    Had this discussion in another of your threads, so thanks for majoring on this. Honda, please build a 450 Rally that has sensible service intervals, 40 ish bhp & rear suspension that isn't soggy. Then sit back and enjoy a global sales phenomenon. Just do it!

      Yeah the service intervals is ridiculous but it was developed as a racing bike so they did care.

      Yes, absolutely! This is the key point. To do so shouldn’t add much weight, but will lose a bit of horsepower, which is fine by me.

      If you want 'normal motorcycle' interval for CRF450L here's 2 simple step
      1. Use 15w50, no energy conservation oil allowed
      2. Cap the RPM to like 8000-8500 instead of 10500 standard (do it via ECU)
      You lose a few horsepower and a lot of max speed, but now have 3-4x longevity and significantly more friendly bike.

    As the (very happy) owner of a 300 Rally, I would swap in a heartbeat if they brought out a 450. I don’t want a 600/700cc bike - I’ve had those and larger, but agree the 450 is my unicorn 👍🏻

      You woupd hate the 450 by the end of the day ive owned 3 crfs myself & id go to a 250l several times over compared to a rough & tiring 450

    I would luv a Yamaha T5, based on the T7. Just a 500cc parallel twin with 40 - 50 hp, weighing in at about 350lb😉

    I just traded my Africa Twin for a Husqvarna 701 Enduro. To me it's the unicorn we are all looking for. Long service intervals, light for singletrack and powerful for the highway.

    if you want to pay for higher tech then the ktm 690 enduro and husqvarna 701 enduro are already there. lots of power, good weight and size and great service intervals since they're a step down from their highly tuned exc and fe counterparts. if honda does a low tech 450l rally with lower tuning and tolerances then they'll be occupying market space currently vacant.

    Although it's human nature to want more, I realized it takes too much time and energy to desire something that doesn't exist and simply choose one of the thousand models (new or old, modified or not) already out there and just enjoy the rides... For me personally, a CB500X upgraded with full rally-raid kit (level 2) would be enough.

    It would be my ideal bike. I have a twenty year old F650 Dakar, which is a good bike but a little heavy and a 17" rear wheel. Please Honda, make the 450Rally 🙏🤞

    The 400cc dual sport/ADV range is a big blind spot for manufacturers. I was hoping for a 390 Adventure-R from KTM since the 390 Adventure I have is too much of a street/sport bike frame. I would definitely go for a 450 Rally if they could keep the weight down, but doing that isn't a strong point for Honda.

    AMEN, A 450L-Rally will be a dream come true and i have a feeling its gonna become real very soon ;) I have the 250L-Rally, added many things to it like a Q4 fmf, Ohlins front and rear, ejk and some more upgrades, its awesome and the ride is really fun but its definitely lacking horse power. the 450 will be a massive hit.

    Yes, minimal IT, 20 litre tank, reasonable seat 450 to 500 cc twin. Many accessories.

    The bike you describe sounds great, but as you accurately predict it would probably cost about $11k. Personally, I would still choose the CRF300L Rally: 330 lbs, 10.9” ground clearance, 200 mile range, ABS, 70 mph cruising speed, 80 mph top speed, 8k mile service intervals, and all for only $6,300. However, @Honda, if you make the bike described in this video, PLEASE take notes from the T7 and keep it simple, optional ABS is all the tech it would need.

      U gotta be crazy to think a 300 from Honda is gonna cruise at 75. U would winding that little thing out. Some say holding 75 on a KTM 790 is pushing it

      @Daniel check Trek Ethos video of his 1000 mile day on his 300 rally. He was doing 75-80 from Utah home to Washington with no problems.

      @@danielhicks5031 Who on earth says 75mph on a KTM790 is pushing it, rofl. My DR650 with 40ish HP does 75 all day long, 300+ mile days. A 500exc can do 70 very comfortably. I think you're right about the CRF300 not being comfortable at 70, but it can certainly do it.

    I bought this bike. 2022 CRF450RL. Great bike, but I agree that it should be less race engine which has more maintenance and be able to hit the highway longer distances to get to more trails. In my area there aren't many trails close by.

    I'd take it in a low-maintenance 400 with the suspension from the 450 - it would be a perfect size and would be more reasonable priced to register in Quebec ;-).
    I'd trade in my AT in a heartbeat for this bike.

    You nailed it, You hit the holy grail prayer spot on. You must have the same dreams as I do. Please Honda listen to this man, he's reflecting what we all ache for over here in New Zealand. I'm always getting myself into spots of bother riding my Africa Twin where a 450L-Rally would be perfect. Surely Mr Nice Honda man, you are aware that not only Yamaha but also Triumph are working behind the scenes to mention a few, that are aware of the unicorn bike. Don't miss the boat like you did with the (finally) release of the Africa Twin. The theme of most of the comments below all point in the same direction. Make another legend Honda.

    I agree, and would love to see it get made, but. The 701 is also a close contender. Just needs more protection from the elements which is not that hard to manufacture. Its light, its crazy powerful for a single and it is so vibration free it feels like its cheating!

    The Tenere 700 reminds me of my old Honda TransAlp. It was a 600 cc V-twin. Loved that bike. It was simple, had plenty of power but wasn't overwhelming, super reliable, and took me most anywhere. And best of all it was very affordable when I bought it new. Wish I'd never sold it. :-(

    41 year old man slowly plotting my return to motorcycling after an 18 year absence. The crf300l seems ideal, but the marginal highway capability (beyond lack of availability) makes it easier to wait and see if someone comes up with an honest 350 or 400 similar machine.

