      the iKamper is awesome! We have had it mounted to the RAV4 for 2 full years without ever taking it off. Spent around 50 nights in the tent and still love it!

      We were using the King Camp table from Amazon, but since recording this video we got a new table that is similar but folds up to be smaller:

    Hey I’m in the Bay Area and just getting into overlanding. Can you do a “top overlanding spots” video? I’ve only been to Mendocino National Forrest.

    • @LunarLanderXplor

      Yea, good idea! Maybe we'll make that video later this year. There are a ton of great spots near(ish) to the Bay Area (we are in Oakland). Most of the National Forests (Tahoe NF, Mendocino NF, Stanislaus NF, El Dorado NF, etc.) are open for dispersed camping and have networks of forest roads to explore.

    Great videos! Some of the drone footage you had at the beginning as you drove along a creek, were you on Goat Mountain rd? I've been using Google maps, but, it's hard to tell if the creek is significantly lower than the rd. Your video really helps my research. We are driving up from Southern CA in July and are really looking forward to seeing MNF.
    Keep up the great content!

    Do you ever drive the Rav4 without your gear and RTT? I'm wondering how the vehicle drives in everyday normal conditions with your RC lift and Dendoff springs.

    • @LunarLanderXplor
      @LunarLanderXplor  3 роки тому +1

      We keep the rooftop tent on full-time, so we have not driven without the RTT since getting the lift & stiffer springs installed. When we have no gear in the trunk, it is a bit stiffer compared to when we are loaded up for a camping trip.

    • @whitelabellt
      @whitelabellt 3 роки тому

      @@LunarLanderXplor You had the same gear and RTT before the lift/springs upgrade, right? I'm assuming you were using the stock springs. What was your experience driving the Rav4 with all that gear on stock springs? I need my vehicle for everyday driving so I am hesitant in choosing the Dendoff springs. I was thinking of going with Eibach springs to keep a pleasant driving experience, but have the ability to load gear and RTT when I need to and not have extreme sag.

    • @LunarLanderXplor
      @LunarLanderXplor  3 роки тому +1

      Yes we did have the RTT and gear before the Dendoff springs & lift were installed. Driving was totally fine normally, but there was a lot of sag in the rear (check out our videos from Utah to see what I mean). For everyday driving this was fine, but for off roading we were losing ground clearance in the back which was an issue for us. Now, with the Dendoff springs installed, I still use the car as a daily driver and it is fine. A bit stiffer than the stock springs, but really not an issue. We do have the RTT on full time, so that does add weight.
      Prior to adding the Dendoff springs & lift, we did have the RTT on the car for about a year and still went camping & off roading. It is possible, but there will be sag & less ground clearance in the rear. Before the lift upgrades, we measured about 7" ground clearance due to the sagging rear, and now we are at about 10" minimum.

    • @whitelabellt
      @whitelabellt 3 роки тому

      @@LunarLanderXplor One last question for you... When you did the upgrades, did you put the rough country lift front and back or just back? Did you keep the stock TRD springs in the front? I'm just wondering why your rear looks like it has greater than 2.5" lift. Thanks for all the info! Love your videos!

    • @LunarLanderXplor
      @LunarLanderXplor  3 роки тому

      We have the Rough Country lift both front & back, and the RNOFIT coils are only in the rear. We still have the TRD coils up front. The extra lift in the back is helpful since we carry so much weight on our trips.

    Looks like another great trip.. planning on heading that way soon from the bay area, did you go on from the Clearlake side or Indian valley reservoir side?

    • @LunarLanderXplor
      @LunarLanderXplor  3 роки тому +1

      For this trip we entered on the North side of Clear Lake, and drove through to Indian Valley Reservoir. Much of the forest just north of Clear Lake is burned from fires last year, but near Indian Valley Reservoir was beautiful. Next time we'll enter from that side.

    How much of a lift do you have on your RAV4? And which lift did you use? And did you add springs? Size tires?

    Great video.!!!

    • @LunarLanderXplor
      @LunarLanderXplor  3 роки тому +1

      We have a 2.5" spacer lift (rough country) + stiffer rear coils. Our tires & wheels are the stock ones that come with the TRD version of the RAV4. We will upgrade this summer, but so far the stock All Terrain tires have been pretty good!

    • @LunarLanderXplor
      @LunarLanderXplor  3 роки тому +1

      We got the stiffer coils to offset the rear end of the car sagging when full of camping gear. Previously we were losing ground clearance in the back due to the weight of our tent, fridge, camping supplies, etc. Now with the new coils the back is lifted even when carrying a lot of weight.
