I feel like OG Ghalta and Gigantosaurus are pretty decent adds. Giga is a little hard to cast, but with the ramp in the deck you can get pretty good fixing and then it's a 5-mana discover 10. Ghalta is arguably better because it's bigger, cheaper and it has trample. And, if it's not in the deck, Garruk's Uprising is a must add because card draw and it gives everything trample.

Especially with Esper Sentinel, Thought Vessel, Reliquary Tower, & more card draw to stack up hella creatures in the hand first.
Had to order this one as I’m getting into MTG, and have always loved Dinosaurs. I’ve bought some upgrades for the deck to add in once it comes too. I love how the Commander looks!

Just wondering why you guys went with Elemental Bond over Garruk's Uprising? Same cost, only 4 cards in the deck trigger Ele but not Garruk AND it gives your big boys Trample ... AND it will usually draw a card when entering the battlefield itself.
@@mthlay15 Lol Garruk's uprising has several dinos on it depending on the version you get. I'm guessing they went with elemental bond because it triggers off of all of the 3/3 dino tokens the deck can make. I still like Garruk's uprising more though.
I think a very interesting card in this deck is Cream of the Crop. Since your creatures are generally quite big and you often get two for ones on your Dinos, it gives you a ton of card selection and can allow you to heavily stack your deck to get the best stuff off your discovers.
Am I weird for thinking that life crafters bestiary is almost perfect for the deck since it scrys to possibly help setup the top card for pantlaza and in a deck where I am casting huge dinosaurs and probably only one a turn for the first half of the game I think that spending any extra green to draw cards is perfectly fine.
I agree, for me their logic seemed super backwards. They said it's better if you're playing cheaper creatures, but if you're paying an additional mana from 2 to 3, that's a 50% increase, whereas it's much lower percentage wise for bigger creatures. Also, if you're playing cheap creatures, you have a high chance of double or even triple spelling, which means you're very good at using all your mana to cast an additional creature, so paying the tax even once probably slows you down by a spell. If you're slamming big creatures, there are going to be a ton of turns where you play a 7 drop on 8 or 9 lands and have nothing else to do. In those circumstances, you'd love a way to spend that last bit of mana to keep your tires spinning, and you lose basically no tempo for doing so.
Again : nice job ! This upgrade guide is very entertaining, even for "old" players. In your budget upgraded, you noticed the interaction between sneak attack and ephemerate. Even though ephemerate is strong because it's an instant, there is a stronger and cheaper card that blinks all those dinosaures way more often : Nahiri's resolve. "just sayin' ! " ;)
I know it's a bit of a hit or miss with the deck only having 32 creatures, but I will absolutely suggest adding Lurking Predators. The more creatures you have in your deck the more effective it is, and it WILL trigger even if it's the only thing you cast all turn. Every single spell an enemy casts is a chance for you to drop a free dinosaur onto the battlefield, and with Pantlaza wanting ETB to happen, it will trigger off of every creature you can cheat out with this enchantment.
Gonna reiterate just in case that you do not have to play the cards you discover, so it literally makes it card draw with upside. This also means you don't have to develop the board when you don't want to, for example, if you're expecting a board wipe (or even got one in your hand already). I know, I know, free value is hard to turn down, but I do think this mechanic is more skill-testing than people give it credit for.

To be honest I'm was really hoping that you'd choose Pantlaza since I really want him to be my commander but a lot of people rating and upgrading this deck chose Wayta ^^ Which is honestly the more interesting choice mechanically speaking but for my first dinosaur deck I also want to have a dinosaur as my commander! So grateful for the vid and adding some blink / etb-trigger cards!