    Given that it would be unique in the segment, I'd gladly pay a couple thousand more than the 450L. Keep it simple like the 300L and I think it would be a winner. But if they don't keep it accessible to the average rider in weight, cost, or Hight it will be a no go for me.

    I would like to see the new version of XR650R with rally look in production! I was thinking same for AT but they built it with parallel twin 🙃, my favorite single or v-twin. New KLR made my hope also collapsed with old school tech. Maybe Suzuki creates new DR650R 😊.

      I have a Husqvarna 701 and love it, I agree with you that Honda should make the engine around 700cc and with a rally chassi. That's the best combination of rally, enduro, adventure.👍
      Pm, you can't use the word infrastructure when you describe a MC-model, look it up!

    I have a 250l rally. I’d upgrade to the 450 rally as you described happily. Maintenance intervals kept me from the 450 to begin with. I’ve done lots of miles and camping with my 250 but would welcome more power without more weight.

    Totally agree about this Honda 450, I'd buy it the same day they said A.....
    It'll all start when KTM presents their 490 parallel twin. Then, all manufacturers have a 450-500....

    Yeah, I have to say that "unicorn bike" would be extremely popular. Especially if Honda went with "option B," as you call it, and kept the cost down somewhat. Longer maintenance intervals would be crucial. I have a WR250R and like it a lot, but don't like it so much for highway use. I've always said that a similar 450 with quite a bit more power would be ideal, especially if it's still a somewhat lightweight machine. If Honda made this bike, I'd have to seriously consider it.

    They should use the cb500x engine with a more torque oriented tuneup, a new frame, with suspension and tbe other details... But they already have a great engine for rally purposes

    In 71 I got out of the service and hadn’t owned a bike for six years. I was 24. I bought a Suzuki Apache 400 and went into the North Louisiana to do some real damage to my feet, hands, head and back. I’ve never wanted a bike focused on off-road again

    Have you seen the service manual recommendations Honda gives for the CRF450L? Who in their right mind would even bother with that thing? It's more expensive and maintenance intensive than an Italian female millionaire celebrity blonde.

      Ever read the owner's service manual? Why would I have to ride in order to read?
      Per CRF450L owner's manual:
      Replace fuel lines every 30 hours.
      Replace fuel pump filter every 30 hours.
      Inspect spark plug every 3.5 hours.
      Inspect crank case breather every 3.5 hours.
      Inspect valve clearance every 30 hours.
      Replace engine oil and filter every 30 hours.
      Replace piston and piston rings every 30 hours.
      Replace piston pin every 30 hours.
      Inspect radiator coolant every 3.5 hours.
      Replace drive chain every 15 hours.
      Replace fork oil every 30 hours.
      Inspect steering head bearings every 30 hours.
      Inspect the clutch system every 3.5 hours.
      Notes:
      Replace fork oil after break-in ride.
      Inspect valve clearance after first break-in ride.
      Replace engine oil, if the clutch discs and plates are replaced.
      Replace fuel line every year.
      Replace fuel pump filter every year.
      As well a huge host of items to inspect every 3.5 hours not listed here.

    I would love it if Honda brought their big ADV scooter to America. I have 2 replacement hips, and currently ride a Silverwing scooter in the Woods. Not really much fun.

    Crf450rl exists now, but apparently it stalls all the time in slow speed off roading unless you spind thousands on hew ecu and exhaust.

    I totally agree. in order to make the engine less labour intensive, I think they should do it with a twin cilinder 500 cc engine.

    Yep base it around the 300 Rallye. Good vid btw. I have a KTM 390 which I am very impressed with both on and off road. Its fairly cheap as well with long service intervals. I would consider the KTM 690 over the T7 but its probably a bit more expensive, but a very capable all rounder.

    I would seriously consider buying a 450 Rally if it existed. Always loved the look of the 250/300 Rally, but at 250lbs without gear they just don't have enough power. I currently have a KTM 890 R. Having 2 ADV bikes seems kinda silly.

    Honda, Yamaha, KTM, BMW, please give us more mid-weight capable adventure options. 450-500 cc is plenty of fun!

    I'd be happy with something like the honda 300 dual sport, but closer to the 360-400cc range and with a fully adjustable suspension to accommodate more people, and offered with in a lower seat height rally and regular non-rally edition. It would also need long maintenance intervals.

    Exactly well said . Ive got an Africa Twin 100L and an 850 would be much lighter . Ive test ridden a T7 but its still on the too top heavy side . 450 Rally with 40 HP with a strong sub frame would be excellent.

    It has to be on a par price/ feature wise with the Tenere even if Honda increases capacity to 500 - 600 cc or brings out an 800cc version of the Africa Twin. I’d favour a 600 if it came in lower, less expensive. A basic version and a more expensive higher featured Adventure version.

    I have a Tiger 900 RP and a CRF 300 Rally. The Honda is where I spend all my time because it’s just so much better off road than the Triumph while being close enough on the highway. I’d trade the Triumph in a heartbeat if a 450 Rally as described in this video was ever built.

      @@philipbarton2634 Typically an hour to an hour and a half from my house to trails. I ride out at factory pressures then air down to 15 psi off road. I carry a small pump to put 3or 4 pounds back in before riding home The triumph needs nearly twice the pressure on road and the TFT goes nuts when you air down even slightly

    HD missed the boat with the 500 and 750 Street models. Those could have been made into great small to mid ADV bikes

    With GPX, at least someone seems to finally answer the call. Hope their 450 Rally will finally land in summer and get the good build quality their current bikes have now reached thanks to them actually listening to their customers.
