly hope she has heirs that will continue to care for the home in years to come. It really is such a treasure.
Laine & Kevin, Such an informative written narrative to complement Miss Marcia's presentation of her family home. I was glued to the screen watching her tour & Lansdowne would definitely be on my list to tour should I ever get to Natchez. Thank you for all you do for preservation!
A true treasure for their family and fortunately for us! So many family pieces and so much history! I hope to be able to see it some day. Thank you so much.
We have 2 home in our little tiny town that have been in the same family for 10 generations. They were awarded the land by the King of England. One was influential in bringing horse racing to the colonies. This family also has a son-in-law who signed the Declaration of Independence, Francis Lee. His home is being preserved in glass and still. Original parts still standing are being restored.
I absolutely love this home and all its furnishings.. The homes and furnishings are exquisite and priceless. Furniture isn't made like that anylonger. The upkeep for it all has to be exhausting, and very time consuming. I can appreciate the hard work and time that is put into keeping this home at its original glory. God bless you all. Please keep up the great channel. You all really keep me grounded and yearning for more. This made my morning. Thank you.
I got screen grabs of those fabulous light fixtures! Imagine living in a place so connected to your family. that's something that most of us never experience.
Beautiful old home! So glad it has remained in the same family all these years and all it's the original details, furnishings etc. along with it's history. I hope it remains intact as we've seen it for many years as it is and preserved as a historical landmark for future generations. Thanks for sharing and showing such a beautiful, stately old home.
I have to think how many special times in the families' lives have happened in this amazing home. If the walls could talk, they would recall the times of hope, love, prosperity, fear and anxiety during some of the most historic events in our nation's history. I am so thankful that in many parts of our country people have kept the history of these important structures like a time capsule. Beautiful tour.
Fantastic showing! The richness of details and background information of this unique items from the owner made it a complete delight in this Sunday morning! ❤❤
That was awesome! I love history and that was certainly a historic house. And all the little things they used back then (mosquito net around the bed) we never would have known about unless the history was preserved and the tales told. So wonderful
Oh Laine--once again I am enthralled. The hostess/owner is such a charming guide. I loved the gas light fixtures and wall paper--and of course all of those antiques. (I own an antique mall) Your tours are my idea of a really good time! Keep them coming!
Well done and beutifully edited! Your episodes keep getting better and better. Once again you show the charms and grace of owning a heritage place. How can we look at the future without respecting our past. Your camera works and overhead shots were well executed and added to the narrator's story as a strong visual. I felt like I was there. Now I want to be in person : ) Always amazing to see places that have been in families for multi generations. It shows the progression of what each generation leaves behind and how the place adds to their own history (both home & personal - rare find these days). With our throw away modern culture - this is a shining example of the respect for the past with a solid base for the future. You two have been inspirational with your credo towards Restoraion Homes and Preservation. Much appreciation and look forward to your future presentations.
🔹The historical stories related to the myriad of lighting fixtures, fireplaces, and furniture is very interesting. I particularly liked the bed with the mosquito netting where the end posts rise up. I've never seen that before.🔹
Wow what a wonderful place to grow up and live your life. Thank you Marcia (Marsha?) for the tour. So very interesting. Thanks to Laine and Kevin, too! The Music in the begining was a great choice. Love it! Thank you so much :)
Absolutely wonderful old home! That special bed is awesome! Landsdowne is stunning! I really liked the square grand piano 3/4 of the way down the main hall from the entry on the right. It is also called a 'Coffin' Piano. Thank you for another GREAT presentation!
Marsha! So awesome to have FAMILY preserving the History of your amazing home! This is a PRICELESS TOUR… with a PRICELESS Narrative! I wish I could travel, but so glad for Laine & Kevin giving us this wonderful opportunity to see it close up. THANK YOU! B~}
Thank you. The lady narrating seem só precious and Humble. A true genteel, southern lady. I,e. Quinessential, epitome, southern lady. I w a debating Hungary or Natchez in march.vthus clinches it:)
Your house is so special. I can’t imagine how wonderful it would be to have that kind of family history preserved through both the material things and the beautiful memories made by so many generations of living and celebrating. Thank you for sharing this.
It's a magnificent plantation home. Please put the mosquito net back so you can demonstrate how it works its very romantic! I absolutely love the house!! Wonderful tour guide thank you!!
How wonderful that Landsdown has survived and flourished! This tour had inspired me to make certain I keep our Family’s history and objects together. I hope to attend Pilgrimage one day in the not too far future.
What a gift to live in this home, surrounded by so many original pieces, steeped in history. The egg cooker with the sand hourglass (!!!) timer is amazing. I love how she explains how the different items, like wallpaper, are documented with family letters. I am fortunate that my paternal grandmother, who outlived all of her siblings, left notes with every heirloom she inherited, as well as many letters. While we love to wonder about things from the past, a solid link that verifies the history is so meaningful. And, what a handsome great-grandfather! I also loved the story of the butler hiding the silver in the old cistern. The structure of this house is very interesting, with the wide central hall, and (as opposed to the Victorian style) all of the fireplaces/chimneys against outside walls instead of backing up to each other to connect to the same stack. Symmetry was perhaps the goal? Since the main house is one story, I'm curious about the structure on the roof, which looks like a skylight? Really lovely tour. While I love to see sad historic houses given love, what a joy to know this home has received constant care over its many years. :)
Thank you for sharing this lovely home! It is so fascinating to hear the family history and about the details that have remained throughout its history❤
The house is incredible very beautiful and I like to fight. It’s been restored to the original date. Bad thing is if you’re going to show a house show everything about the house didn’t see kitchen and see bathrooms no clue what those other two houses were. Maybe next time you’ll get to part two and we’ll get to see the rest of it.
This house is a private home, not for sale. We show you what the owner allows us to show. Would you want guests coming into your home and poking around your bathroom? Probably not. And you did see inside the other home that is open. While she’s describing it we walked you through it. Remember, seeing in these homes is a privilege. Neither the owner nor we owe you a look at any part of the home. Usually to see this home you have to pay $20 for a tour. Maybe next time you comment you’ll say “thank you” instead of complaining.

Really nothing else like it😊
One of my ancestors, a man called Stewart was stationed in Natchez from 1864-5. I wonder if he played a role in any of these nasty raids.
Exquisite and amazing doesn't begin to do this house justice.
Buenas Tardes, Dios te Bendiga, Amén 🙏💋❤ Hermoso y Elegante para compartir ❤️🙏
Wonderful house and tour!
LOVE that the body of the house is not white, which would be so unnecessarily boring! ❤
Thank you!