I've done a little research on some good cards to run with Pantlaza as the commander to enhance the benefits for discover, or that work well with the deck. (Some may already be included from the video, the deck, or haven't released yet.) Wayward Swordtooth $2.50+ Sneak Attack $5.00+ Thrasta. Tempest's Roar $1.00+ Elemental Bond $5.00+ Cryptic Gateway $1.00+ Pugnacious Hammerskull $0.75+ Knight of the Stampede $0.35+ Hulking Raptor $1.50+ Kinjalli's Caller $0.20+ Ghalta, Primal Hunger $2.50+ Garruk's Uprising $0.45+ Blasphemous Act $1.50+ Monster Manual $4.00+ Herald's Horn $5.00+ Swords to Plowshares $0.75+ Ghalta and Mavren $2.00+ Heroic Intervention $8.00+ Ephemerate $1.50+ Lurking Predators $5.50+ For a total price of about $50 for all 19 cards I would say it's worth it. Though I'd likely add about 10-15. I didn't have a whole lot of lower cost red dinos/cards atm since a lot of them are pricey or I didn't think of any. (I'm mainly a green player), but these are mostly $0.50-$5.00. If anyone has any good red cards to throw in please throw a comment!
Same bro, I got it early because I told my friend who likes Dragons; "You know what's cooler than Dragons?... Dinosaurs!!! 🤣" (They don't know what's coming to em)
Savage Order might be my favorite add for this deck because of the ability to cheat Ghalta, Stampede Tyrant out, thus allowing me to then put all other creatures in my hand out for free. Especially with Esper Sentinel, Thought Vessel, Reliquary Tower, & more card draw to stack up hella creatures in the hand first.
Well if you have a Gishath deck already you basically only need the new cards and reprints you don't have. (and you can switch between pantlaza and gishath for dinosaur tribal.) oh and upgrades you absolutely missed "Trapjaw Tyrant" that's a enrage "Reclaimation sage" Silverclad ferociouidons is a very scary thing to block and let through. Polyraptor.. the only reason thats not in the deck is Marauding raptor since that can cause a draw. but theres a fix with "Wrathful raptors" which is a win con with this draw combo but the one upgrade missed bar none thats a absolute necessity is "Forerunner of the empire" it puts a dinosaur ontop of the deck then the next dino coming out could cheat it out.
most of those cards aren't in the video because they're just too expensive. Polyraptor alone is upwards of $26 with most of the others sitting above $10 a piece.
The people behind Jurassic park and Crichton made a gamble. They didn’t know about Utah Raptor at the time, it hadn’t been discovered yet but it was heavy theorized a predator matching the “Jurassic Park velociraptor” had existed. So they named it velociraptor and went on with the movie. After the movie was released they found the first Utah Raptor fossil. Which is scarier than the Jurassic Park version btw
4:04 It's funny you mention that. I'm gonna throw down some Dino knowledge on ya! The Velociraptors from Jurassic Park were modeled after Utahraptors and Deinonychus. Which were that big.
I personally don't like sion of calamity. It would be a lot better with trample. I'd personally use the sailback from March of the machine instead or the sail dinosaur from aftermath
Really excited about this deck because dinos are sweet. One of the guys in my pod had a Gishath that i played and played against and it was always underwhelming because it got removed 80% of the time before triggering. There's probably some protection or haste enablers that could make it more impactful but in general I think that is kinda just the card design/balance. This is to me seems more reliable value and less threatening as soon as it hits the board so you hopefully get more triggers
I've been playing my velociramptor deck with my own mods since it was released and i do have to say - *don't sleep on the enrage cards or their triggers* . I was fortunate to pull a Polyraptor in one my my boosters (i know this is on a budget) - you're going to want it though. If you're running bellowing aegisaur, those raptors are cloning and growing, if you're running Gishath as your commander and play verdant sun's avatar, you're going to be getting life like ted bundy on trial. Then you're swarming, ramping, so many triggers, uber life gain, even if you become a target, nobody wants to swing at you because you can block with your raptors and create more.. they'll board wipe you but you don't care, you're sitting on 80 hp and you get to deploy gishath again - or just ephemerate him out the way and get a new roster of free dinos there and then. If you simplify your goals to just hit the ground with haste and some mid-range attack power, you will get laserd down.
Roaming Throne to make Pantlaza discover twice instead, Savage order to cheat out new Ghalta (& thus every other creature in hand), & Contest of Claws to remove a creature AND get off a potentially huge discovery for just 2 mana, are some of my favorite additions to this deck
I saw 1 announced JP card would be in this deck and instantly pre-ordered. Probably also getting the Naga one, both just seem right up my alley, in both flavour and playstyle
I just got mine in today. Plan to do some upgrades to it. Though, I'm surprised you didn't talk about the 3rd Commander option in this deck, Zacama. I'm also surprised you left Wayta in for the upgrades. She just feels like an auto-drop to me.
My highest recommendation is Nahiri's Resolve. Buffs, gives Haste and can blink your dinos. Burning Sun's Avatar can deal ETB damage again and can activate Pantlaza's Discover for 6. I know Pantlaza only works once for turn, but you can blink it to do it again!
My Dino deck had 38 land and 39 Dinos. So this deck didn't surprise me in this deck Shifting Ceratops I do like playing. Because there isn't too many reach or flying dinos
I'm really surprised polyraptor wasn't mentioned. You'd have to be careful not to cause a deadlock with marauding raptor because the trigger is forced/automatic for both. But If you swap out Marauding raptor for Polyraptor (CMC 8), cards like Belligerent Brontodon (CMC 7), Imposing Vantasaur (CMC 6), or Looming Altisaur (CMC 4) be paired against it by Wayta and get two more 5/5's per turn for one Green. Toss in a 'Green Ward' or 'Shield of Duty and Reason' for one White each on the creature you want to have the Polyraptor fight and you could have twice as many 5/5's per turn as you have green mana free per turn.
Would you guys run Kinjali's Suncaller, Priest of the Waking Sun, Wakening Sun's Avatar and the 2 OG Huatli's, Dinosaur Knight & Warriors Poet in the deck?
I'm kinda sad we didn't get a new Gishath. Don't get me wrong, I love the new art, but I was hoping we got a new version of him if he's going to be in the main set
20:30 The other pre-cons are going for that price. Unfortunately this deck has a massive premium on it and is about $75, and I think that is an important point that should have been mentioned (as this video is only a day old). I really wanted just this deck, but was not going to spend that kind of money on it. The bundles of all 4 decks still is going at the normal rate though, so I spent extra to get that. Of course if this had been the normal price I wouldn't have done that, so WotC wins by getting extra money from me.
Bronzebeak might be my favorite card from this set and i might just get a bunch of them as just general white removal cause that life gain send to graveyard second mode seems like such a good insurance policy to prevent people from killing it cause if your holding up mana anyways you can make sure they dont get there thing back out of spite

Garruk's Uprising $0.45+
Blasphemous Act $1.50+
Monster Manual $4.00+
Herald's Horn $5.00+
Swords to Plowshares $0.75+
Ghalta and Mavren $2.00+
Heroic Intervention $8.00+
Ephemerate $1.50+
Lurking Predators $5.50+
For a total price of about $50 for all 19 cards I would say it's worth it.
This feels great to play right out the box just add some blinks and you open up more avenues to build right after a board wipe
It does not discover for the mana value of the spell, but for that creature toughness. I missreaded the card as well!
Please go back to adding the “splurge” option for cards
Preordered this as soon as they announced a dino procon for $35 and now it's creeping up to $70. Glad I locked it in when I did.
Same bro, I got it early because I told my friend who likes Dragons; "You know what's cooler than Dragons?... Dinosaurs!!! 🤣"
(They don't know what's coming to em)
Best advice. Take your gishath deck and strip the precon for parts.
Put in Dinosaurs On A Spaceship just for the funnies!!! LMAO!
Bought this for it to be stripped and upgrade my Gishalth deck I'm so excited
Savage Order might be my favorite add for this deck because of the ability to cheat Ghalta, Stampede Tyrant out, thus allowing me to then put all other creatures in my hand out for free. Especially with Esper Sentinel, Thought Vessel, Reliquary Tower, & more card draw to stack up hella creatures in the hand first.
I love Dino’s so this is going to be awesome now they just need to do a shark deck there is not enough sharks out there
Well if you have a Gishath deck already you basically only need the new cards and reprints you don't have. (and you can switch between pantlaza and gishath for dinosaur tribal.)
oh and upgrades you absolutely missed "Trapjaw Tyrant" that's a enrage "Reclaimation sage"
Silverclad ferociouidons is a very scary thing to block and let through.
Polyraptor.. the only reason thats not in the deck is Marauding raptor since that can cause a draw. but theres a fix with "Wrathful raptors" which is a win con with this draw combo
but the one upgrade missed bar none thats a absolute necessity is "Forerunner of the empire" it puts a dinosaur ontop of the deck then the next dino coming out could cheat it out.
most of those cards aren't in the video because they're just too expensive. Polyraptor alone is upwards of $26 with most of the others sitting above $10 a piece.
I enjoyed this upgrade. I would try to find a way to add Lurking Predators & Garruk's Uprising
“Painharmonicon” oh you cheeky buddy.
Got this from my local lgs for $30, definitely lucked out. I love dinos but never thought I’d get the chance to play good ones for that cheap!
Runic Armasaur had me stuck discarding because I was getting cards faster than I could cast them lol.
I like how the archidekt ad makes it look like you all live in one house together lol
4:04 It's funny you mention that. I'm gonna throw down some Dino knowledge on ya! The Velociraptors from
Jurassic Park were modeled after Utahraptors and Deinonychus. Which were that big.
I personally don't like sion of calamity. It would be a lot better with trample. I'd personally use the sailback from March of the machine instead or the sail dinosaur from aftermath

I won a game with Chandras ignition because both my opponents were at 12 or less and I had Galta and Mavren out 😊
Really excited about this deck because dinos are sweet.
I dream of casting Gishath with Lightning Greaves ready to equip.
I just bought this deck at $40 at my local LGS shop last night!
Best precon name confirmed.
Lazer pants is bomb I think I might have found my first pre-con/ commander deck
The reprints are insane. I had to check 3/4 different sources because I could not believe they printed Akroma's Will in to it.
Mirari's Wake is an absolute MUST for this deck btw
Roaming Throne to make Pantlaza discover twice instead, Savage order to cheat out new Ghalta (& thus every other creature in hand), & Contest of Claws to remove a creature AND get off a potentially huge discovery for just 2 mana, are some of my favorite additions to this deck
Roaming Throne won't work since pantlaza's discover happens only once a turn
hunting grounds seems like a fantastic include here akin to sneak attack, cryptic gateway, and the monster journal
I saw 1 announced JP card would be in this deck and instantly pre-ordered.
Probably also getting the Naga one, both just seem right up my alley, in both flavour and playstyle
4 words. DINOSAURS IN A SPACESHIP
Good catch.
So many sets so close to each other, so many good cards slipping through cracks.
Rachel saying “now let’s talk about Diiiiiinosaurs” is the best. Had me crackin’ up. 😂
Some great cards to add to my Atla Palani Jurrasic Park deck
My Dino deck had 38 land and 39 Dinos. So this deck didn't surprise me in this deck
Shifting Ceratops I do like playing. Because there isn't too many reach or flying dinos
Ahhh I wish I would have gotten this for the preorder price! It’s only gonna go up
Me: Excited to buy Flaming Tyrannosaurus for $1.50 after watching this video.
Flaming Tyrannosaurus: You sure about that?
Wayta could also work with Vrondiss and Wrathful Red Dragon!
I tend to play more and more big creatures with cycling in tribal decks to solve bad hands/draws. Yidaro and titanoth rex might be interesting
Dude ran that Pant”lava” joke into the ground. We get it lol
besides the 10 cut card suggested, what would you remove to add bonehead dracosaur and gishath?
Crazy how fast the prices change
I am new to Commander with a little of bit Magic play on line but I am pre-ordering this deck!
What's the power level before and after upgrades plus I think I'd add gurruks uprising just because
I'm kinda sad we didn't get a new Gishath.
My first commander deck ever was call for backup so I love nia
You could also play Zacama with this deck
He comes in it!
Grimlock says hello!
Not a legal card😂
@@chrisanderson1-66 no $hit Sherlock lol
Bronzebeak might be my favorite card from this set and i might just get a bunch of them as just general white removal cause that life gain send to graveyard second mode seems like such a good insurance policy to prevent people from killing it cause if your holding up mana anyways you can make sure they dont get there thing back out of spite
